#1) Juliet Fiammata Asto Capulet She should be added.... Hands down she should. Anime: Romeo x Juliet Manga: Romeo x Juliet Pros: She fights for the people of her country selflessly. She's not as weak as the original Juliet in the original story. She doesn't have the ability to feel hate for long and because she is in love with Romeo, she loves his father as well, even though he killed her people and family. While I'm not thrilled with her loving him since he was so evil. I admire her ability to NOT hate. She loves fully and unconditionally, purely and doesn't care if she ends up being hurt, she tries to stick to her vows and promises, but when the time comes, she has to try and go back on them for the good of her people. She gives herself fully to save others without fear. She's strong willed. Pure hearted and noble, by personality as well as her blood and family. She'd do anything for the people she loves no matter what it might coast her. As long as it wasn't evil. She influences Romeo to push himself to be a better person, she does so with all who are close to her, they strive to be by her side, she commands such loyalty. Cons: She dies of course. She is possibly a bit too idealistic at times, and innocent. She does try to run away in a fit of selfishness, but I can't really blame her, soon after however, she stands her ground and lets herself be captured by the enemy in order to save a town full of innocent people who were being harmed while soldiers were looking for her. She fears her fate at first when she learns of it's true nature, but not for long before she makes a resolve to do what she must for the sake of her people. Also, she does not want to really fight, not at first, but I suppose you can’t blame her there either. There’s probably more I should say about her, but I can’t think of it at the moment. #2) Cordelia Same Anime and Manga as Juliet. Pros: She's a supporting character, so I'm not sure she really fits. However, I'll suggest her anyway. She's only a year or 2 older than Juliet, and yet, when Juliet was 2, she tried to protect her, after they both witnessed the murder of Juliet's family at the hands of Romeo's father. Even after that nightmare that the toddlers saw, she stayed with Juliet and tended her as a lady maid. Supporting her and acting like a mother/sister to her as they grew up. She had to go help Juliet hide her gender as they grew up. She loves and cares for Juliet and her well being and happiness above other things, when she learns Juliet loves Romeo, she supports her (After her initial shock) and helps her when she can. She's not afraid to go after anyone who disobeys her, with a broom or whatever possible weapon she has on hand (As long as it's not to harm them, just a whack here or there to enforce her orders ^^). She takes care of the house they live in and only thinks about herself very little, She's reluctant to get married at first, worried about Juliet's happiness first and the wellbeing of the people. She helped Juliet gain her strength. Cons: She's not a main character, so I don't know if that counts or not. She's often frightened by things she doesn't understand well (Like when Juliet's imprisoned or when the earthquakes start), She seems almost too devoted to Juliet at times, And she hits poor Benvolio a lot when he comes to stay with them... Yes, he was dimwitted... but he was scared, and in a new environment... so she could have given him a bit more time before whacking him here and there -_-; #3) Deedlit Anime: Record of Lodoss War OVA Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight (She’s a better character in the OVA) Pros/About Deedlit: Is a High Elf, elf from the realm of the faeries. She has a great appreciation for nature, and her magic always exhibits elemental forces, such as wind and water. She also wields a thin eleven sword. She can be incredibly fast and can match the attacks of dark elves and berserkers (If I remember correctly). She’s also very kind, gentle and loyal. She is quite knowledgeable, and while she sometimes teases her friends, she does care about them and would protect them with her life. She’s not afraid of much, she’s strong willed, she and Parn (Her male opposite) seem to be on fairly equal ground at the end of both the OVA and series. In the OVA she does have to be saved in the end, from an evil wizard who wishes to use her eternal life as a sacrifice to complete the ritual to revive the goddess of darkness, Kardis. However, she still keeps her dignity, and nobility throughout the situation. She does like to play tricks on the dwarf friend of hers however. Cons: She’s VERY prideful and haughty at times, she seems to like fighting at times and at other times she doesn’t. Also, She’s loyal to a fault where Parn is concerned. But she doesn’t hang or cling to him, she does stand as his equal at the end, where she started out as superior to him, it shows how much she loves him to be able to adapt and how much he grew as a character. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the OVA which is my favorite in the Lodoss stories. So I can’t think of many more cons… I think if there were many, I’d remember them somewhat. If it’s not enough info, please let me know ^^ Will offer more girls as suggestions later ^^ |

