Yea Treecko was a letdown being pure grass, but Swampert is the beast against electric types since it cant be touched.

But i believe the 1st gen has dual types also except Blastoise

4th gen because well thats the first pokemon game in my posession that will always be mine since well my mom sorta barred me from watching pokemon or even owning a game after watching it a few times when i was younger because it had monsters and thus in her crazy mind at the time monsters equated to evil and devil worship (you know the type of people I'm talking about.) and yet she allowed me to keep my pokemon toy i got from burgerking (it was one of thoose mini gbc things only it had charmander in it and a cute little movie with misty in it) the ban ended when i moved in with dad of course i then moved back in with mom and she realised that the mold in her house was causing her problems (which i think contributed to her barring me from pokemon in earlier years ) and started to look back on some of her past judgements (as well as remodel the main part of the house ) and relised that her ban on pokemon(as well as halloween,harry potter,digimon,power rangers,etc. except sailor moon) earlier was abit unreasonable and rushed and so she unbanned thoose things (even though I never watched power rangers again because I saw one episode on jetix and it was way horribler than I remembered). How ever generation one pokemon still hold a place in my heart .But the other reason why generation 4 starters are so revered in my eyes is because of it having a penguin starter and I love penguins!

true. But until the day they come up with a pony/pegasis/unicorn pony that over kills like a Celestia and can run as fast as a rainbow dash I'm sticking with gen 4 because their evolved forms all look like they aren't fooling around. even though tortera has a bit of a difficulty with flying types as a drawback for being such a giant. It's so big you can have a moving picnic with a few friends on its back for crying outloud . Plus I don't think it will mind if you do so since its part grasstype and grasstypes are stereotypically calm and aren't subject to hotheadedness.

until it evolves to charzard then its awesome.btw why the hell havent they made an actual dragon type starter or at least revamped charzard to make him a duel type yet? I mean charzards in the dragon egg group, but yet he isn't a dragon trype.unlike Charzard,Sceptile doesnt even look like a dragon but yet its in the dragon egg group too.Heck even serperior looks more dragon like than sceptile(a much asian and elegant dragon look alike must I add) and its not even in the dragon egg group and if it was in the dragon egg group and a dragon type it would probably upset the rayquaza fans to death because they would see it as a kick ass ripoff of their favorite legendary which I would be perfectly fine with to be honest since it would be nearly imposible to beat then .I'm not really upset about this its just I question some of the logic in type assigning.

You can in HGSS, after you defeat Red.

I voted gen3 because of Blaziken, but I think gen4 has the overall best designs for starters.

While the 1st gen will always have a special place, my vote however go to the Gen IV mainly because their final evolution have an unique type (save for Infernape)..
