i dont know why, but i get depressed and really emotionally atatched to Yuri and shoujo ai series.

watching them is like being in heaven,...
...being without them, or finnish watching them once they have ended is like having a knife cutting of your Arteries.

Not true. I am a female, and I don't care for Yaoi. I am actually really shocked that there are more males here than females. Yaoi actually bores me and I don't get the same feeling watching it as I do as when I watch Yuri. I watched Loveless and I was bored out of my mind and was actually disappointed when it ended. I was thinking "That's it?" and "What a waste of time." However I can see why some girls might like it. It's because the guys are usually overly emotional. I don't like how Yaoi seems to have one somewhat masculine guy and a really feminine guy to the point where he behaves almost like a girl or looks like you can't even tell if they are a girl or not. I find Yuri to be really beautiful an romantic. I also gain such a emotional connection with the characters and the story it when I watch it, that I don't want it to end.

Wow, I actually feel same way. Honestly, I am surprised a male can be so emotionally attached to Yuri. And I apologize in advanced; it is not my intention to offend. But I always though, that the reason why males would usually watch Yuri is because of perverted reasons. So, I'm glade to see there are males who actually care about the character's emotions and appreciates the story.

I'm pretty sure there's some males that watch yuri because of perverted reasons but for example I started watching yuri because it has more to offer in the emotions between the characters than ''normal'' romance anime or etc.

Well i for 1 watch yuri for both reasons. Good story and romance is the reason why i keep watching the series and any ecchi is just a bonus.
However some kiss scenes between female characters can only be described as beautiful.

On a side note Loveless was a very bad yaoi anime, supposedly the manga finishes it off but i haven't read it so i can't be certain. But you do get good yaoi involving; masculine x masculine, masculine x feminine , feminine x feminine(generally shorta) male characters.

luckily for me that the first one that I watched was Aoi Hana so I used to think "hey, the romance was actually very good in these kind of genre" so I was expecting that kind of romance in Yuri and Shoujo Ai.

but now, I can Honestly say that I watched for the sake of the Story and the pervertness

Ahh, I'm female ^^; but gender isn't that important to me, you like what you like, so... /shrugs I've read yaoi before too, but sometimes I have trouble finding something that isn't straight up porn X_X Not that I dislike reading sex scenes at times, but I find it badly stereotypes homosexuals. >_<
yuri isn't always perfect either, for instance I just read sorario (?) and I didn't find it that great of a yuri manga, but I guess part of the reason I read them is because I want to feel... more normal? Only difference is I can't touch my girlfriend since she is too far away orz I think mangas for the most part could do better on long distance relationships..

i thought i might add this. but there is a very good anime movie, about long distance relationships, albeit it is not a yuri. 5 Centimeters Per Second. i have not watch this yet, so i can't comment on its quality but i read a few reviews. Also it is an anime not a manga, hope this is of any use.

I'm female.

But the strange thing is.. I'm straight. I think. Well, for the most part. 99% sure. And the stranger thing is, I hate yaoi. Yet I absolutely love yuri. (The genuine kind of yuri romance manga, not the hentai kinds.. uh except for that cute one where the girl has a cold.. but that's another story!)

I'm not sure why though. I'm a teenager so I guess I'm usually not sure of lots of things anyway.

I don't like yaoi at all. I don't get any lovely feelings from it whatsoever. Only dirty feelings. I don't know. Maybe I'm just too innocent..

Yuri, on the other hand, is very beautiful to me. The delicate artwork, the heartfelt confessions, the softness of it all.. ah, it's so adorable. I don't know what's wrong with me.

I think nothing is wrong with you ... everyone has different "tastes" (I'm also no fan of yaoi) and your feeling about yuri are quite "normal" otherwise this club wouldn't exist! ^^

This brings up another interesting topic i guess, cuz how many straight females r out there watching yuri? When people hear you like yuri they always assume you're either a guy or a lesbian.

One of these days I'm going to call them all up and say,
"Oh nothing much. I'm just watching some yuri with my BOYFRIEND."

Well, maybe I'm only a minority.

I picked up yuri because i loved the humor in yuru yuri...t cracked me up.I also liked the subtle romance in it.And I realised that in non yuri manga/anime I am a yuri shipper,so that's how it started...

you know in anime how passionate some characters get about yaoi, and how most of those are female (Akagi, Sena Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai), so im assuming that your friends are something like that (if you don't know who Akagi is you must watch the series. S2 is currently airing)