Juliet: -While I too admire the ability not to hate, I think there is a difference between not hating yet disapproving and not hating and accepting/approving. Juliet seems to be the latter, and that isn't noble because while you're not hateful, you're also being weak because you see the wrongness someone is doing but you don't disapprove of it. -Idealism isn't necessarily a con. Nobility is an ideal after all. It just depends on the type of idealist you are. If the character is the sort of idealist who cannot accept reality (i.e. clings to an ideal that s/he has without doing anything to try to make the ideal reality, or does it in a way that harms people), then I would say it's a con; but if the character has some idealistic value or goal they want to implement (say, reducing poverty and actually tries to do something about it), then their idealism is a pro. -Death of the character isn't a con at all. It's actually a pro. It represents the highest level of courage, that is, the character was prepared to die for their beliefs/country/another person. Of course, death isn't always a pro. If the death was random (ex: someone runs away from a murderer but gets killed anyway), then their death is neither a pro or a con. But with Juilet's case it looks like she dies for her country, which makes it a pro. Conclusion: with all that said, her pros still outweigh her cons, so I will add her and the anime and manga to the relations Cordelia: -I agree with her assessment that while selflessness is usually a pro, if taken to the extreme of devotion, it is actually a con. Nobility is about being selfless in order to become a better person. Yet, at the same time, being the best you can be also involves improving all your capacities as a human being. So if one is only devoted to one person, they cannot think of themselves and how to better themselves rather then the other person. Furthermore, devotion to a single person, makes it less likely for you to help others. Again this applies when taken in the extreme. Conclusion: Again her pros outweigh her cons. She shall be added. :) Deedlit: -Nothing really to add to your assessment. Conclusion: Shall be added. I'll also add the OVA, but should I added the other series? |

I think Deedlit is pretty much the same, in the other series, She's just, more of a supporting character in that for most of it, where she's the main of the OVA. They merge the series with the OVA, the series starts about halfway threw the OVA and erases most of what Deedlet did in the OVA and brings in another girl and makes her the one in danger instead of Deedlit. In the series, Deedlit and Parn aren't seen much by themselves or given much growing room, their more like the guardians of the 2 main characters there. She's still Strong there, it's just not given much attention and they erase a lot of what I liked about the OVA by starting the series and doing over the part where the heroin is in Danger... with a different girl. I don‘t find that girl‘s character quite as strong or admirable, but she may still be seen as a noble heroin worth consideration by another member at a later date. So I'm unsure if you would want to add the series or not. |

Ooh, I thought of another one! Eva Wei/Molly from Oban Star Racers. She's an ambitious and headstrong 15 year old who ends up piloting the Arrow 2 in the great race of Oban. She's not afraid to say what she's really thinking and do some rather courageous acts when she needs to. |

