| well i would say there has been very good romances this season imo, i would place at the top dangers in my heart and insomniacs after school. I dont include skip to loafer (which i think it has been great as well) since it seems more focused on the friendship aspect than the romance. A Galaxy Next door was plain and boring for me, and i didnt see anything interesting from yamada-kun lvl 999, at least story wise. |
| I watched Skip and Loafer, Yamada-kun, Insomniacs and this and they've all been really slow burners in the romance aspect. Dangers has probably gotten the closest to a proper confession with Insomniacs coming second, but not finished at the time of writing. The romance aspect of the other 2 has been so slow you can hardly call them romances. Hard to say my favourite, I could pick any out of Dangers, Insomniacs or S&L but all for different reasons. Yamada-kun definitely bottom of the 4 though. The thing with all of them is that the mangas are all ongoing, so my favourite of the year is still Tomo-chan because it was an adaptation of a finished story and so feels more complete. That and it was hilarious. |

| yeah definitely top romance this year SO FAR, with Insomniacs coming very close second, just and only because it's more of a drama and this one is more fun. bokukoko leads are symphatetic and don't really act too "trope-ific", their arcs are semi-realistic(for kids). Same can be said for insomniacs, but it's definitely more mature show, with realistic death flags, believable motivations, reasons and stuff you'd expect from a well written character story. It is more coming of age, fighting inner demons story than romance tho Kubo-san... I had high hopes as I greatly enjoyed the first half, but I somehow didn't feel it afer return anymore. Something was... off. Manga is sweet tho, finished, and a S2 worth of material with a set end which could be great. Yamada 999 was ok... gloomy male caracter, but Akane was fantastic Galaxy next door was ok... wishy washy... somehow uneventful, the stinger drama was meh. Skip to loafer is very well written, but SO SLOW. I think manga actually suits the storytelling style of the author better. Fantastic side characters Angel next door was ok... somehow uneventful, but I enjoyed it for the chill characters. Tomo-chan was just a (retarded) comedy with a thin veil of implied romance. I didn't like it at all. Tonikawa is a slice of married life, fun to chill to, no stakes or drama whatsoever, which somehow takes away a bit, but season 1 is still one of my favs. Snowman-kun... dunno... a bit ok, side characters were ok Nagatoro wasn't as fun as the S1 for a comedy based show. |
