Is the ending the same or similar to light novel

Please no spoilers Hello guys, i wanted to watch the Anime Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri. I saw that it is adapted from a novel or light novel (not sure) and that novel seems to be completed. So:
1. does the anime offer a conclusion in the end or is it just a cliffhanger ending?
2. is the ending at least similar or the same as in the novel?

The anime does not have a conclusion in the sense that all the story threads have been resolved, no,
but it didn't really end on a cliffhanger, either.

Think of it as the end of a chapter or book 1 / 2 in a trilogy:
The immediate obstacles have been cleared, but the big bad is still ahead.^^

As to how closely it follows the source material... I haven't read the novel, but to my knowledge the manga follows it quite faithfully and so far manga and anime were pretty much the same (they left out a short substory from the manga, but that's the only difference up to this point).