I might go over several things, several times, with this-if I do, sorry. I just want to be sure I get everything right. Name: Sakura Haruno Anime: Naruto, Naruto Shippuden Manga: Naruto When the series starts: During her early years in the Ninja Academy, Sakura was frequently bullied by others due to her large forehead. To try and combat this, Sakura used her bangs to hide her forehead, fuelling the other kids' teasing by indicating she was sensitive about it. Ino Yamanaka, realizing this, helped Sakura by giving her a ribbon that she used as a way of drawing attention to the cuter features of her forehead, which helped Sakura overcome her phobia. The two became good friends and Sakura grew more confident, developing her own unique personality under Ino's guidance. Later, when the two girls eventually realized that they were both infatuated with Sasuke, Sakura ended their friendship so that the two could properly compete for Sasuke's affection. That anger towards Ino and that phobia from childhood still carried threw to when the series started when Sakura was 12. And they added to her weaknesses which I will explain below. The only thing she's good at is her brain as the smartest girl in ninja academy her excellent chakra control, out of that she could be categorized as a kunoichi with no exceptional talent. And an attitude as well. Very unforgiving of Naruto at first and someone who exploited his mistakes as often as possible. Sakura is the only female ninja of Team 7. When she first meets Naruto she is physically weak and has an immense crush on Sasuke. She dislikes Naruto when their younger… but over time, she slowly starts to realize that he has feelings as well. But it does take time. In the first part of the Chuunin exam she is easily able to answer the questions, but in the second part she is unable to defeat the Sound ninja attacking Sasuke and Naruto. She makes a pledge to become a better ninja and a better person at that time. To prove her commitment she cuts her long hair with a kunai knife. Not long after, during the final part of the chuunin exams the 3rd hokage dies, adding to her feelings of being weak and useless. Not long after the 3rd Hokage dies, they get a 5th Hokage and in doing so, Sakura finds a female ninja she can look up to. After the Chuunin exams she realized that she had a lot of faults, and when she met Tsunade, the 5th hokage, she saw a way to overcome her faults and weakness’s. A while after the exams, Sauske is finally driven to run away from the village and join the enemy, in his quest to get stronger. Still having feelings for Sasuke, she begs Naruto to go after him and bring him home. Naruto, in turn, loves Sakura, and so he and friends leave the village to find Sauske. When he returns however, and she realizes how desperate he still is to keep his promise to her, she tells him she is just glad he came back alive, but is startled and worried when he insists he’ll bring their friend back to her, no matter what, even if it coasts his life. She soon started training with Lady Tsunade to become a medical ninja so that she would no longer hold her team and friends back and would be able to fight on equal terms, to help her friends. After the time skip she is now a chuunin having been trained by Tsunade for the past two years. She is now a medic Ninja of considerable skill, enough skill to possibly defeat Tsunade one day. It is shown when she is able to do a complicated surgery to extract poisons out of Kankuro’s body and make an antidote of the new type poison that Sasori used, which the other medic ninja having been unable to do so. During the time skip she's also matured in personality, she become calmer, more composed, self assured. No longer frightens so easily. She still does have her temper especially when Naruto is fooling around in front of her, however, she is no longer deliberately mean to him, She considers his feelings, takes them into more account now. She worries about him and doesn’t want him risking his life to keep the promise he made to her about Sasuke so much any more, she thinks that now she is useful and able to help, stronger, she can HELP him keep his promise, while she keeps him alive. She worries about Naruto and over the years they have saved each other’s lives many times. She has grown to understand things much better than she had as a young teenager(Even though it’s only been 2 years since then) and she sees the bigger picture that things form. She is no longer rash and has grown a lot over the rears. Sakura has grown not only as a medical-nin, now she's also a capable fighter: She now has inhuman strength, a chakra control technique she learned from Tsunade. She also has advanced knowledge of medicines, medical/healing techniques, and supports her whole team as another fighter and a medic nin waiting for any injuries so she can help care for them. She still feels helpless when Naruto is injured-due to the fox demon within him but, she’s dealing with that. She is still learning, and she doesn’t think she knows everything. Still, she won’t hesitate to kick the butts of her friends if she feels they need it or if they are annoying her to the point of wanting to hurt them to get them to leave her be. Pros: She’s not afraid to say what she thinks. She’s grown a lot from when she was starting out in the series. She’s no longer frightened so easily. She’s a bit more independent. She’s more confident about herself as well as her teammates abilities. When Sasuke ran away from the village, she had been planning on betraying the village with him, and following him no matter what, but soon after, she realizes, she wouldn’t have been able to betray her friends. She’s loyal to her friends, and she will defend them even if her life is on the line to do so. She loves Naruto, and is especially defensive of him, now in the series, more than Sasuke, even. She’s an excellent healer, being able to do things with medical ninjutsu, that other, older, more seasoned medical nin’s cannot. She’s an excellent fighter. She sees her own flaws easily and tried to improve herself on her own, as well as admitting, and seeking it out, when she need help. She’s quite independent, but will also ask for help when she needs it. Cons: She has a major attitude at times, she will attack friends and enemies when she is one of her worse moods, however, she doesn’t attack her friends to hurt them, at those times-just to get her point across with otherwise dense men. When she was younger, she wasn’t in control of it at all. But now, in the series, she’s much more in control and can use it to her advantage at times. It was once a con, but I don’t really think it is now. However, sine it was a problem of hers for the first half of the anime and part of the manga, I figured it was worth mentioning. She still has an obsession with Sasuke, though, like her attitude, she’s overcome that a great deal, she is no longer quite so obsessive, she doesn’t want him back at any coast, she wants him back because he’s her friend and because Naruto wasn’t so unhappy when he had his friend and brother figure near him. She wants Sasuke back for Naruto’s sake as well as her own, and also for her village, because as long as he’s lose, he’s a danger to her friends and family in the village. Still, she sometimes lets her emotions get the better of her. And will in those cases, act before she thinks, even though she’s very smart. Movies/Specials: (She was a main character in these movies, but not one of THE mains. So I‘m not sure if you wanna add them to relations or not, if you add Sakura.): Naruto - Battle at the Hidden Falls, Naruto: Gekijouban Naruto: Dai Koufun! Mikazuki Jima no Animaru Panikku Dattebayo!, Naruto Shippuuden: Gekijouban Naruto Shippuuden, Naruto - Finally a Clash!! Jounin VS Genin!, Naruto: Dai Katsugeki!! @windy: oh sakura, I have a hate-love relationship with this character. She does grow up, but I hear she's mostly a healer? (not that it really matters to this club). I'll add her to the club. But I will not add the first season of the anime because I think she hasn't matured enough before the time skip. I will add shippuuden and the manga. As for the movies, to narrow it down a bit, are there any movies where Sakura really shines? (that is, are there any movies where she's the star and naruto supports her fights? or she at least gets to fight an important opponent?) |

