| Shimanami Tasogare has some trans characters in its supporting cast. It actually handles this subject pretty well. Natsuyoshi Utsumi (from Shimanami Tasogare) is a transman, and Misora Shuuji is a character who is presented as unsure about their gender identity but not cis? Also Anonymous from the same manga is nonbinary. As far as more mixed portrayals? Yuujirou Shiratori from Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu is a transwoman who is sometimes treated more like an effeminate gay man by the cast but views herself as a woman. Magne and Yawara Chatora from BNHA are also a transwoman and a transman respectively. |

| I would like to add transman Mayatola Calvin from the anime series Imma Youjo. i should give a reason why this is so important, the 5 episode series follows the character named "Maya" a force of nature that transcends genre, history and gender. In all episodes the character is the center of sociopolitical turmoil and eventual disaster on the basis of gender and violence by the patriarchy. Even when Maya is reborn as a transman during the witch trials in France. Mayatola Calvin is assigned female at birth but raised as a man. He's gender will disrupt his future in the monarchy (remember this takes place during the middle ages) so while some may point out that while he has to conceal himself he refers to himself as a man during the episode. Be warned as this series contain assault, violence and tragedy beyond description. A solid story nonetheless and a forgotten gem of anime regardless of content. |
