Hi guys,

Read the current threads for Ketsu to make sure this wasn't asked. It sort of has been, but replies were vague and mostly assumptions from people who hadn't read the LN.

Question is, can someone confirm that Ketsu ends and covers the 13 volume Light Novel series of Durarara? I've yet to see any comments from someone who had read it and someone who has also been watching the show.

I'd really like to see more Durarara personally and If if it turns out that Ketsu doesn't cover the whole story then its more intensive to read it, I'm aware there is a publishing sequel novel to Durarara called Durarara_SH and a another short sequel called Etsusa Oohashi Series, so its possible we may see an anime adaptation for one of the two - likely SH, if they're done with Durarara.

Hopefully someone cool and knowledgeable can fill me in. Done a bit of searching and haven't turned up with anything unfortunately. Hope the thread helps any others wondering the same thing. (Once answered, hopefully)

Cheers guys.

Yes, Ketsu will definitely cover the last three volumes of Durarara!! I mean X2 ten adapted four volumes in twelve episode so they could adapt the last books in the final cour and not end up being too fast paced.
Also this cour is not about building up the story anymore: these three books are the climax and the conclusion of Durarara!! series.
Also, as a light novel reader, I can see that the ending shows a lot of foreshadows from the last book.

On another note, I really hope they could manage to adapt Durarara SH, and Baccano too!

Really appreciate the response buddy. Its sad to see Durarara ending. I've had a wall scroll of the show up on my wall for over 4 years. It'll feel weird and sucky to know the story is now 'over' for me (as someone who hasn't read the LN *yet*). Have you been reading SH? I'd love to hear your take on that. Do you feel like it has a similar tone to Durarara!! ? Either way, would love to see it adapted.
Very light SH potential spoiler:

Also, there actually is an anime of Baccano, click here!. Incase you didn't know.

@snakes

You're welcome!
My bad, I actually saw Baccano, I just wish we could see a season 2 in a near future, because I heard good things about the light novels.

Regarding Durarara SH... I haven't read the first volumes yet, because I want to keep my mind fresh about these last volumes of Durarara and compare it with the anime adaptation. But I did some research in translated Japanese forums, so I know most of the event of the books.

If you want to read them or, in case an anime comes out of it, you want to watch it, you need to understand something about “SH”
I don't know if you know this but SH comes from an Asian proverb "Snake Hands" which means, adding something unnecessary to another thing, but in the future it can become something better that it was in the beginning (if you add a pair of arms to a snake, which are unnecessary for the animal, it can become a dragon). (Sorry, that was a rather poor explanation but you get the idea)

So Durarara SH can be seen now as an useless continuation to an already ended story but if we follow the proverb, Durarara SH, in the end, would end up becoming something better than Durarara itself.

So now I don’t want to have my hopes too high, but regardless of that, I will read them.
I will try to get into detail of Durarara SH without spoiling the end of Durarara, so you could get an idea about how it is: You need to take off from your head the idea of seeing the main characters of the first part again, I mean they are not dead or something but now they became secondary character with the exception of Celty and, to an extent, Shinra (Celty is still the center of the problems).

People are upset about Shizuo and Izaya not being in this new part but believe when I tell you their stories ended with Durarara, so showing more of them as if they are main characters now, would be stupid.

So this new part is in its mayority a new story: there is another main trio, whith personalities completely different of Anri, Mikado and Masaomi (I personally found more interesting the new ones).
For example, one of them fought with Shizuo and managed to keep the fight for a considerably amount of time!

Also some of the secondary characters became more revelant now: Togusa, Akane, Mairu, Kururi, Aoba among others. I’m really looking forward to know more about them though.

I hope this has helped you.

Sorry, this ended up being too long, I became such a Durarara trash!

Wow man, thanks for taking the time to write such a long paragrah. I had no idea that was what SH meant but your description made perfect sense. I can understand how its very important to know what that means hmm. I hope they do a baccano s2 since they're going to be wrapping up durarara ketsu now. Feels weird to think of a durarara story with Shizuo and Izaya not being pretty relevant to the story haha. Though I'm very glad that Celty still plays a good part in the story so far - with her being the center of problems.

Yeah I had a little look at the new characters designs and they're definitely interesting. I look forward to that part at least. So yeah, you really gave me a better idea of what's ahead. And no worries, long messages are always welcome haha.

I've always wanted a sequel covering the whole Alcatraz arc and that from the novels...

Doesn't seem far fetched now that they're wrapping up the Durarara animu *tear falls down cheek*

Sadly I don't think the Japanese were as big on it as us westerners. I don't know if it's just that they can't quite relate to the western lifestyle but those kind of shows tend to be a bit unpopular. Bebop was the same.

I can still hope the day comes though.

Oh really? Man that sucks, I was under the impression it was popular. That would explain a lot though, why it doesn't have a sequel yet for starters.. You would be right about the Japanese not being able to relate to the western lifestyle. I've seen shows go under for the same reason before.

Real shame.. yes yes.. hope is good.

Not only it wasn't as popular, but also the anime changed quite a lot of things from the novels that would make a sequel complicated.