Hmm, I don't remember, when I have time to re-watch them could I get back to you on that? It might be quite a while though. As for adding the second season and not the first, I agree with that. As for her being mainly only a healer. No, she's not JUST a healer, she's a fantastic fighter, she can break stone with a punch of her fist and she fought an Akatsuki member and killed him mostly by herself (With some help from that Akatsuki member's grandmother). ^^ She's SUPER strong and she's still really smart. Not long after the fast forward, she and Naruto's team had to go save Gaara and she really came threw for them. She worked with the grandmother of a member of the Akatsuki and since the old lady was so old (But still a good fighter)-older than Tsunade. I think Sakura really shined during that fight. It was amazing ^^ I was really shocked and impressed with how much she changed and how strong she got. But She is a healer, and as such they do try and keep her as back up, so she doesn't get on the front lines to much (I'm not too far into the manga past where the anime is, so I don't know how she is when the village is suppose to be attacked). |

@Windy: no problem, since the main source material is added, you can take your time XD Well I haven't read far enough, I'm still at the pre-time skip part, but I heard that while she does get to fight she's mostly a healer :( I guess most shounen heroines go through this, they always play second fiddle to the main guys. Thankfully when they do get to fight, they really shine. |

There's some music videos on you tube with her fight with Sasori from the anime as their focal point, they don't show talking or anything of course, but they do show how she goes at him ^^ if you have time you might wanna take a look at them. Though since all of the talking and explanations are missing from them, it might lose some of it's force. I agree, the girls in shounen manga and anime's are really not given much of a chance to shine the way they could. These mangaka make amazing characters then, they let them sit because they have so many other characters and they seem to forget how good they could make the story. How much better. And, I'm sorry about all of the spoilers on Sakura... I hope I didn't spoil too much for you with the manga -_- I just wanted to make sure I stated how much she changed in the series. |

I also agree with you guys. But again i feel that Sakura shined only once against the fight with Sasori. Actually i didn't really like her, but that fight made me think that maybe she is not as bad as I thought. But after that she again goes back into the shadows. But even though she goes back to the shadows i agree with you windy that she really changed alot compared to the beginnng of the series. And shounen heroines really should get some more time to shine!!! |

I want to suggest Yamaguchi Kumiko from Gokusen...I thought she was already here XD. Anyhow, she is strong, I mean she manages to be stronger than a bunch of yakuzas that are her family, not only in a physical sense. Besides she has a strong sense of justice and she believes that everyone can have something good or cute inside even if they look like hoodlums or tugs, not judging people by appearances might be her motto! Sigh, I want to read other manga like this! made me laugh so much :D |

Hmm, I don't think Yankumi would change that much there because she is the focus of the story, so proably yeah. |

