Another new interpretation!?

Jeez, is there really a need for yet another Appleseed remake? We've had the original anime version, the 2004 CGI version and its sequel Ex Machina, then Appleseed XIII, and now this.

I liked Appleseed, but I'm not sure how much I can take the same story being retold over and over, especially when there never seems to be any significant differences in the interpretation, there's always Olympus, Briareos, Deunan, Hitomi, Yoshi, and generally Athena and her aide too. I'm not sure what this hopes to accomplish.

maybe Appleseed is profitable so they try to retold and retold the story lol, im still gonna watch it anyway.

I completely agree with you SparrowSabre7. This movie by itself is good (and them graphics are mad), but it just doesn't connect with the 2004 movie. Even though in wiki it said this is a prequel to 2004 one and ex machina. (I know wikipedia is editable though, but still).

I thought I was the only one who felt that this isn't on the same 'timeline' as 2004 and machina, but so glad there are others lol

This isn't related to the 2004 movie and Ex Machina. Because in that timeline, Deunan didn't even know Briareos was a cyborg until she got to Olympus, which means they weren't together surviving in a wasteland.

Remake? Same story? Nonsense. The story takes place, before they reach Olympus, the city is only mentioned and there's no Yoshi, Hitomi or Athena. This is kind of a prequel. Okay, that in this movie Deunan already knows that Briareos is a cyborg, is a contradiction. But that's no big deal imo.
