Are the emotions of the characters conveyed as well as dubbed as they are subbed?

Don't get me wrong, but did you ever hear better expressed emotions (this is a key point of this show) in dub? I don't think so :)

Emotions are always expressed better in sub... though they are some exceptions

Haruhi suzumiya, Kokoro Connect, FMA Brotherhood... I think these subs display pretty good emotions. No?

In my opinion, you can go wrong with either version.

A few seconds in, I was bothered by the voices in the sub (even though I hadn't watched the dub at all). However, just looking at the cast I can tell the dub isn't going to be better.

Basically, you're screwed whatever you go with.

EDIT: After watching the first episode again dubbed, I can say I prefer Clint Bickham's portrayal of Renji Asou over Motogi Takagi's. As long as I can tolerate all the other voices (seeing as the rest of the voice's weren't particularly strong in the sub anyway) I am probably going to watch it dubbed instead.

EDIT2: So I ended up watching the first episode twice because I was unhappy with the voices in the sub. And I have to say, I genuinely think the dub is better. This is REALLY surprising because I was fully expecting the dub to be horrible. I guess if the dub doesn't need to compete with something memorable, there's nothing to worry about. Still, it's really strange that I prefer the dub given all the bad omens surrounding it.