I’d like to recommend Nagisa Furukawa - from Clannad the series and Clannad~After Story~. Not really the Nagisa from the movie though. Nagisa is ill, she’s been ill all of her life. Yet, she doesn’t let it get her down. She keeps pushing herself to try and achieve her goals. She’s strong willed in the fact that she will stick to her choices once she made them and also, she isn’t afraid of dieing. When she’s in danger of dieing if she has her baby she does give up her desire to have the baby at home and agrees to go to the hospital. But it doesn’t work out like that. She’s the kind of person who feels guilty though, about being ill all of the time, because of her being ill, her father had to stop acting and her mother had to stop teaching so that they could be with her all of the time. She doesn’t get sad or discouraged easily. She is unable to graduate high school the first time-because she misses so much due to her illness, so she doesn’t give up, she is determined to try again, so she enters her final year of high school again. But she is also out a lot that year, so she does not graduate again… she keeps trying even though she’s so sick. I really don’t know if she’s qualified enough. But she cares deeply about her friends and family. ~*~ Also, Matsuri Shihou from Sola. Matsuri changes a few people into the being she is, without realizing how it would effect their lives. She just wanted to help them, and after she changed them, and she realized her mistake, she started feeling guilty. Yet she didn't know what to do to help them. When they tried to kill her, hoping it would save them from being vampire like beings who will catch fire if exposed to the sun, she couldn't allow them to do so, even though the guilt ate away at her for centuries. She cares deeply for the people she befriends and she cares for the ones she turned as well. Though she can't bring herself to allow them to kill her. She has a strong will to protect those around her and will fight for what she believes in. She doesn't turn people out of a desire to cause pain nor does she feed off of them as a vampire does. She's lonely but keeps smiling and tries to remain optimistic. She helps anyone, even those trying to kill her. |

But she cares deeply about her friends and family. Nagisa sounds like a sweet girl, but she reminds me of Tohru. Both of these characters while sweet seem to lack confidence in what they do. Often being overly meek to the point where it's no longer a good quality. I've heard she cries too much from a review, so I'm not quite certain if she's noble/strong willed enough. Since I haven't watched the anime, I'll put her under the pending list for the time being. windeen-windy said: Also, Matsuri Shihou from Sola. She sounds like she could fit into the club but without seeing her in action, I can't really assess her all that well. I guess I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and add her. edit: actually I realize what I want to ask about her: What's her goal? How does she accomplish it? How does she feel about accomplishing it? What do you mean by her 'protecting' people? |

It’s been almost a year since I saw Sola, so I can’t remember everything good enough to right down all of her pros and cons I knew. I just remember the story line and some other things-as well as what it made me feel… so here’s the best explanation I have for what I meant about protect: Matsuri’s seen as a being called a Calamity of the Night- or a yaka. Like a vampire, she has supernatural abilities, super strength and (If I remember right) Her ability is the power to make an object rapidly decay and transform those who have died into Yaka, like herself. . She also cannot go out in the sun, if she does, she’ll catch on fire and incinerate. She loves pictures of the sky. She has an umbrella that looks like the sky. However, she doesn’t “Eat” the same things vampires do-she‘s obsessed with tomato juice. Yet, in ancient times in Japan, she was seen as a demon, a being that brings curses. So the villagers sent a girl up to her cave. Hoping she’d be a sacrifice and appease the demon. The girls brother went with her. They met Matsuri. She was the only one of her kind and didn’t know why she existed. The boy and girl befriended her. And not long after there was a flood. They were trying to protect the village, when the boy was killed. The sister also was killed trying to save him. Matsuri found the girl and turned her (It’s not shown how she turns them in the anime) into what she, herself is to bring her back to life. When the girl comes to, Matsuri is beside her. She asked what happened, and where her brother is, Matsuri explained that she searched all night for him. But she could never find his body. And that meant she couldn’t turn him. So it was just the 2 girls. The sister is distraught. She tries to leave the cave. But the sun’s up and she starts to burn. She ends up staying in the cave with Matsuri and trying to kill her. They both survive until night time. Then go their separate ways. But the older sister keeps following Matsuri, trying to kill her, hoping that killing her would end her own existence then she could be with her brother again. Time passes. The sister, Aono, learns to use her powers and deal with the problem with the sun. Only able to live in the day outside when it’s raining. Matsuri finds a boy that looks like the boy who died back then, and he also has the same name. He loves taking photos of the sky. She befriends him and soon she realizes he’s a copy of the boy, made by Aono’s supernatural abilities. He’s basically a doll made from paper. When Aono finds out that he’s become involved with Matsuri, she tries to separate them. But he refuses to leave Matsuri, he thinks he is a human. Matsuri tries to comply with Aono’s wishes, feeling guilty. But he won’t. Soon some of the friends he has at school are drawn into the situation as well as another calamity of the night created by Matsuri. Matsuri is trying to keep the innocent high school student and her sister safe and from finding out the secrets, while trying to not hurt Aono, her brother or the other girl she turned any more than she has. What I mean by protect, is she tries to protect the innocent people who get pulled into the situation. But she also tries to protect herself. Ultimately, Matsuri, and the boy both end up dieing- he dies protecting her, and Matsuri gives up, and sits on a rock and watches the sun come up. Letting herself turn to ash, to try and alleviate some of Aono’s suffering. And in doing so, she lifts Aono’s curse and she can be in the sun. I’m not sure she’s strong enough. But I was thinking about her and thought I’d mention her to see. She does fight, and is an amazing fighter, but she doesn’t really want to fight anyone. So it’s ok, if she’s not let in or if she is ^^ I’ll understand if either she or Nagisa don’t get in-I just admire their strong wills and the ability to push threw their problems/obstacles with optimism and they don’t let it get them down. I understand optimism isn’t always a good thing. And neither if ignoring their problems. But they don’t let it depress them, and they don’t let it depress the people they care about either. Here’s a link for more info for Matsuri if you need it. Sola -if you don’t then that’s fine as well. I do agree, they are both overly sweet, and Nagisa does cry a lot at the start of Clannad, but it’s mostly because she gets frustrated at times, But her relationships with the new friends she makes and her boyfriend help to make her stronger, I can’t remember her crying much later in the first series(Just a few times) And then even less often in Clannad ~After Story~ (If I’m remembering correctly. But I understand you being unsure about them both, I was as well to be honest ^^;; |

