Is labelling to each other with "too idealistic like naive" and "too extreme like fascist" really necessary?

I agree that fiction can set up a story that's very different from real world such as what if Thanos is objectively correct. But I honestly think a situation similar to AoT can arise in the real world or parallel universe. In history, racism(different skin colors) can be used to differentiate people as not really people. Religion can be used to dictate belief and policy and justify cruelty. And it's also not impossible for "big people" to potentially exist in our physical universe. After all, we know there exists small/big fish, small/big cats, small/big birds etc.

There is no way that a situation similar to AoT can happen in the real world for multiple reasons.

First the hatred towards Eldians is unmatched. There hasn't been nor will there ever be a nation/power so overwhelmingly stronger than their opponents as the Eldian empire was with the titans. Eldian's got the titan powers in ancient times, a real world equivalent would be if a barbarian tribe in central Europe stumbled upon tanks and nukes in 100 B.C.
Think of the Eldian Empire as Nazi Germany but lasting 2000 years. Every nation in that world apart from Hizuru hates them so much that they all have them in interment camps, their leaders even easily get onboard "a final solution" just by one clown charming them in a party.

Second, the few supernatural things that differentiate our world from the AoT's world enable final outcomes that are impossible in reality. Specifically the Eldian hive mind with a single control point and the Rumbling. Those two as weapons are so precise and destructive that real world nukes don't even compare. Erasing a whole group of people with 100% certainty with one command (the euthanization plan) and killing 100% of the people in the world by stomping them with flaming Giants is possible.

I don't get why is everyone trying to project their own allegory in the story. Imagery from real world events doesn't equate an allegory, for that to work it has to be a one to one correlation and simply, there isn't one. Eldians are at the same time the Jews, the Germans the Anglos +(place your empire of choice here) and they reside in Madagascar for gods sake (The map of AoT is like ours but upside down).

well, my original intention when I said "situation similar to AoT" is more broad, something like "a situation of its either us or them" as the other person mentioned in his comment when I was replying to him. Maybe the last line of my comment bringing up "big human" led you to think I was going for 1:1 but that was added couple minutes later because I thought it's interesting but it's actually not crucial to the original point I was trying to make. The main factor of racism and religion as I original brought up earlier would be enough to culminate into a result of "a situation of its either us or them", as you can have religious scripture saying "kill all who refuse to convert", and racism to make the killers feel less sympathetic. And so you pit two religious fundie groups against each others and eventually it will potentially become an "either us or them".

real world equivalent would be if a barbarian tribe in central Europe stumbled upon tanks and nukes in 100 B.C.

So as I said I did not intend to go for 1:1 allegory but I will reply to a few point here just for entertainment... Well, maybe some people can stumble upon alien technology. Some people did joke about hallugenisia being alien-origin.

Specifically the Eldian hive mind with a single control point

Elon Musk did mention he wanted to develop microchip that can connect to the brain and cybernetics to improve human.

the Rumbling.

I think the huge amount of nukes is comparable but someday we can develop even more destructive weapons.

Well, most of those are science fiction territory, you can't predict the unknown unknowns lol.

Btw i didn't mean to quote your post specifically, i just found the discussion people were having at the mid of the thread absurd and yours was just the last one before mine. I understand people getting passionate for the series , i do too, but many are just projecting 2022 politics which is silly.

It's not about being necessary or unnecessary. Your opinion about things, even fictitious, reflects who you are.

no frl though because the politics of the shows is the most realistic partđź’€I won't try to politically analyze ppl, but saying "it's just fiction" is just excuse. not only are there ignorant, sheltered, and gullible people who are unable to critically consume things, there are actually fascists, actual idealists that will take events in this show to heart.

If you've ever had any sort of emotional reaction to watching the show, that already makes it real because your emotions are real.

fiction and reality isn't a binary in our brains, it's more like a gradient.

I'd rather side with someone with questionable morals but with compelling writing that makes me feel closer to that said character than someone with perfect morals, but with bad writing. During chapters 124 and 125 (aka episodes 6 and 7), I actually liked the idea of former enemies trying to stop Eren and was really leaning towards them. Chapter 126 (or episode 8) however, took out all the empathy I had for them just bevause of how bad it was overall
