I, on the other hand, find the relationships between feminine, cute girls to be boring XD I want them to be more strong-willed and able to stand up for themselves. This is why I don't like Marimite and Kannazuki as much as other yuri lovers.

sorry Saisin if I came across as argumentative,
I'm just here for the same reason I assume everyone else is
To enjoy teh Yuri ^_____^
And to have a few friendly debates, share opinions and of course: Find out what my fellow yuri buddies think of this and that

on another note,
Im not particularly picky with the gender roles etc in yuri. What really hooks me are the way the characters are developed and how three dimensional they are, lol plus I like angst in characters ^_~

@Fallow : the same goes for me :D, srry if my previous post came across as argumentative ;D

It's just that I like to discuss things I like with people who share the same interests with me, and to compare their opinions with mine. While I am often misunderstood as an argumentative type of character, the fact is that rather than arguing, my intention is to discuss the matters into depth, so that I can understand others' opinions better ;D

&& @lynx : Might be true, but this is a matter of personal preferences and tastes in yuri :D. The thing I like about yuri, as mentioned in my earlier posts, is the innocence, feminity and cuteness of the characters together with closeness of their relationships, strength of bonds and the way it is depicted and portrayed, which usually drastically differs with what we can see in the real world. So in the end if the relationship seems too real, rather than attracting my attention, the series tend to bore me, eventually resulting in my disliking that particular series. e.g: Such was the case with Free Soul manga or Indigo Blue. In these two works, the relationship between protagonists was depicted "in a way that seemed or gave the impression" closer to reality than other works I've read.

or to find the Uber compromise between both Lully, Lynx and Saisin!?!

characters who are both innocent? Feminine? and totally kickass?
Madlax!and Mireille hooooo~ from 'Madlax' and 'Noir'
Both characters are gentle on the outside but harbour painful pasts and are quite sexy and dangerous. (^o^)
IMO Beetrain does a very good job showing characters with mysterious pasts, great character development, and of course yuri subtext ;P

Trust me, at first the series take a little to get used to, but you can't help but laugh at the situations, and the relationship IS beautiful.

Strange Love is named in original "Hen", and the manga is, while not good, better than the anime counterpart. Finding it might be a little difficult, and I can't exactly say it's worth the time... =\

Favourite Yuri anime :: Kannazuki no Miko - because of the relationship between Chikane and Himeko. That's what I understand when someone says yuri. Platonic things are good and all, but it doesn't satisfy my needs for yuri. E.g Maria-sama ga Miteru was character-wise one of the best series I've watched so far, but still, I needed to read a ton of the "real yuri" doujinshi after I finished the anime to satisfy the hunger that watching all those subtle signs that no normal person would even take notice of evoked. On the other hand all those purely body-oriented doujinshi that are out there on the net do not satisfy my needs for romance in yuri. So to sum it up, Kannazuki no Miko is generally what I imagine if someone says yuri. This series is in my yuri ranking closely followed by Strawberry Panic, after which i placed Kashimashi (I know, I know... a fake yuri, but stil a yuri nevertheless ;) ).

And for the bottom of my yuri ranking, there was only one yuri show that I really disliked. Simoun. I disliked the animation, soundtrack, setting, characters and above all else the thing I hated the most was the teasing when I had to watch girls kissing each other, yet there was no emotion, no sexuality, no love, no yuri in it. Aaaaargh... This really annoyed me.

You are thinking like me ^^ Especially about Simoun :D

My most favorite yuri anime .. and the best yuri anime I've ever seen is Onii-sama (brother, Dear Brother) ..

http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=4504

the storyline is fabulous .. the characters are amazing .. and the writer of this awesome anime and manga is no one else but the amazing Riyoko Ikeda .. the same writer for the beautiful anime and manga (Lady Oscar) ..

I totally recommend this anime to all yuri lovers ^^

There hasn't been a lot of yuri this year. Are animators having a hard time to create stories involving lesbians? OK, i'll get to the point.....

When it comes to Yuri, my favorite would be Aoi Hana, because of the very sincere and honest relationship with the characters Fumi and Akira and on how they help each other out despite of the hardships that happens to them.

Oh god *rubs forehead* this is sooo hard! but if i had to pick...

1. Sasameki Koto (It's a really cute story, the art's nice, strangely enough i can relate to poor Sumi, but i really wish they'd have some sex scenes. :(...)
2. Candy Boy ( There is just something about this anime that really draws me in. Im not a supporeter of incest, but come on, its ANIME anything can (and will) happen in anime, especially yuri>)
3. Strawberry Panic (My first yuri to watch, i was captivated, (more like addicted) i had to have more.)