I want to suggest the main character from Stone Cold. This lawyer has guts! she is really careless but I really liked that she could manage dangerous situations without a need for a savior (who always got to the place late) |

i'd like to recomment houjou kuniko from the anime shangri-la :D i still only watched it half way until now and in the beginning she's wavering a bit but she fastly developes and even at the beginning she fights for the people of her city and has a strong sense of justice i think. She cares a lot about her friends and here on mal she is also called "a bit rambunctious" which is really true. but i think it would be good if another person who maybe watched the whole anime already would say something about this because i can only say things about the part i watched until now (12 of 24 episodes). if there's no one here who watched it already i will try to finish it as soon as possible and say something about her again maybe. |

got another one xD totally forgot about them the last time xP so i'd like to recommend all 3 main charcters from magic knight rayearth (anime as well as manga). reasons : .all fight for the people of a country/world to be saved fuu hououji : .strong sense of justice .doubts herself sometimes but in the end always becomes stronger through that umi ryuuzaki : .at first seems uncaring and quciktempered but fights and would do anything for her friends (at least i think so xD) hikaru shidou (she absolutely must be added!! XD) : .strong sense of justice and fights for the things she believes in and her loved ones .fierce & strong .very determined . much more xD (if you need more points than that) |

I agree with Hikaru. She's another classic example of a noble heroine :) (I can't believe I forgot about her) Fuu also seems very willing to put forth the needs of Cephiro before her own. I like Umi the best of the bunch, but she seemed to have the most attitude and is the most selfish, but since you say she gets better, I'll go ahead and add her. I've also seen her grow up a bit in the second volume of MKR, so I can see her becoming a better character in the second arc. I'll be adding all three and the manga and anime :) |

hehe thats good :D *happy* well i forgot about them at first too but then i saw the manga laying on my table and i was like "uaah why did i forgot" XD well yeah i wasnt that sure about fuu and especially about umi as well but i think they might be worth adding...if others dont agree then you can still delete the both of them again so i guess its ok for now XP |

I'll add the manga into our relations. I don't know much about it, but the description appears to be something that would fit with this club. I was planning on suggesting her as well ^_- But I hadn't gotten to it yet, so I'll second your suggestion. I'll also add, that she risks her own life several times to protect other people (Other than Ellis) and she's strong enough in her convictions to not be frightened off when she learned how dangerous Ellis is and why their being chased. Also, she's able to keep a sense of humor and calm thought processes when in tough situations (Most of the time). |

