ssjokg said: Had to use 3 seals for the 3rd battle. mfw I finished the game with Benkei being last man standing. How the hell did I forgot him in the party? Anyway, Mashu coming back tolife seems a bit bad. Pretty sure it was established before that true revival is impossible in Nasuverse.I think it was in Mahoyo. As for Solomon/Roman. Isnt it quite bad that he was erased from history? If Okabe taught me one thing is that this is really REALLY bad. And the Throne of Heroes being affected seems bad to me as well. Writing wise. It's supposed to exist outside tme axis so that it isnt affected, but now it was directly affected. I have a bit of free time now, so let's see. Mashu wasn't revived because she didn't really die. The thing about Mashu is that she should've died ages ago, as her life force was extinguished and she was only able to continue existing due to the fusion with Galahad, whose mana substited her life force. The more she used Galahad's power, the more she used the mana that was literally keeping her alive. Galahad was quite literally her resuscitation device. In the final singularity she chose to use her NP to block Solomon's NP to protect the MC, which caused all of her mana; life force, to be drained. What Good Guy Primate Murder did was transfer all of the mana it accumulated over time to substitute Galahad's mana, essentially giving her enough for her body and soul to continue living as much as a normal human body and soul can. As I said before in that anime thread, apparently alternate universes have certain criteria to be allowed to exist by Akasha. An alternative universe where no chance of prosper can ever occur is a possibility that will always be rejected by Akasha. So, in short, there really isn't an infinite amount of possible worlds. A world like Camelot's singularity would never be allowed by Akasha as CCO would ensure true peace via Rhongomyniad AKA using a conceptual power to eventually end everything. What Solomon did was use his magecraft to enforce a certain reality on Akasha, very similar to how a Marble Phantasm can be enforced on Akasha and through Akasha, to allow these worlds to exist, while still counting as deviations and not contradiction to Akasha, and then use the almost infinite supply of mana in a holy grail to sustain it. Therefore, once the grail was secured in a singularity, that world ceased to exist. And because this world was originally rejected by Akasha, absolutely none of its remnants are allowed to exist, and that includes the spirits that entered the Throne as a result. On that point, only a normally occurring world can have an entry into the Akasha-controlled Throne. It's not that the throne can't be affected because it's outside time and space, it's that it's outside time and space because it's only under the influence of the root, literally the source and end of every single thing, including the Throne. Some parts of this were explicitly stated in GO and some were heavily hinted at in Extella and its material. |

ssjokg said: I see, thanks. Still, Akasha cherry picking which universe to write down in its records seems a bit off. Why Akasha does this was hinted at in Extella. The process of infinitely expanding is impossible for Akasha because Entropy is apparently a thing in the Nasuverse. Every dead end possibility; no future, uses a lot of energy and gets Akasha closer and closer to an inevitable natural end. Akasha allows only the worlds with future to prolong the universe's life as much as possible. I guess you can think of it as a defense mechanism. It's like how Gaia tries to eliminate humanity when their existence started to cause Gaia to slowly drain its mana and die. It's efficiently closing an open faucet. |

Then that means that the world of Notes can still be saved and the modified humans will somehow defeat the Types and possibly "fixing" Earth, or else the remnants of humanity face extinction. Am I thinking this wrong? |

Am I thinking this wrong? There's a lot we don't know about the world of Notes or what Akasha classifies as an acceptable future to have a satisfying answer on that. As Notes, Tsukihime and Extella established, there's more to the universe than humanity and Gaia. Maybe Akasha would be satisfied with a sophisticated enough human-based AI on the Moon Cell for all we know. |

