After watching the latest special, I got a weird feeling for some reason that saitama is a slightly shitty person. Sure he's a great hero but he seems like a dick when he's not doing hero things.

If you think that he already knows that his works wouldn't be considered his then you will probably understand his mood

He was an asshole at first. His only motivation for being a hero was doing it for cheap thrills and fans.

He's become more sympathetic currently.

Nah I think he's okay, he does save the people, like when sonic was being annoying, and he saved that kid from being hit by a car, I think Saitama's indifference can be taken as rudeness sometimes, but he's a nice guy.

He's somewhat cynical and kind of dick, though mostly he's just blunt with advice and opinion. And hates getting bugged with crap he has no interest in.

he's actually not a NEET. From what I gathered from some information on how Saitama got money before becoming an official hero from some of ONE's interviews, he basically did what ONE did when he decided to become a mangaka, and worked part-time (at a local convenience store, until it eventually shut down as City Z started getting abandoned as mysterious beings became more common) while he was doing his early training until he'd set aside enough money to live on for a while, and then quit his job and focused on being a hero for a hobby full time. And otherwise has just been pinching pennies to stretch it as long as possible. Which is why he's so poor at beginning of OPM, his funds have just about dried up.