She shall be added along with the anime now. :) Old_Dream said: -- Jo + Sei from Bakuretsu Tenshi both are protecting their city It's been awhile since I watched this anime and I mostly watched it for the action, but if I recall correctly Jo was only interested in protecting Meg and didn't really care about anything or anyone else. If I'm wrong about this point, please provide an example because right now all I remember is that part of Jo. Sei shall be added, but since she doesn't have a big enough role, I won't be adding the anime or manga. Old_Dream said: Rene, Vanessa from Madlax she have a just cause, trying to uncover the truth even with all the dangers around her Hm, I think she is on the borderline between being good enough, but I'll add her because she does try very hard to save Margaret and I don't recall and flaws. But like Sei, she doesn't play a big enough role (in my opinion) so the anime won't be added. I know Sango’s on the character relations list, but I didn’t see Kagome on there… Name: Kagome Higurasgi Anime: InuYasha & InuYasha: Kanketsu-hen (InuYasha: The final act) < --- Second series. Movies: Movie #1: InuYasha: Toki wo Koeru Omoi (Inu Yasha: Affections Touching Across Time) Movie #2: InuYasha: Kagami no Naka no Mugenjo (Inu Yasha: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass) Movie #3: InuYasha: Tenka Hadou no Ken (Inu Yasha: Swords of an Honorable Ruler) Movie #4: InuYasha: Guren no Houraijima (Inu Yasha - Fire on the Mystic Island) About why I think Kagome should be added: Kagome Higurashi from InuYasha should be added. She grows so much in the course of the story (I don't know about the manga, but in the anime anyway-if I'm able to read the manga, I'll let you know if she's the same there or not ^_- She's very strong willed at times, but she does have moments where she falters (Very few characters are perfect). She does at times get discouraged, but also, with the help of people around her, she's able to put her problems aside at times. She's very brave and loyal. She's a bit too forgiving to InuYasha at times, and to accepting of his confused feelings. But I think she holds all of the other characters together and she finally chose to live in Ancient Japan, with him, Giving up her family-which I look at as both a brave step, but also a sad one, it was him or her family. She chose him, yes, but she fit in more with his world, and she wasn't happy in her own world.... theirs a certain kind of courage it takes sometimes to do what makes you the most happy (In my opinion anyway). She loved her family very much and was forcing herself to stay with them, but she was unhappy, and they knew that. Kagome is a priestess. The reincarnation of Kikyo who was also a priestess. She fell in love with the half human half demon Inuyasha, who had also been in love with Kilyou. However, she and Kikyou are very different. Kikyou was tricked by a demon, she was killed, and left to believe that InuYasha had killed her. Another demon managed to bring her partially back to life (Even though Kagome was alive and there) and succeeded to a point. She brought the hatred that Kikyou had for InuYasha who she still believed her. She let her hatred control her for a long time, devouring other people's souls, in order to keep her clay body moving. She had been an elegant, noble priestess who was very good at fighting demons. But now, all that was left was her hate. Kagome fought Kikyou many times, while Kikyou was in her clay body. Kikyou being powered by part of her original soul and stolen souls of the dead. And Kagome maintaining most of her soul, but no longer holding the hatred of InuYasha, just the love and kindness. There were times when Kagome was left to feel inferior to Kikyou, as if she were only a copy of Kikyou and Kikyou played on that quite often. But after a while, Kagome realized how sad Kikyou really was and instead of hating her, she pitied the other priestess. She accepted that InuYasha loved them both and was able to help defeat the demon who had really killed Kikyou-she defeated him with her friends, they all did it together. But they needed her to do it. She held them together and gave them all courage to push on. And she tries, even though she’s told not to. Or that she can’t do something, she still tries to do it. To help her friends. She's pretty much seen as much as Inuyasha in the movies, fairly equal with him for screen time and what she does, but if you need me to tell you exactly what she does in each, I can't. It’s been a few years since I've seen them. I can remember that in the castle beyond the looking glass though it was dependant upon her to help Inuyasha come around to his senses at one point. But she was quite active in all 4 movies. I just can't remember her exact actions or thoughts, I'm sorry. |

