That was low-key one of the best confessions I have ever seen in anime. It's just one of those where you catch yourself smiling.
Towasa is a rather prominent figure of this world, but man her security for that event really sucked. The dude got up from his seat, ran down the aisle, yelled her name, got on the stage, stood there for a few seconds, pulled out his gun and then waited another couple seconds, shot her, Akira ran up to her to protect her, and then he manages to shoot him as well, three times, all before some guards finally come to subdue him. Let's just say that it all actually happened super fast and what we witnessed was it just happening in slow motion. Also valid crashout. Towasa wants to do a neurolink and put microchips in all their brains? Hell nah. I thought she just wanted to make androids, not turn humans into androids. Anyway.
In any case, all this leads to Akira waking up.... several, maybe hundreds, of years into the future. At this point I was like "heck yeah", because I thought this show was gonna be about some virtual reality like sword art online. But no, a post-apocalyptic world where it's all REAL is way better. We don't know what exactly happened yet, but the whole android thing had to have something to do with it, and that probably a handful of humans survived by becoming androids themselves no doubt, Akira being one of them most likely. I guess they just forgot to set a waking date for him and just left him in a cyro chamber until it broke down. Poor guy.
At this point I am very, very intrigued. I hope they build upon this captivating premise that has been set up, and not become indistinguishable from your typical dime-a-dozen generic-ass fantasy-type anime. Hope I didn't jinx it. Fingers crossed. |