Nasu blog 2016/12/26 : Human Foundation Restored >『Fate/Grand Order』第一部、多くのプレイヤーの戦いによってめでたく完結となりました。 >This is the end of Fate/Grand Order PART ONE Story for the final chapter remained the same as in the initial planning phase; It was always going to be about Goetia and Roman and Mashu and Fou(r). Chapter 7's script was done in the first week of October while the final chapter was done in the last, but November was spent putting together Christmas and 7 so they only had one month to actually make the final chapter. Christmas was in November because Nasu wanted the final chapter to come immediately after 7, even it was dumb from a business POV. They prioritised story over Christmas. Yeah confirmed nothing for the rest of the year (he says to go collect EXP or something) He recommends reading the boss materials because they might be relevant. The final chapter's scenes with the servants showing up: Chapters 2 and 4 were done by Sakurai, 3 and 5 by Higashide. He told them to keep it at 10 kb of text, 15 at most for each chapter with 25 at most for two, but they both gave him 20 kb per chapter. He complained but they pointed out that he said the chapter would be 40 kb then wrote 120 kb. There is a "yearly item supply", a sort of "item budget" thing, inside the game, which determines drops. They loosened this in the Time Temple so that you can just get all the shit you want. He actually fucking says "just like assets in real life" >現実の資産同様 >There is a "yearly item supply", a sort of "item budget" thing, inside the game, which determines drops. (Wait what. Drops are artificially limited? They're not by chance?) He says that while you may think that Ars Armadillo Salmonella may instakill your entire front line, but if you use your experience up to this point there are ways to get past it. "This is the last battle, don't skimp on the command spells!" He praises Sugita's performance and how he uses different voices for different demons. He especially likes Goetia who's filled with rage, but this is not the sort of anger that comes from hate but is screaming "why". He now has Andromalius speaking in his head whenever he buys stuff off Amazon ("Why seek more!?" "Why hoard!?" and not mentioned on the blog but "Dispose of everything unneeded!" is presumably relevant too) Most of the demons only got emotions at the very end, but Flauros got his emotions very early on. That's why he was able to troll Chaldea while the other demons were mostly machine-like. That's also why Flauros never excepted their loss, and didn't give up, till the very end (posted this before but he's the last demon to die). He was also the one demon that empathised with Mashu. Yamanaka Kotetsu was commissioned to do the demons after he did the main visual for the UBW movie. The designs were perfect so they got him to do Tiamat. Tiamat is supposed to be the "ultimate form of the Sakura-type character". There are also rough cuts of a little girl version of the Femme Fatalle, wait for chapter 7's Material. The reason why Tiamat has 11 Lahums stronger than demons is because they're her equivalent of the demons, but while Goetia has 72 she only has 11 so quality over quantity. "Thanks, Yamanaka-san! Now all we need to do is wait for Holmes to get in!" About the OP, Shikisai: When making the song they explained how the story would end to Sakamoto, and she made the song based on the game's themes. Also, Nasu wrote the plot to FGO while listening to Sakamoto's song Scrap. He thinks Roman's ten years is close to what's depicted in Scrap and actually told Takeuchi that he wanted to use it as FGO's OP, and Takeuchi is the one who said they might as well get her to make an original song. When commissioning the OP Nasu's requested something like Scrap. >The story bit at the end Short story where Guda goes back to their room, has a vision of Roman, and bids him farewell again (also referring to him as "Doctor Romantic"). 俺/わたし は 顔を上げて/うつむいて、唇を噛んで、 こみ上げるものを必死に堪えた。 He fits in versions for both genders (俺/ore is presumably Gudao and わたし/watashi is presumably Gudako; "Ore" looks upwards and "watashi" looks downwards as they fight back their tears. http://www.typemoon.org/bbb/diary/ |

The special Epilogue Nasu wrote for PART ONE on his blog [SPOILERS for final chapter of course]: The inside of Chaldea was welling with emotions. It wasn’t just that we had won the battle and returned alive. The staff members were made known of the “world’s expansion” by the communications made with the outside world, and were given the mental preparation to welcome the visitors who would be coming henceforth. The machine set up in the snow mountain was a signaling device, and it was used to send a helicopter to us from the world below. “Then, Senpai, see you at the lounge one hour later!” I part ways with Mashu, and walk through the corridors of Chaldea alone. As I sense human activity from the noises from the control room, my heart calms. I traverse the pathway with the procedure I got used to in this year, then arrive at my room. A light sound of air. The familiar sound of the door to my room opening. And, ‘Yes, there’s someone in– wait, WHAAAAAT!? Who on earth are you!? This is an empty room, my place to skip work!? Who gave you permission to come in here!?’ I hear the sound from a long time ago, when I had yet to know the name. “——–” Of course, it is an hallucination, and an illusion. I had simply misheard the staff members’ laughter from afar as something like that. I [raise my head / look down, biting my lips,] desperately enduring the things welling up inside. Goodbye, Doctor Romantic. May this mishearing turn into something beautiful one day. |

