Well, I think Tiamat CGI looked absolutely horrid when the shot was focusing on her. It looked like a monster model from a cheap PS3 anime game. But in those shots that either didn't focus on her from up-close or treated her as more like a background element, I think she looked cool and imposing as fuck:
I know it's a pretty repetitive and exhausting point, but I do feel like in these instances, the CGI worked to grant her a more otherworldly and apocalyptic look to boost how terrifying and cool looking Tiamat's design is. Still though, the shots that went more and up personal with her were down-right unpalatable so it'd be nice if that's something they worked to improve on with the coming episodes. But much like Gorgon's awful CGI, what matters really is how well it'll mesh with the actual fight scenes. I think I stopped minding how awful Gorgon looked after they made up for it with the quality of the fight choreography and sakuga that they put forward, and given they've p much directly said that they plan to make fights more and more bombastic and visually-pleasing as the anime progresses, I'm expecting some amazing work in the upcoming Tiamat clashes.
That said, aside from the awful CGI shots, I think the general quality of the episode was fucking superb. They really drive home the point that YES, TIAMAT IS UNBEATABLE AND TERRIFYING AS FUCK. It was kinda gratifying to see how they all went into celebratory mode and calmed down after thinking they took her down only for lol NOPE, the Spirit Origin calculator to start going up slow to extremely fast again and Romani dropping a visible shit into his pants. But the best part is her entire ascent from the ocean and how it immediately establishes how overpowering of a presence she has with Ritsuka shitting literal bricks into his pants with those facial expressions and Quetz further driving home the point that they can't do jack shit. Then there's the entire meeting about her abilities with Mashu going mental over how overpowered Tiamat really is. I can't stress enough how much I loved the over-all execution of the apocalyptic atmosphere the episode had going on until the last quarter of it.
As for the comedy bit, I think this was the first time I had an actual legitimate lol irl about the entire damegami Ishtar gimmick. Who ever was put in charge of executing the facial expressions and dynamics of the scene did the job A+. In retrospect though, I'm kinda sad that we only have 4 more episodes worth of this show to go on. There's the Camelot adaption coming up, but those are movies. I'm hoping that we get adaptions of further FGO chapters going forward since I'd especially like to see Salem and Anastasia adapted. Wishful thinking is that they don't skip over any of the EoRs or LBs even if Agartha is subpar, but I'm probably not gonna have that wish granted.
Also friendly reminder to everyone that the Tiamat we see in Babylonia is at like 10% of her actual full power.
