Out of all three Jun Maeda's original work he did with PA Works (The Day I Became A God, Charlotte, Angel Beats), yes, The Day I Became A God, is the most forgettable one (With Angel Beats being the most memorable one, Charlotte is in-between).

However, TDIBAG is the one with the most enjoyable MC to follow around out of all the three animes. AND TDIBAG has the best comedy out of all the three animes, as well.

I really enjoyed watching the male MC in his journey in this anime. I loved also how he got all siscon with his sister (those scenes were funny with his reaction).

And perhaps the greatest thing about this anime is that they are not stuck in a school all the time. They are mostly around the neighborhood (which is my favorite setting, showing us the neighborhood).

I just wish that TDIBAG would have stayed a slice of life with light comedy with some non-heavy-drama thrown in there every now and there.   I just really liked the relaxed-atmosphere of this anime, or when the anime got silly.   I say this because when the anime started to get serious starting on episode 8, this anime just started to get boring.

At least when both Angel Beats and Charlotte got serious, it was interesting and entertaining.  WHen TDIBAG got serious, it was just boring and a drag to get through each episode.

With that said, TDIBAG was still an enjoyable anime for the first 7 episodes, and its a shame that Jun Maeda got the criticism he got when this anime ended back in December 2020.  (Given, from my memory if I can recall, he did himself hype this anime up before it got released as the saddest anime he has worked on, so yikes)

I already know I’m probably an outlier here but no matter. I went in to watching this thinking that Maeda can virtually do no wrong, I still hold to that. Honestly, if forced to choose between this series and Charlotte, I would choose this one. The main reason being that Kamisama doesn’t mix up the formula used in past series as much as Charlotte did with regards to the extent at which the supernatural plays a role in the series.

As for that bold claim, and I said something similar elsewhere recently, I don’t know how one could go about determining what the saddest anime is or would be. Regardless this series and it’s staff etc. put in a good effort considering. It may not be a 10/10 however it isn’t just average either. Hopefully Maeda can cool off and continue working on new material, I want to see it!

Oh, and again what ‘actually’ happened to that computer..

This has been one of the most pathetic endings I've ever seen for an anime. I was going to rate this 2/10, but the ending pulled off one of the dumbest Duex Ex Machina moments I've ever seen. 1/10.

Jun Maeda, I don't know what's gotten into you.

So the mother, who apparently spent a long time with her daughter, giving her care, company and love, was suspicious and very bothered by Youta's presence after seeing how she said 2 words to him, she handed her to him as if her were a bag of potatoes and disappeared. I mean, he gives her to a complete stranger who is also a high school boy. HE GIVES HER TO HIM TO TAKE CARE OF HER AND GO TO LIVE WITH HIM WTH...
I feel like this anime was worth more but it fell halfway, it leaves me with a lot of questions, I didn't read the manga, maybe it answers some.
and most of the characters, if they weren't there, the plot would remain the same because they are pure filler, it's more, a history just with youta and hina would have saved money.

AN ENTIRE EPISODE DEDICATED TO HIROTO AND HIS CHILDHOOD ???????
SO THEY WERE IN LOVE???.........

In short, a very very forced drama as if it were shouting in your face ''CRY I KNOW YOU WANT TO DO IT'' no I don't want to and you're scaring me.

There are so many inconsistencies in this anime that if they eliminated the last episodes and left it as a SOL it would have saved it.

"Men ought not to play God before they learn to be men, and after they have learned to be men, they will not play God."

-Paul Ramsey

The power of God is not meant for humans; it carries consequences beyond human comprehension, so it should be eradicated. However, losing such power does not diminish one's value or character. It's a bittersweet ending for Hina as she is left navigating life in a state deeply impacted by Logos Syndrome (a fictional neurodegenerative disorder). Yet, the memory of the fun times she spent during that fateful summer and who she is as a person will live on deep within her. Even though she's no longer God, she's still Hina, with high hopes for the future that one day, she will be cured from her illness, and our little "Odin" will shine brighter than the peak of Asgard.

This anime reminds me of an old anime called Air
I swear that anime and this one pretty much followed the same story beats except this one feels like they tried to add in more comedy (that personally doesn't land) and they just do a worse job at cinematography... Basically there is so little impact to what are suppose to be dramatic scenes and they do such a poor job with this MC.

Just a bad imitation.

In December of [2020], Maeda posted a message on Twitter saying that he had considered hanging himself following poor reception and online harassment surrounding his The Day I Became a God series, and stated the following day that he would retire from writing stories for anime projects.

we won!

jokes aside, online harassment definitely sucks but look at the stuff you write, man.

man specifically sets out to create emotionally upsetting art, is surprised when patrons are upset

Definitely the best episode, which the final episode of any series should be. Hina noticing that "Youha" (as she pronounces it) was missing from the cards was enough for her to recollect her memory of him at the last second, and that particular scene had its endearment value augmented by the emotive piano track and visual direction.

Found this to be a half-decent show with passionate writing and a good-natured intention. Although I can't help but feel it was let down a bit by the abruptness of Youta and Hina's romance following a long sequence of introductory episodes that didn't really go anywhere. Was largely indifferent to Hina as a character, and yet couldn't help but find her circumstances and neurological regression to a more childlike state compelling in the end, because the narrative bothered to imply that much of her outlandishness comes from an untethered, newfound fascination with the things she was seemingly unable to do before receiving the chip.
