Why do people need to be accepted by others? The truth is the reason people care about others opinion and seek social validation is because we were socially conditioned from a young age to care what other's think and our ancestor's genes are inside us. Ever since we were little we were taught to care about what are family, teachers, friends, peers and society thinks of us that we lost our authentic selves. Also, our ancestors lived in a time where if you didn't seek others approval and cared about other's opinions, you were ostracized from your tribe. So caring about what other's think comes from our survival genes. That's why rejection from others feels scary because our survival genes are activated. It's a combination of genes and social conditioning, but the truth is you don't need others to accept you for survival today. There are all sorts of government resources and programs that you don't need to rely on someone's validation for survival. Also, seeking acceptance through validation from others is just an illusion, and if it is just an illusion you don't need any validation from others for acceptance.

Ancestral Roots
Survival and belonging – In tribal societies, acceptance by the group was essential for survival. Rejection could mean death.

Reproductive success – Positive reputation increased chances of finding a mate and passing on genes.

Cooperation and protection – Being well-regarded helped secure allies and protect against threats.

Social Conditioning:
Early rewards and punishments – From childhood, we're conditioned to seek approval and avoid disapproval through praise, scolding, or punishment.

Cultural norms – Society teaches us to conform to expected behaviors to avoid shame or exclusion.

Media and peer influence – Constant exposure to idealized images and social comparisons reinforces the need for external validation.

Most humans have a natural desire of belonging to people who accept them, which is also the root cause of tribalism, for better and for worse.

Human beings are social beings who need human warmth, so it makes sense that people buried their real identity to have friends.

Because we live in a society 🤡

I find it ironic that you ask people this. Even everything you use is still provided by others. Talking about good or bad, it depends on how you handle it.

My head hurts after reading all these paragraphs. Did you like, just finish reading No Longer Human or something? Aaaanywayyys, who said I did love myself. I don’t do that. I’ll accept me, but not love me.

I don't. As long as my parents are proud of me I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

We live in a society, unironically. It's what we owe to each other, or whatever philosophy The Good Place had.

Anxiety and depression make my thoughts feel out of control sometimes. It makes you feel like other people are constantly judging you, and in return, you feel the need to act in a way that will be accepted by others.

Nah, I believe you should always be true to yourself and the right people will come your way. You can't please everybody as they say.

Some people need to be loved, this is it.

Contrary to modern therapists not everyone wants to be loved.

When they can't fully accept me, they gag. Not sure if I love that or not, situational.

I only need acceptance in the sense of having a chill stable job where i earn and no one messes up with it and acceptance in the romantic/sexual sense, so i only need the acceptance from others that is minimally required to settle down financially and the acceptance needed from some others or one and only in a sexual, romantic sense. They are related to my goals in life: Stable source of income (unfortunately through work since i wont win lottery) and a stable sexual/romantic life (preferably with one person). I dont have nor ever had any of that.

Other kinds of acceptance from others are not needed

frankly, for me I guess the reason is living in society. I want the basic acceptance. in the little imitation of the real world society called "a classroom" I have always struggled to fit in and be accepted simply for looks and because "I was never enough". being accepted has always been my wish and dream.

naturally with age, humans feel braver to live more freely, but as I am not ready to live in the forest just yet, please accept me into your cult.

You seek for validation because you want to know the value of what you think is worthy. Say that the earth revolves around the sun during medieval times and you'll get executed. Whether it's our ancestor or our present selves, we still need validation for survival.

The underlying problem is not survival. Ask yourself, "Do i have to stop at just survival or desire for more?". Let's just say scholars in the past stopped researching heliocentrism out of fear from execution. Would their knowledge persevere to this day? They find value in things that most people don't. They want their ideas to be validated, to change the value of their times and expand their knowledge. Validation is a way of understanding whether you see eye to eye with one another. But most of the time, you don't need to be validated to know what's important to you. The biggest strength of jung's theories is that it focuses on internal validation rather than an external validation. Focusing on internal validation keeps what's important and valuable constant and unchanging even under the influence of others. Because if people see value in themselves, why bother deny it by accepting the value of others? Jung's theories draws the line between when to compromise and when to believe in yourself. That's why his theories are often used in research or essays.

I thought this is just nonesense, but i should've known this is one of jung's theories.
