@XMGA030 i guess the difference between me and other neets is that i'm actually happy, i ate what i want and play video games and watched anime when there's nothing to do, and i don't really cared about what the others think. |

@LoveYourSmile who cares about females man @Zarutaku I object to this loaded word 'saved'. Becoming a miserable wageslave with no time for yourself and all the stresses of adult life is more like being damned than saved. As for that shit, I've got an anime girl with much better guidance... @Ymir_The_Viking i guess the difference between me and other neets is that i'm actually happy Trust me, that's going to change in a few years. |

Well, that's how human society has evolved to work, men provide for their families, for most of them it's their life purpose, and they feel fulfilled by it. |

I'm not a hikikomori, I'm a neet. NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). I'm not withdrawn or isolated in a room like a hikikomori. I'm Active in the community like Refereeing neighborhood sports meets, helping with errands for some cash. I am Responsible for my life like Paying bills, filing taxes returns, manage assets, doing housework . I'm Physically engaged like Playing sports regularly, hitting the gym cause I'm staying fit as I've nobody to take care of me. I also help out old people with groceries shopping I get to keep change and get free stuff and food. I'm unemployed forever but Independent, I Living solo and managing my life and i don't want to but I have no option. |

@Ymir_The_Viking Well, as my Granny used to say: "Imagine EVERYBODY was doing that" Take her advice and just envision a world where we all just did nothing all day. It would hurt, wouldn't it?^^ Is life kinda hard sometimes, out there? Sure. Could the boss yell at you? Yeah, he might. @Merve2Love Yeah, I am not going to beat people when they are temporarily going through stuff. I have had a year or two, lost in a transition period where I was a NEET. That said, if you don't make an effort to climb out of that, and find something to do, you are in fact hurting someone, whether that be your parents, tax payers....someone. You have to provide something meaningful to society. Otherwise you are just lazy, and shameless, which some posters, seem to be here. Those who do not work, do not eat, and I know in welfare states, or those who have exceptionally gracious parents, may not get that, however, since the beginning of time everyone has had to work, to eat. Blaming outside societal forces (yeah we didn't have to work for a living before Adam Smith lol) or justifying that behavior (cause working is hard) is laziness. Yes of course, we need to advocate for better wages, and working conditions, however, when you literally don't contribute anything, I mean it's hard to take said opinions seriously, especially as you sit here, enjoying media, that is literally a product of labor. Everything in life is a product of labor. And while, working is tough hard, and sometimes awful, there are absolutely jobs out there, you can find some pleasure in, like my current one. I honestly don't get the mindset of full time Hikikis. Like even pleasure gets boring after awhile, and living that lifestyle pretty much just guarantees isolation. Even when I went through those periods, I had to do something, that wasn't just wasting away, eating, consuming entertainment and going to bed. I spent time learning how to cook, draw, and went for long walks/exercised because again, wasting away sucks just as much as working. You need a balance in all things. Anyway you are right, I guess hopefully some of them take your post to heart, because you know, even if we lived in a post labor world, people would need to still apply themselves to literally something. Constant pleasure/hedonism isn't a good thing for the human mind. |

@BilboBaggins365 It's just selfish. The world would just collapse if everybody had that mindset. I agree, it's just shameless. Escpecially if you're fine and capable, but you just chose it, as a Lifestyle. And I think it's wrong to then go and celebrate that behavior, on here. It's a big middle-finger to anybody who actually bites the bullet, toughens up and gets on with it. Im not talking about people who're actually mentally ill or go through some stuff and need to isolate, for a while, of course. As you said: You need to make an effort, tho. Otherwise you're just lazy. |

I get struggling through training/education, I get feeling overwhelmed etc. It's just saying oh yeah, I am not going to even try, because other people will take care of me....I mean that is beyond shameless lol. IDK to me, I always hate feeling like I owe someone, anything, even when someone is actually helping me, and giving me things in good faith. Im not talking about people who're actually mentally ill or go through some stuff and need to isolate, for a while, of course. I was really happy when I could actually fund my own car, fund my own food, fund my own entertainment, and have significant savings....I mean if you have the ability to live the NEET life, if anything that probably means you have the opportunity to work, and not be 1 meal/bill from destitution. That is a blessing you are throwing away. Ymir_The_Viking said: My best friend, went back to school, at your age, and now is making good salary. @Ymir_The_Viking Dude, that's different. If you actually do have some medical problem then that's hard. And I hope you get better. But keep looking. You don't just give up in your early 20's. @StarlaFox That's okay. You can dislike it. I also don't think that current Life is awesome all around, don't get me wrong. But that's our reality, you know what I mean? It doesn't matter that current society might be flawed. It's what we've got. That's our world. And I think you should live in reality, instead of just isolating and not taking part, at all. :) Taking part is needed. IF everybody was chilling at home it wouldn't work. |

I didn't know work or go to school from when I was 18 to around when I was 28. That's ten years of doing nothing. I don't know what it was. I do have mental illness but it's better now. But I also really struggled with commuting. Online school for me is 100 times better. I don't have to leave the house. While I do understand both sides of the situation, I personally prefer school and work because I wanna save as much money as possible. I like having a nest egg. I don't know who's right. I don't know who's wrong. I just wanted to share my experience because you never know what the future will bring. No judgment from me. I just wanted to get this off my chest. |
