| Although this series has been adapted to death by now, I still look forward to it. The live action Japan ones were fairly good and I loved the live action tv series one tbh. I don't really care if L is black or anything. Just hope he can act like L. There's also that other live action that Japan recently made called Death Note Light Up the New World. I haven't seen it yet though because I can't seem to find it online. Will definitely watch that and the Netflix one. |

| Lol the movie can just fck off. Not only do they not accept Asian actors, but they also changed their Japanese names. Light Turner... just wtf? And Light is supposed to be a handsome, smart, popular and perfect guy that's actually very dark inside. Let's hope that Wolff can pull that off. And honestly why the 'lots off' nudity, swearing and violence? Don't make Death Note look bad. This isn't Hellsing. |

| Netflix teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS9UW2xjdqE&ab_channel=NetflixUS%26Canada Already getting preemptive hate, which is not surprising considering the average intelligence of a YouTube viewer is slightly below a lime. I haven't seen the anime, so I'm actually not familiar with the story at all, but the teaser looks really interesting. I guess it would be asking too much, but I wish people wouldn't claim that they can tell whether a film will be great or not simply by a trailer, let alone a teaser trailer. So far, I haven't seen anything that indicates this will be a bad film. It's possible that it feels like it wouldn't be faithful to the manga/anime, which you should expect anyway because a) it was adapted to a screenplay, and b) it's adapted to a North American setting. It seems like the hate is really not about the merit of the film but rather that people don't feel like they're getting what they want, in which case, I guess that's too bad, but it has no impact on the merit of the film. |
