No you're not the only one. From what I've seen about something more than half prefers the Chimera ant arc and the other part prefers the York new city arc. I personally prefer the Chimera ant arc but York new is still an amazing arc.

I still love Yorknew city arc and when HxH wouldn't have Chimera ant arc,I would give HxH still like 8/10 overall but because of Chimera ant HxH became my favourite anime so far.

I like both but prefer York New as well. The pacing is better, it’s the first arc where nen is really allowed to shine, and I’m a big fan of Chrollo.

its definetely much better paced, but i love both of them in different ways, i loved yorknew because its was just a joy to watch the fights and the spiders were awsome, but chimera was the greatest arc i have seen anime, maybe besides return of shiganshina in aot, but still, chimera ant arc was one of the greatest things i have ever seen

No you're not. Chimera is one of the worst arcs in HxH the only satisfying thing about it is Meruem & Komugi's conclusion and maybe the big power ups Gon & Killua get but honestly that's about it for me
I definitely agree with Yorknew being better it's even my fav HxH arc

Yeah. Chimera ant arc was very boring and a chore to get through. This arc is the only reason as to why I prefer the 1999 version more

Well, both are near the same quality. While one is consistent throughout, the other has the highest peaks in HxH. So I can understand why you like it more. In my opinion, Yorknew and chimera ant are both equally good.

You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion. I thought I recalled the Chimera ant arc being the best, but rewatching HxH (currently at end of greed island), the Yorknew city arc is much better than I remembered.

Same. I consider York New City arc as the best as well. I like it's masterful narrative and characters, motives of each character are distinct and acceptable. Each Fight and events are all just epic and memorable. The only thing was that it was too short.

I prefer chimera ant arc a hundred times more than Yorknew. I believe that chimera ant arc was legendary and second to none. That said I loved Yorknew and think it was top notch as well .

No you’re far from being the only one. If I had to guess, it’s about 60% of fans that enjoy the chimera ant arc and 40% that like Yorknew city arc. (Took that percentage from what I’ve seen and heard. Still just a guess)

No, I preferred Yorknew as well. The CAA was about 8-10 episodes longer than it needed to be. It dragged too much for my liking.

Both still top arcs though.

In terms of overall enjoyment, I prefer Yorknew too. Pacing is better, fights are awesome and I can rewatch it endlessly. But Chimera Ants is the superior arc in every aspect: plot, character development, likeable new characters, satisfying conclusion. I just don't rewatch it as much because it's sad AF.

I would say the majority prefer CA over the rest, but there’s also many who dislike it. Yorknew seems to be beloved by most if not all, so it’s probably a decently common take. it’s fair, for sure. I think they’re both amazing arcs, but I definitely have CA above YN

I think neither surpasses the other.
In my opinion, the main flaw of Yorknew City arc is that it's not well fleshed out (although it's still amazing) and a little bit superficial, while the Chimera Ant arc it's slow and again, not well fleshed out.

Overall yorknew city was more enjoyable, the pacing was better and it had a lot of interesting characters and fight scenes. Chimera ant had more depth and growth through the characters but it dragged too long and a lot of the episodes was a chore to get through, I think it could’ve been delivered in a more thrilling way. Enjoyability Yorknew wins, but in regards to content and plot—chimera ant was better.

I gotchu back. Chimera was a total letdown. It built up the hype but took some episodes for just 20 seconds stair scene. Also, some asspulls here and there and the anime ended witch chairman election which was worse imo although greed island seemed to be filler imo. Yorknew city was such a banger. Too bad we weren't able to see kurapika anymore.

i am currently at episode 125 (so 11 more to go i think for the CA arc) and the story is pretty boring and just drags on.. so many characters being introduced for no real purpose and the main story is entirely off the rails i dont think the arc can redeem itself in my eyes even if i would give every single episode i watch of it a 10/10 from now on. having heard before the arc is "the best in anime history" i am already sure it is not (this is just my opinion obviously). yorknew was a fun ride tho, actually liked it a lot.
