Anime exists for the same reason all media exists. And I don't know what it is. It's all so weird, like I assume 10000 years ago people had similar forms of entertainment. But modern era is lacking therefore it's using old tricks.
Edit: or just that some japanese guy drew some weird cartoons and it became a money making machine still effective to this day.

In the ww2 japan was bombed by nuclear and after the war economy was collapsed and people was depressed. Anime invented for giving people an entartainment method.

Same reason animation exists. Animation from all countries is bound to happen once the resources and tech for it become available; it's just a matter of when it's refined to enough of a degree that it becomes considered the first instance of animation from that country.

manga/anime are milking money machine. sometimes a mangaka change the story on porpuse just to sell merchndise which is was toryama did with all the forms
