| Domestic na Kanojo I mean it expressed so much in so little time. It might not have impressed many with it's execution, but it managed to impress me with how it combined heavy themes and wholesome moments to ease the tension. It was done almost seamlessly. |

| I've also elected to include 11 episode series since they fall into the same general category in my view (and are just less common and something of an "odd duck" out) as well as decided to construct an ordered and hierarchical Top 25 comprised solely of 11 - 13 episode series. It's interesting, because this 11 - 13 episode format and the running time allotted by it occupies a very specific place where I feel that it's actually been one of my major complaints and sources of dissatisfaction with some more recent series, like several seasonals I've watched from 2020 - 2022. I believe it's very typical and actually the norm for these series to be extremely rushed and shoddily executed compared to what they could be with a higher episode count and longer running time afforded to them. This particularly affects a lot of very plot-centric, drama and action series, as they often either don't have enough time to get more in-depth with the various characters, subjects, and topics covered, or they partially do but it's jumbled and fast-paced enough to feel too messy, artificial, and inorganic in the final result. Because it didn't have time and space to develop naturally as much as it could have and as it should have been allowed to. And yet some of my top favorites of all time and source of a few of my only 10/10s are series of this episode count. The usual exceptions for me where the length doesn't serve as a hindrance are either super dense and extremely intricate and well-written, auteur directed series that are among the most unique and well-executed anime and media/art period I've seen (and it goes without saying that most aren't written or directed to this fanatically exceptional standard) and Slice of Life + iyashikei and Slice of Life series, where the length can be (but doesn't have to be) just right and doesn't serve as a hindrance in the first place. Hakumei to Mikochi 18.) Goblin Slayer 19.) Ikoku Meiro no Croisee the Animation 20.) Beautiful Bones - Sakurako's Investigation 21.) Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash 22.) Gakkougurashi! 23.) Saraiya Goyou 24.) Fune wo Amu 25.) Time Travel Shoujo: Mari Waka to 8-nin no Kagakusha-tachi |
