I think the most touching scene was the slight focus on the Sister and her past life, sickly young girl struggling to do basic things is always a sad watch, her trying to overcome this mentality in her present life was quite good.

Overall though, it was too whimsical and childish for me personally, the atmosphere felt a little forced even with the more nuanced undertones, the tonal shift at the end just felt a little more dramatic than it should have been. The five minute bleeding out scene and speech to go along with it, yeah, didn't really do it for me.

I was just expecting a little more naturalism, not as much melodramatic story telling.

Though I admit, it did subvert my expectations at the end, with the complete 180 and how the plot is going to follow.

Agree with Gakuto above, the only thing that made me feel some type of way was seeing Ruby dance after all of her suffering in her past life. That was definitely worth a tear. Not being able to hear Takagi(Ai) anymore sucks but we just met her anyways, and she was kind of a brat lets be real. The ending video of her was touching though so I guess there's that. It's just hard to compare to something like Violet Evergarden episode 10 and that mother/child scene.

Not even cried for the story. But teared up for the directing, sakura and the credit song. Must check out the MV as well it is a part of Doga kobo's work and concludes the first ep.

This was a cinematic emotional rollercoaster. More to come.
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

I didn't cry per say but it sure is very unexpected how the plot goes.
This is way better than Spy Family and Demon Slayer Infinity Train, is totally worth the hype.
Came in with big expectation and it exceeds my expectation, nice.

Kaguya-sama's author really is something special.  Most authors next manga is usually worse than their previous popular series, however the author  kinda surpass his previous work and deliver another series that's special and instantly grab new audiences' heart.  This series would surely go viral and popular.

It's a reminder of how lucky Japan is that we never got to even hear about something similar actually happen irl, but there have been some close calls.

No, far from it. I thought that the murder scene is just a shock factor not to mention there are 4 deaths in just one episode. Rie's delivery is quite good I would say.

I already new. What will happen I read it in the manga plenty of times but it hits differently in the anime even if you read the scene the sheer effort and work put into this is surprisingly 100%

At first half I thought this is gonna be a normal Slice of Life with a bit Drama that shows their mother-daughter son relationship. But I guess I'm wrong, I never saw any poster or anything related to Oshi no Ko (Even the trailer), I think this anime was more focused on Hoshino Ai 🥲

Nah, no way. Not me.

This meme is what ruined the entire episode for me. I didn't read manga, I didn't know what is going to happen - I decided that I want to watch it based on teasers and Chibi reviews reactions. But some dumbass randomly posted that meme on 9gag just after the episode release. Entire episode I couldn't get attached to AI because I knew what was coming and because of that I almost felt nothing - screw that guy

But overall ep was great, great voice acting, super visuals, very good introduction to characters and the story.

The english dub of Ai will probably be trash! they better get her expression down like Takahashi, Rie did!

You need a Hollywood star for that, there's no budget for such in a US dubbing studio.

I actually did tear up at the death scene, it was just absolutely incredible how well done and emotionally powerful that scene was. No other first episode of any show has made me tear up.

it's going be hard to even come close to match how perfect it was in japanese, but let the cook first. who knows, top tier casting miracles happen.

just look at steins;gate

I didn't cry. It requires more than that to make me tearing. But tbph, I feel fuking empty right now and depressed as hell. I can't move to watch the next anime. Maybe this is worst than crying.
