| because i really like violet's character arc, she starts off as someone who knows nothing about life but as the story goes on she learns to become her own person and come to terms with her past, despite everything she moved forward and that always stuck with me. also it's a really good show sq |

why do you like your fave anime? I watched Food Wars a couple years ago (Prior shounen experience was Ao No Exorcist/Blue exorcist only) Food wars is essentially a shounen anime but instead of fighting in hand-to-hand combat, they fight with cooking. The visuals of the food they make are so well drawn and the colour really emphasises it's beauty. The OSTs are so well placed and are so apt for each scene and situation. They also for the most part explain what happens in the cooking process which is an extra bonus. The characters alongside their character development over the seasons is so charming to watch. I love this show to bits. My one strife with this show is I wish they took out all the ecchi. It's just unnecessary, the show would be elevated without it. It almost takes away from the show and makes it harder to recommend. There's almost always sadly going to be the low hanging fruit "oh you're watching it for this right?" and I try to explain that I'm not 😅 SQ |

| i think there a so very few people that can understand the sheer uniqueness and depth of storytelling that vinland saga has. the themes are easy to understand and the story can be followed by just about everyone but i wrote stories professionally for a decade and scant very few touched the dedication to longform storytelling and character writing that yukimura-sensei achieved with vinland saga. parallels and connecting metaphors from beginning to end all bundled up into a story that oozes intention, which is perhaps the most important part of it all. people create masterpieces all of the time, because people, regardless of what anyone might think are extraordinarily beautiful. but few people do so intentionally. loose ends, nice but meaningless moments, retconning, making it up as you go, these are all common things a writer does, even at the highest level. i dont believe vinland saga was written even for a moment with any of that in mind. it being popular and the anime only being early in the story works against it in the eyes of the 'elite' anime crowd, but its one of the few anime in the top 100 that is without numerous writing flaws sq |

| I like very much how it's directed. The atmosphere surrounds you with your head, you can really feel characters' thrill or wrath or calmness or joy. And the characters are very nice and charismatic, even the MC is, despite he's classical Ordinary Japanese Student he's really good Ordinary Japanese Student. And the graphics is plesant, neither overdetailed nor too abstract. My favorite anime is Another btw. And I like the phrase that wasn't in original but was added in russian translation: Akazawa_Izumi said: You're a passenger pedestrian looking like yourself! Only those have a right who've seen the death and was baptized with blud! What do you usually eat when you're hungry but it's not time for a lunch/dinner/supper yet? |
