Actually, it can be. I don't want to think that I have a depression, but I always in a bad mood and sometimes I have suicidal thoughts. But I think for now, I am okay. Anime is one of the things that maybe can keep my mood up, especially some anime that makes me relax or what people called iyashikei.

There was a point in my life that i only woke up in the morning so i could watch the seasonals, i litterally lost motivation to do anything, so yeah, it helped a lot, but prevent suicide... idk, maybe, but people think diffent from each other so its hard to tell.

Not my life. But yeah, certainly someone else. I mean, a ton of people keep talking about how Clannad changed their lives.

i saved my mothers life and i think anime gave me this presence of mind that allowed me to react to such a situation.

her maternal side rejected her over love marriage of my sister this broke her completely. One day she had a little fight with my father which frustrated her she went straight to the roof to jump i ran and grabbed she began shouting and then i hugged her she kept crying for several minutes over my shoulder, my mom never hugs anyone as you can see she is from a conservative family but i thought it was the best thing to do at that time.

finally her mental health significantly improved after that.

I don't know about this subject and i don't want to be the judge of depression as i never faced it and as far as i remember clinical depression is not something that can be treated with anime, like therapy and constant meds are the only way to treat it and sure anime might make you happy and come out of that place but it's not a solution, so i don't know what sources said this, but i am pretty sure it's hella wrong.

Thing is depression by zoomers is a running joke and they treat bad day or some time of sadness with depression and will claim oh anime saved my life but in reality they didn't have it and there are people with legit issues and anime helped them but only temporarily.
2025 might be the year where I will be happy. This year is not happy year.

Oof... little dark. Anime can be a great comfort and escapism to some, but getting too heavy with it that it consumes their whole life isn't a good thing either. Needs to be a happy medium somewhere. But I don't think Anime in itself is especially special or different from other escapism options out there.

Tbh, yes. Well it can't heal depression and suicidal thoughts, at least for me it does not. Not sure how that would work.
But it kinda keeps me alive for like more than 20 years now (especially DBZ kinda saved me and helped a lot so I could make some friends in my school days, but it's the same for a lot of other anime). For me it's like those machines in hospital wich keep you alive while being in a coma, just a bit better than that, because anime/manga/gaming are keeping me busy and are just amazing, because you can travel in between different worlds with amazing stories. But it's not therapy. It's just an opportunity to get a break from a sad and miserable life for certain amount of time. Distraction. Imho good distraction. Better than alcohol and drugs or some other things.

Is it sad? Sure. But my therapists and doctors (I had a lot since I was 10 years old x)) couldn't help until now. Still waiting for my appointments to get further diagnosis (because it's not only depression, there are a lot of mental illnesses and its not always easy to find someone who can diagnose with the right one or is able to diagnose them all at once) which actually make it possible to find the right specialist who actually can help me. I don't think that I am beyond help, but it's not easy to find the right specialist for every problem. Some people underestimate this issue a lot. I am, yet again on a 1 year waiting list. And not everyone has a good family and friends that are there for them.

So yeah, until then I am hanging onto my life support machines in form of anime/manga/gaming/books/internet and keep on going I guess.
