| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wise decision to leave the US Submarine and not change the history completely. Although they seem to have cornered themselves again as Captain Umezu said. New complications underway as Japan captain Yamato also seems concerned on the unidentified battle ship Mirai. Personally, this anime leaves asking radical questions every next episode. My hearts says, to completely wreck the US submarine but then I regain some logic and ponder history should never be changed. |

| They neither let the US Submarine getaway, nor did they destroy it completely, the crew has managed to successfully damage the submarine's hull and comms tower therefore disabling them from retaliating and/or immediately reporting this new intel to be delivered to the US HQ. A smart move by Captain Yosuke, but no matter how good of a move that is, it's still an undeniable fact that the US is soon to be aware of this 21st-century warship's existence and capability, just as how the other Japanese warships of its time have already known of this since their encounter with it. This is getting really interesting, how will the 21st-century crew deal with the secrecy of Mirai and the safety of its crew, especially now with their fuel and supplies that will eventually run out. If Mirai were a 2020s ship they would have a nuclear reactor, eliminating their need to refuel, but ofc, as advanced as this ship is, it's still an early 2000s ship. |

| The exchange between the American sub crew at the end was a little weird; the idea that the damaged sub would go after the departing ship is pretty silly, I think. If the damage isn't severe enough that they need to return to a major port for that reason (I can't say I know if this is the case), then the fact that 1940s submarines were quite slow should mean that any pursuit would be hopeless. They thought the Mirai was a crippled ship but the speed at which it was moving away should tell them that it's too fast to catch. Maybe I'm wrong but I got the impression that this show was going in for more nitty-gritty detail than this error (?) shows. |
