Really reminds me of Kimi ni Todoke, except a bit more realistic feeling. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though. Definitely enjoying this one and gonna keep watching.

People have to remember this is about a teenage girl, of course she is going to think she is uglier then she actually looks. Literally everyone who went to high school that wasn't perfect in the looks department are going to have anxiety about how they look.
Go read Berserk and One Piece they're the best thing ever

It feels like watching Bokuyaba, but with a lower production quality. The main characters are similar, but Hana is more relatable than Ichikawa. The anime is quite slow-paced in the beginning, but in the second half, the pacing becomes enjoyable. Although Hana feels insecure and overthinks at first, by the end, she's able to communicate quite fluently. And it looks like we'll get a romantic rivalry in the next episode.

Another classic: the unpopular or unattractive girl and the handsome, outgoing guy. This definitely gives me Honey Lemon Soda and Skip to Loafer vibes.

The OP really caught my attention: it's very catchy and rhythmic, I really liked it. But honestly, the main reason I'm watching this (besides the odd male addiction to this kind of romantic anime) is Saori Hayami. Her work is always exceptional, and I highly doubt this one will be any different. I'm hoping that Hana's character will surprise me. It's been a solid start.

This is such a beautiful show, i nearly cried during this episode.

Anyone who suffers from social anxiety will recognize these traits; the constant overthinking and stressing over the smallest stuff that doesnt even really matter, the self-doubt, seeing people around you act normally while you need to try your hardest to achieve that level, people taking advantage of you due to your willingness to help others so they will like you... it really f's you up

Thankfully i have gotten better at managing it as i grow older, but it never goes away and will always influence how you act. Having a supportive person/people you can trust (like Ueno) goes a very long way though. It was so beautiful how he saw her get mistreated and went to help her :')

I'm giving it a chance because the couple here are a girl with a background character appearance (for real) and a very nice guy (bordering on princessy).
Plus I want to see how the girl's wish for her life to become a “Shōjo” manga is fulfilled.
I tried to post in Spanish — the mods were not amused.
“English only, thank you.” Okay. So much for being used.
“Just copy-paste and click,” they smile, like that will make it right,
But language gates aren’t freedom — they're censorship in white.

This seem like a harmless anime but somehow there's a thing or two that tick me off, like how she read many shoujo manga yet she doesn't know that the majority of shoujo protagonist are unpopular girls. I can't help myself but compare this anime with other shoujo anime like Kimi ni Todoke and Honey Lemon Soda all the time and see all the similarity.
@phantomfandom I think the disconnect the mc has to real shojo manga is bc the show is actually based off of a seinen manga. So I'm guessing the author went after their own idea of sterotypical shojo manga instead of how real shojo manga is

I don't like the MC girl, she is so self-centred and doesn't see reality around her. Sure, she is shy and anxious, and the anime is probably trying to pull it off as cute for us to feel sorry for her. But it doesn't look cute, it looks delusional. People are just chilling, no one cares what she does, she has no real reason to think so lowly of them, even in junior school she had friends and no one was bullying her based on ugliness neither in the past nor in this school. So all these baseless doom thoughts come off as ugly, and I'm not talking about appearance.

I have a slight fascination for romances like this even though I don’t like this kind of superficial plot at all, but I’d say I dislike even more the characters’ line of reasoning. I mean, there is a line of reasoning, but I just can’t understand how it tries to fit a circle into a triangular hole. In the same way, comedies lately have been making less and less sense, forced and completely unfunny. What really strikes me is that even though she knows she’s not that pretty, he falls for her because of the little things she does. In a more interesting setting, that would be for a better reason. It’s like comparing Tsurezure Children to Itazura na Kiss: comedy can exist, but don’t erase the smart characters, because even clowns have some brain. Build an interesting romance development while shaping a natural comedy with small things, all in due time. Anyway, the animation is at the same level as any other school romance anime, static and not really worth commenting much on since the story doesn’t demand it. It doesn’t seem bad, but all I’ve found in the cast so far are two idiots who are going to follow the most obvious and nonsensical development path until one day they end up dating
