English Dub Announced for Koe no Katachi!

Scrolling through Facebook when I saw the announcement of a Koe No Katachi english dub.

I know there's a lot of controversy behind dubs and I'm a bit anxious, but it'd be great if this were to play in theaters around the world.

I'm excited to hear the voice actors and the overall take on it. They even got a deaf voice actor to play Shouko, and even though the preview is short it still looks pretty good on that alone. I see some good actors in the list in the link above.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Not really much to go on, as the clip is so short and it's only two characters. I thought it sounded alright, I've definitely heard worse.

Reddit is already on it.

Hibike is the one I'm constantly asking a dub for actually. Koe no Katachi was inevitable.

it sounds good and the dubbing company is putting a lot of effort into it. i might watch it dubbed if the dub is good.

Nishimiya English voice actor is deaf. She probably wasn't born deaf.

Well, as I said, she doesn't sound deaf. She sounds more like she's five. But that's the least of the issues.

I quite like most of the voice acting in this (After the first 15 minutes are over), but I can't stand the translations. I'm fine with non-literal translations. But it seems like they're keeping it literal in the worst possible places, and changing it not only in the worst places to do so, but in the worst way too.

Edit: And so i did. Tbh, it's actually not bad. In fact, i enjoyed it. Not exactly a solid A dub, but good enough. And yes, Shouko's English VA did a good job.
