@thepotatoprince trust me its a paradox at this point like the jobless envy the workers while the workers envy the jobless

but if your family is rich then you can be a neet without future worries

@IpreferEcchi

How are people even doing this?
So you are telling me no job center or parent told you to fuck off and beccome an adult at some point?
(If you are not disabled, that is)

I'm all in for less work than 40 hour weeks and all, and I understand people, who are struggling, but at some point that becomes absurd.

Social welfare is not "for free" tho.
You have to be at the job center, actively looking for a job, in rehab or if you are totally unable to work, you go through an Odyssey of doctor appointments that are really targeting sick people sometimes.
They don't pay welfare to people, who don't want to work.

I don't like this idea that being a NEET is some choice that you make, because it's not. It's not like we got Universal Basic Income

The welfare system in the west was built up year after year for many generations because your ancestors wanted their descendants to have it a little bit better than they did, and so that their descendants would have a social safety net in case that they'd get ill or otherwise unable to work and make a living for themselves. It wasn't made for lazy people to leech off it but for people who genuinely got no other options

@Tressym

I told them all fuck off right back, because if I got a job during any of those periods, I would get fired because I would refuse to do anything.

I need to do things that I want to do before employment, and nobody will pressure me.
I got a checklist. uwu

I have talents that I'm gatekeeping, like, programming, adapting music scores to piano, etc.

I don't have my own cell phone / smart phone. I don't have a driver's license. I didn't take college courses. xD
I've lived with my parents my whole life and they trust me.

Wealth isn't static so I assume you'd still be expected to do some bare minimum chores to make it worth it for them to ignore you for the rest of the month or year

To be fair, most of these people have mental or physical issues and just appear lazy.
Nobody wants to do nothing all day. Even if it's not a paid job, you wanna do anything worthwhile.

I ask myself if I'm lazy or just low energy.

I do function each day but sometimes I need time off for a day or two.

Functioning burns me out sometimes. I actually plan to set aside college, then get a certificate, then start looking for work.

Maybe I just need a break or two.

i've never been a true NEET myself. i did have a rather extended period of time of being unemployed (about 6 years or so), but i always had some sort of side hustle going on that i'd have at least some money coming in. idk how others are okay with it, but nothing fills me with more dread and worthlessness than being reliant on others. whether that's friends, family, or even the government. the idea that my survival or even my entire existence is dependent on the will of others is something i can't live with. even if i were in a situation where my family was well off and i didn't "have" to work, i feel that i would still have to do something to break free from the nest and rely on myself. help is always okay. but dependence is not.

Depends what you wanna achieve in life, as a man without a job you most probably won't be able to get a girlfriend, of course this wouldn't apply if you were female, because gender equality doesn't exist.

@DesuMaiden It costs money and it's a shittier version of a computer and there's no need for any phone except a house phone if you're always home.

And you can get honeypotted on a cell / smart phone but can't automatically on a computer since 1 on 1 contact isn't the main point of a computer.

@IpreferEcchi well I own a smartphone for surfing the Internet at public places. I just use the wifi. I never surf the Internet with a data plan (in fact, I don't even have a phone number for my smartphone).

If I were born female, would my life be easier? Probably more dangerous but I live in a super safe area. So, these two just cancel each other out.

I don't know who has it easier overall, but males are much more likely to be injured, so it's statistically much safer to be female.
