Bernkastel poses the challenge of a murder mystery, with no magic, faffing about, or tricks in "stage direction" familiar to previous games. The scenario presented:
• Eva, Rudolph, Rosa, Hideyoshi, Kyrie, and Genji are murdered in the mansion dining hall, which is discovered as locked. The survivors assemble in the mansion before beginning to separate amongst themselves.
• Krauss and Natsuhi are murdered in Natsuhi's chamber, which is discovered as locked. Following this, the room is sealed, as is the dining hall and mansion, and the survivors retreat to the guest house.
• Shannon leaves the guest house, and is discovered murdered in the courtyard. Because of Shannon's death, Kanon "disappears". The survivors return to the guest house.
• Gohda and Kumasawa are discovered murdered in the first-floor servant room (which was unlocked). The survivors move to ensure the guest house's security.
• Nanjo is found murdered at the entrance to the guest house. Despite this, the guest house is found to have been locked perfectly. Jessica flees into the the courtyard, and Battler, George, and Maria give chase.
• Jessica is discovered dead, with her throat slashed, by Battler, George, and Maria. She is the last to die.

Each servant possesses a master key which may only be used by that servant and which is destroyed upon their death. No other keys of any kind exist, and all windows are barred from use as entrances or exits for the purposes of a closed-room murder. Gohda, Kumasawa, and Nanjo are found with their throats slashed, and this is used as cause to eliminate Jessica, George, Battler, Maria, and Nanjo from suspicion from their deaths (as none of them had been bloodied to any degree, as such a kill would arguably necessitate). Further, the purple text is introduced by Bernkastel as another magical font, which colors statements made by the characters that are guaranteed as true, just as the red; with the exception of any culprit, who may state falsehoods in purple all the same.

So now, the quintessential question… Whodunnit?

"People who are not the culprit cannot aid the culprit" good rule. I didn't like the bribes BS theorized in the first four games from episode 7.

I like Bern's simplification of the new game