She's a designer baby, so she has a limited lifespan, Galahad or no. She's not a homunculus but a human though she still only had about 18 years to live. I suggest you read the prologue of Camelot because that's where it was explained. The beginning of Babylonia even has Solomon/Goetia say that the grail couldn't save her so everything she was doing is pointless, life is worth living, yada yada. She died while taking on Goetia's Ars Almadel Salomanis. While she can block it, the heat is another thing so her body was still incinerated. That's why only the shield remained. What Fou did was truly revive her because in that space of Goetia's territory, the concept of death isn't counted. Plus what he did was really powerful, even on a higher level that True Magic/Sorcery. Here's a translation of the revival from BL: Mashu: ------------ Highlight for important parts.???: ---------- -----Thank goodness. You're still here, Mashu. ???: You were completely obliterated. You were at the end of your life. ???: Despite that, your conscious is still in this void. Despite that, you still have things to do. ???: That's why I won't say you’ve earned your rest just yet. But I will say bye-bye. ???: I have little time, so I will say it bluntly. Mashu: ---You are--- ???: You might think I’m being pushy. ???: Then again, that magus did say that you have to be aggressive when performing acts of goodwill, so I will try that. ???: I am going to use up the magic energy I've accumulated over several centuries to create a miracle not even sorcery can achieve ???: Complete resurrection of the dead, though death in the Time Temple isn’t counted in the real world. ???: What I am about to do is transfer the power of my destiny to you. Enough to completely wash out the remaining three days of your life ???: But since I haven't matured yet, I can only make your lifespan the same as any normal person. ???: I'll turn into just a beast when I do this. I will be losing my intelligence and special nature after all. ???: Until now, there had been intent in my actions in your conversations, but they probably will be just the normal cries of an animal from now on. ???: It’s nothing to be upset about. After all, as far as you two are concerned, nothing will change. ??: But, well, I can’t escape the feeling that it will be lonely. And that's why I just wanted to say farewell to you one last time. ???: Goodbye, Mashu Kyrielight. Your journeys were refreshing to me. ???: So much so that I could retain this form to the end when in most cases I had become something hideous. Mashu: Wait… Fou-san....Fou-san! ???: The magus had once said this as he sent Cath Palug off. "Go seek the beautiful." ???: Yes, I truly did see something beautiful. ???: There are evils that can be defeated without crossing blades, and there are answers that can be reached because no blood was shed. ???: Congratulations, o good folk of Chaldea. @belatkuro Ah, I guess I misunderstood some of the early translated parts. I've read the part about PM's "miracle", but the bit about actually ressurecting her was badly worded. That along with the bit about him using all of his mana misguided me. Thanks for the correction :D That aside, I feel like this is a bit of a cop out on Nasu's part. Not only was this ability not foreshadowed, like at all, it's kinda weird for the entity whose abilities are tailored to murder primates to have an ability to revive one. Considering that the final chapter was planned from the very start, I'm confused as to why this wasn't handled better. I mean he did it so well with Illya in HF's True End, so I just can't help but look at this revival with a very confused " huh?". I like my misunderstanding better TBH. If there was anything I didn't know or flew over my head, please go ahead and explain it to me, if there was any. ShinsoPriest said: Finally, my first max bond CE. All I can reason with it is that PM has authority over primates, having the capability to wipe them out. This could include death as well as life of humans. Hence it has the power to revive them. Flimsy but that's my headcanon. For foreshadowing though, we've seen Fou protect Mashu and Guda in America against Cu Alter's Gae Bolg and had Merlin project himself through him for a short time to talk to Cu Alter. And in Babylonia, we saw Merlin order Fou to evacuate Medusa/Ana to safety, in which it teleported her off. These parts could say that Fou is really not a normal familiar even if he is Merlin's. The revival power did come out of nowhere but Nasu probably wanted a much more happier ending after losing Roman. So there. |

Oh, i didn't mean foreshadowing the identity or the motivation, as that was done pretty well IMO, i meant foreshadowing the revival ability. That's why i gave Illya as an example of how her ability to use HF to transport Shirou's soul and how she showcased a version of it in both Fate and HF AND spent a really long scene talking about it which seemed weird at the time as it had no bearing on the plot, as far as we knew, and seemed like just a cool bit of world and character building then. As for the revival ability in F/GO, it's a deus ex machina if I've ever seen one. It came out of nowhere to save a main character from death and with no explanation as to why PM has it in the first place. I know that Nasu really likes happy ending and that "people who struggle and try so very hard need to be rewarded by the end" and all that, but it needs to make sense at the very least. I want to accept your theory, but i hope Nasu goes into more details on the Beasts, their numbering, abilities and state of being in the Nasuverse in the 7th and final chapters materials that are sure to come out pretty soon, or, better yet, he left a lot of that open on purpose, so hopefully we hear more about PM in the second season. |

Well, maybe using massive centuries worth of magical energy just has that effect. |

That is one convenient naturally occurring phenomenon. Also, i don't think so, it has to be an ability. A weakened PM can't possibly have more mana than a Holy Grail, an almost infinite repository of mana. Fate/complete material III said: Third True Magic: Materialization of the soul, in other words, the magic that realizes true immortality. When accomplished, the practitioner will acquire an unlimited source of magical energy due to the soul becoming analogous to a perpetual motion machine. The Greater Grail tries to do this and the best it can do is to keep the soul in the body without dispersing or rotting à la Zouken. It can't resurrect a soul, and we're talking an unlimited repository of mana here. Even PM says that it's beyond True Magic when he resurrects Mashu. It sounded like an innate ability of his. Not to mention, Sorcery was never about equivalent exchange, as it flat out allows those who touched the root to perform miracles via conceptual abilities. It's an exclusive ability that can't be taught or passed down. I haven't read Mahoyo, but isn't it well known that Aoko has low magical capacity and is therefore a fairly average ranking magus, if she solely depended on Magecraft? It's safe to assume that these "miracles" are exclusive to certain beings. |

Mana's just energy. That's like saying if you stored every bit of energy the sun gives off for several centuries, you'd be able to revive someone. No. It doesn't change much. If you can't make a plant grow with a hammer, you won't be able to do so with a bigger hammer. |
