| And thus my rewatch comes to an end. In spite of my various gripes with the writing that I've mentioned in previous threads, I was actually enjoying the "Kadingir" saga a lot more this time around... and then episode 13 came along and I remembered why I hated the ending of this season so much on my initial viewing. Yeah, sorry, I still think that the ending is incredibly forced and rushed. What a hot mess. Like, sure, I like Hibiki and I'm glad that she made it to the end, but when the series starts in medias res with Miku visiting her grave, you should probably make sure that the reveal that she survived isn't the most underwhelming thing imaginable. "Sorry, Miku, guess I done lied again, huh? Whoopsie-daisy! Well, there's only 15 seconds left in this timeslot, so gimme a hug already." Like, really? You couldn't even cut out some of the unnecessary fluff in this episode in order to linger on the final reveal for longer? Also, Finé still sucks and the Curse of Balal is an asspull, LOL. Look, I do truly like Symphogear, the latter seasons are (mostly) a vast improvement, but season 1's ending is such garbage, sorry. :P |
