I feel a little immature spending so much time on anime at 20. But I love it. I just don't want to be seen as weird.

I think it's ok to watch anime even if the person who is watching anime is at 40's because it's like watching series on T.V or a movie

Concerning the old guy's pic: "Here he is posing with his 17-year-old grandaughter’s enormous (and enormously busty) Cattleya statue."

I'd like to meet that 17-year-old girl who buys Queen's Blade figurines and chooses Cattleya out of all the available options.

A lot of animes are rated for age 13 and up. And there are some reasons why.

It's really for any age, because unlike most Western cartoons, anime is divided into many different genres and age groups, such as magical girls are typically for younger girls and Shounen for boys. Anime can tackle some incredibly deep philosophical subjects unlike many other shows, and therefore does not pose a real age limitation. But I honestly don't think the idea of a 50 year old man watching ecchi anime with filled with young girls is very appealing...

Animes are like video games. Too much narrow minded people categorize you into immature category if you keep playing/watching them past the lethal limit, usually the one where you're supposed to be married, with two children, and no freetime lol

Anyway, as long as you enjoy them you can keep going. I've some friends who are +40 y-old and still love video games and animes. Our current generation had computers and all that stuff spoonfed from the craddle and it'll go on till you're into the grave baby :D

Don't listen to old people who will tell you you're too old for that shit, they don't understand a damn thing about this 9 times out of 10 lol

That's where you're partly incorrect, anime is an art style.
When you think about it that way, there are only lovers and haters + the critics

This.

Though if you're aiming to watch all animes of that season, and coincidentally there is a show of magical girls, it is an exception.

Personally I am getting up there in age myself but I don't think that there is any age for anything. I started to learn Marderin 3 years ago on my own and this year I am going to start Japanese ... classes start in 3 weeks >_< Cant wait..

So for all the younsters here before passing jugement and saying that all anime are for kids.. think about it , you will at one point be where some of us are now..

There is no age limit for anime. There's so many genres of anime out there that can appeal to anyone of any age. Mangas as well for that matter.

To me it's all about genres, story and the individual's personal taste.

For example, everyone that I know love the Simpsons. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Beano was originally aimed at children. Yet, despite this, I know plenty of adults who still read the Beano and one of them is over 60. My Nana, loves Spongebob and Tom and Jenny and she's 82 this year. :D I think she likes Spirited Away as well, I need to ask her for confirmation. I think one of the most genuinely popular animated films out there is Lion King. Originally aimed at children but loved by adults as well.

If you think about all the animated films and shows out there that appeals to all ages, anime shows/films are actually no different. I don't see anime as a genre, I see it as a category that encompasses genres like comedy, romance, action, horror, thriller, sci-fi, slice of life and even erotica. Well, Hentai.

Really, it's not about whether someone is too old for anime, it's weather certain anime shows appeal to the individual. I got into Naruto and Dragonball in the early 2000's ish and it's only last year that I started to take a keen interest in other anime shows as well. :D

No age limit, just that people have less time when they grow older (having children, work etc)

Same goes for gaming.
The internet has gone worldwide these past 10 years so old gamers and old anime watchers will be normal later.

Welcome to the real world. Addiction to anything is extreme, regardless of age. Everything in moderation works best but age is irrelevant when it comes to enjoying hobbies.

If you wanna generalize, we'll never be to old to enjoy cartoons, simply our taste in anime will change. 'Cause I'll admit, you'll never catch me watching anymore digimon.

And why is that? Why is wrong to enjoy things when you turn 16?(or 18 in some countries).

I only started watching anime when I got out of high school, I never liked anime back when I was in high school(for whatever reason, to busy with other hobbies, I suppose).

I started watching Anime when I was ~18.
Now I'm 21. I had my phases when I was to busy to watch any Anime or just wasn't in the mood for months but I can't see myself dropping Anime out of my life in the next few years.
I won't say that I will never stop watching Anime cause I don't know whats about to happen in the future but as long as I enjoy watching I will continue regardless of my age!
