AnimeDownUnder said:there's always something better especially LOTGH, by far one of the worst anime i've seen and it's not even just subjective either from an objective point of view There is no objectivity in art lol. Whatever "objective" points you seem to think you have, I guarantee are very subjective. You have given high ratings to shows/films I thought were pretty bad/meh like 91 Days, Dr Stone, Akira, Fairy Tail etc. People have different opinions and we might just look for different things in media. If you don't care to understand why it's better to just accept that, rather than continuing to ask.
Again that is your opinion, in my opinion I haven't encountered anything better. I can explain why LOTGH spoke to me specifically, and why I think it's the best anime I have ever watched, and in my opinion it's not even the fact it was the best, but rather the gulf between it, and a lot of my other favorites is high, so yeah that also contributes to my view. Kingdom is my second favorite, and it's no where near as good as LOTGH, and most of my favorites are in that situation. So even when I encounter an anime, that is a 9 or 10/10, it's unlikely to top my favorites, and I am okay with that, no anime. including LOTGH has ever topped LOTR for me, either.
Anyway, I have seen my share dude. Since I have created my MAL back in like 2017, the majority of time, I have spent on anime, has been watching new shows. I am just getting to the point where I feel I should prioritize that less, as I get burnt out on finding that next big work.
Ultimately I don't think pursuing the best media out there, is the point of art. Sometimes it's fun not to watch the "best stuff" out there, and just watch some dumb films/shows. Different works have different appeals, for different moods, and sometimes you don't want high class art.
Still, I won't lie, that hey recently, I got more hyped for reading, than say watching anime, because I have found works in literature, that have jumped out to me. Works that I would have given a 10/10 if they were anime, like the recent Suneater series I have gotten into. It's important to of course encounter works like that, if you want to stay a die hard fan. It's been like 7 years though, since I have really encountered an anime, where I felt like this was a true 10/10. Last one was Mushishi, which I watched in 2019. At the very least, a lot of people really like JoJo Part 7, and JoJo has been a franchise, that has always been a borderline 10/10 work for me, so maybe that one will be that 10/10 I am looking for.
Still, when you get into ruts like that, where you feel it's hard to find that next 10/10 or 9/10, then rewatches are great, for reminding you why you love the medium. And great, if you don't feel that way, I do, so rewatching for me is important in my continuing interest, in the medium. So yeah, I have explained it to you, and others have given their reasons, no one is trying to convince you to re-watch if you don't feel that way.
Finally, I mean you are free to point me to the work in my PTW that will guarantee a placement in my top 5, though again, I just don't expect that very often anymore. |
