Good AMV, some parts for scene selection can be improved and may help to do some custom compositional work in AE.

You asked for criticism, here you go:

QUIT speeding up the clips. They look extremely unnatural and noticeable. Time speed-up or slow-down is an effect and many editors typically over-saturate their videos with unnecessary effects. This one was no exception. Don't over-saturate your video with a bunch of effects. That includes speeding up.

Your font and scene selection is really good.

When you caption a foreign language to english, don't move the text. Leave the text alone.

Couple of Linear Wipes were slow

Quit re-branding yourself, no one is going to steal your video. And, even if they did, it won't get views. Good AMV editors will just find you if you're good.

So, obviously, I don't recommend this as a good AMV. There are too many technical details that fall on the wayside so I can't recommend this AMV to anyone.

HOWEVER, you, as an editor, knew that you needed to match this anime with this song and you just did your best to match the two.

That's really all there is too it. The technical details can be learned but the thing you should do, first and foremost, is solidify your concept, what you are attempting to show.

In your case, you focused on the relationship between the father and the daughter. You didn't include any unnecessary scene selection, and you didn't try to shower the AMV with insane effects. You kept your concept simple and just followed it through.

I just really love watching a good AMV so I am typically a bit... harsh on the subject of AMVs.

This might be a bit self bragging but I just won last week the "Best cheerful" prize at a beginner AMV contest. I myself don't really like this and I was first not going to submit it to the contest, but seems like someone liked it.

I personally didn't like this one but it got into a finale of an AMV contest so there must have been something good about it. The theme was horror, personally I chose awful material that doesn't really work.
