As I've said countless times elsewhere, this is a calculated move for NHK. They are undergoing a long-term "redevelopment" of their regular programming. They're relatively new in the anime scene (and they started with what, one anime per season, for 2 seasons a year - and their earlier forays to anime are decidedly conservative; and relatively recently they chose to air an anime adaptation of a manga that's been running for quite a while, and it's about making manga), but they're bent on staying there. And I mean, there's barely any new content when they made the announcement. But they're banking on the enthusiasm of the author itself, and of the fans, to help provide more content for the second season, that will hopefully (for them, NHK) provide more viewers. Especially in the lower age-gaps. In essence, they want to shed the image that they're either too serious (news, documentaries, etc.) or "too young" (they have edutainment children's shows for quite a while). How long-term? Well they've started it before the 20th Century ended, and they're taking baby steps ever since. Log Horizon 2nd season was their most ambitious step yet. |

| really hope akatsuki hooks up with Shiroe. although i wouldn't be surprised since Log Horizon's outro was all about akatsuki, and it ends with both of them under a rainbow! Plus shes my favourite Character! |