Yeah, I agree with you there, but like last time (when we were discussing adding Kagome), it's not about whether she is brave, loyal, etc. but the degree to which and how it is presented. :) windeen-windy said: But I think she holds all of the other characters together and she finally chose to live in Ancient Japan, with him, Giving up her family-which I look at as both a brave step, but also a sad one, it was him or her family. I don't really consider choosing your happiness to be noble, sorry. If this was a condition for nobility, most characters would qualify except obviously villains. The aim of this club is to show case heroines with exceptional strength and will-power that they use for the benefit of others. windeen-windy said: She loved her family very much and was forcing herself to stay with them, but she was unhappy, and they knew that. To help her friends. Again, Kagome sounds like a really nice person, but she seems to lack the presence of a noble heroine. From the way you are describing the final scenes, it seems more like she is there for morale support, and while that is important (not really, more like the authors make it important, but that's just my opinion), it makes her into a passive heroine that stands on the sidelines and cheers and needs someone else to do the real work. windeen-windy said: She's pretty much seen as much as Inuyasha in the movies, fairly equal with him for screen time and what she does, but if you need me to tell you exactly what she does in each, I can't. So if she doesn't qualify for the actual source material. Movies are not going to get her onto the list. This club is still going through sorting problems, so if you think I may have added, in my haste, someone who is like Kagome, please tell me using the Boot Thread (that's why I made it). Ultimately, this club wants to list the heroines and their corresponding anime or manga, that are exceptional, and strong on many different levels (emotional, physical, intellectual). So basically, I'm still unsure exactly how strict the conditions are for entry. But I appreciate your help Windy. :) And asking for different characters is good because it makes me consider exactly what kind of club I want. |

Ok, I'll keep suggesting any characters I think might have the qualities... I don't exactly agree with your assessment of her (Mainly because I've always understood that being brave(Which I am not ^^;) and will power to stand your ground in your choices (Even if they may be painful for the character) were part of the things that created nobility). But I understand your reasoning and why you don't want to add her and I will respect that ^^ There's still a number of non anime girls/women I'm waiting to suggest for the other thread, but I want to wait till your all caught up there, so that I don't overload you with too much work or info at once and you have enough to go threw as it is. Aw, Windy. Now I feel like a tyrant. ^^;;; Give me a bit more time, I'll take a look at her once more. This will probably take awhile since I want to be more accurate this time, but I may change my mind. Also, sorry about the hold up. I thought I would have more time....but life is just as busy...not to mention I'm pretty obsessed with One Piece right now. (Would have been an even better manga if it had a noble heroine, although Robin is shaping up to be one, but in my eyes, she still has a ways to go...that or I'm just hard to please because Yoko, Claire and Oscar have shown me how truly awesome heroines can be if the author just wants to give us a stronger lead or supporting character. But now I'm ranting... xD) |

I propose Maka Albarn from Soul Eater; http://myanimelist.net/character/8439/Maka_Albarn She fights with murderers and witches, cares a lot about her fight-patrner Soul and about her friends, protects her city and acts as a proud member of her school. -- I think Subaru from the Hack/Sign series is also a very noble heroine:> http://myanimelist.net/character/41/Subaru She acts as a perfect knight, is also the leader of the Crimson Knights who fight injustice in the Game World. -- Also Otonashi Saya from the Blood+ anime series http://myanimelist.net/character/836/Saya_Otonashi She fights monsters and protects her family and other people. She is also very kind, and generally acts noble; to not to spoil to much, lets say she sees herself as a danger to other people. |

First off, I'll like to apologize for taking so long. D: -Maka Albarn: Sounds like she should be listed. I haven't seen the show myself. :) -Subaru: Another character I should not have forgotten about. She's a great example and I agree with everyone that she deserves to be on our list~ Top noble qualities: she stands up against bullying on the web, she leaves the knights to do what she believes is right, and she's got a lot of inner strength to continue and make friends after what she has been through due to her legs. Really inspirational character. What boggles my mind is the hate she gets. :| Which reminds me, I think Mimiru should also be added. While she isn't as exceptional as Subaru, she does enough to warrant her listing from helping Tsukasa out in the World, to taking an active interest in his case when she and Bear realize that what's happening to Tsukasa is not normal to being friends with Tsukasa and the others in real life. :) -Otonashi Saya: again, I haven't seen this series, but she sounds like another great noble heroines, so I shall add her. :) |
