I would have docked many points off my score if they somehow went down that route. It would had to have been very twisted and forced for this sort of plot twist/progression to have happened lol. Their coming of age story/development was incredible and only pathetic weebs would ship them.

That's why I'm starting to think that romance is overrated. Ppl just can't enjoy a story without inserting some romance into it, no matter how weird it is. There are certainly many types of love and relationship in the world than just romantic love, that are just as beautiful, if not, even more beautiful and more profound.
So, no. Would totally ruin the movie.

They meant as she came back to be ariels wife,,, was kind of sad to see the lil dita going to apologise in early part to see them already moved out,,, very happy she made a come back , yeeeeeyyy!

No, that's so wrong. Throughout my life I was fortunate to have my biological mother and two other mother-like figures who I only ever saw as a mom. I would never ever think of them in that way in the least and with someone who raised you since birth and was like your real mom, that's just not okay for them to fall in love romantically. Sounds like you just wanted to see some sort of incest action.

No. Just no. 1000 times no.

I was very relieved the movie didn't go in that kind of direction tbh considering I've heard about crap like Usagi Drop's second half.

(But well I assumed with how much praise this movie has gotten, that it wouldn't pull something like that. Usagi Drop's manga was rightfully criticized a bunch so I knew to avoid it.
Plus I watched this movie with a friend who hasn't watched that much anime and she probably would've been even more shocked by such a trope taking place...)

Maquia literally raised Ariel since he was a baby...
It would've been so disgusting if the movie had paired them up. Dita was way better for him. I thought she was annoying at first because she bullied him as a kid for caring about his mom, but she matured and apologized and even realized why Maquia was such a beloved adoptive mom to Ariel after seeing her compassion firsthand.

All in all I love what a wholesome mother-son relationship Ariel and Maquia had.
