Sigh... yes...

Maybe it will be really good. (it won't)
Hopefully it will be more like Konosuba than SAO.
From what others are saying it focuses more on world building and character growth.
I love fantasy anime that grow and develop a world, I also love video games, but honestly this genre is way overused and most often in a poor manner.

I would be happy with a comedy (like konosuba) or beautiful world and character growth (log horizon/re:zero); but if the character development is revolving around emotionally-retarded, overpowered characters who constantly make illogical decisions('nuff said), it will be another wash, imo.

It is an isekai, but with a strong emphasis on slice of life. The story is mainly about the MC and his party travelling around the world, cooking, crafting, etc. with some occasional fights happening along the way. Basically, the MC acts like a foster father figure to a bunch of girls he saves after coming to that world (it was originally written in 2013, so cut it some slack), and they are the ones going on a fantasy adventure while he keeps them safe, crafts them OP gear, and makes them pancakes customised with cute animal paw-print-shaped marks while keeping an eye on them power-levelling in a dungeon. Is sound generic, because it is, but at the same time it's superbly well executed. The world building, the characters, the story, it's all fantastically well crafted and I still consider it one of the best written book series I've read so far (overall, not just isekai). Unfortunately, it totally doesn't work as an anime. The story is super slow paced, so it takes several volumes to get deep enough to be able to appreciate it (the anime only covers the first three), and, since it's aimed at adult readers, it's written in a way where they only tell you half of the story, while leaving key pieces of info hidden in plain sight for you to find on consecutive reads and piece together on your own to figure out the rest (they skipped all of this in the anime as you might have guessed). As such, it became a go-to example of a boring template anime with nothing going for it, despite being reasonably well made. I mean, the MC even looks like Kirito... Still, I strongly recommend reading the books for it. The web novel is already completed and fully translated online, with side stories for it still coming out from time to time, and the light novel, that was almost entirely rewritten, and that the anime and manga are based on, is currently at 29 volumes, 17 translated into English. If you're into smartly written fantasy with a heart-warming vibe, you honestly can't do much better than this one.
