The possibility of a s2 is not completely nil as of rn. The team / core staff of 86 were doing Nier Automata until last season and Tetsuya Kawakami(Character designer and Chief Animation Director of 86) was busy with Makeune as Character designer and CAD for it. Above all the main unit of s1 the director himself, Toshimasa Ishii is free now. Let's hope we hear something about it in Anime Japan 2025, lot's of LN adaptation get announced there

Lately the anime that will get a second season gets announced within 1 year of the season ending. The anime that doesn't get announced by that time lately rarely will get a second season. Sadly 86 is past that time frame so I doubt it will get another season.

@Borazan1 its uh not season 2 but Cour (Part) 2, a lot of website listed it as season 2 which caused a lot of confusion...... but according to Aniplex its Season 1 with 2 Cours (Part).... the one ur reffering to is Cour(Part) 2

@Rinrinka I Do Agree the Ending is well done...... but i have to say i have a love and hate relationship with the light novel now lol which directly affects the way i perceive the ending.....The LN beautifully written and makes me wanting for more and now i view the ending as a huge cliffhanger with the villain still at large 😅..... do reccomend it if ur interested there are 13 Volumes which Volume 13 is going to be released this december.

Aspects i think is really good in LN:
1. Character Developement (MC and Sides)
2. New lore and Developement (Legion)
3. Dynamic Wise is Awesome (Not only the MC which are Shin & Lena but sides as well)
4. World Building as well is pretty good

These things above made me realize the series barely scratched the Main story of 86.... still have fate for more 😁👍

Tbh I think there’s a pretty good chance take this with a grain of salt but I did see something a reliable leaker said they was going to announce a sequel too 86 mid 2025. Besides that though I genuinely believe we will get more as the novel is damn near perfect and A-1 have been very busy with NieR but no that’s over so I’m hoping we see something relatively soon.

@mmikulski FR..... Have faith it will surely have one, no official news yet but i heard the cast (Seiyu) did enjoy and was really into it.... even the Animators did also liked the project a lot despite the setbacks they had.

Meanwhile i do recommend the Light Novel if u wanna start after the Anime which means Volume 4 - 13 (13 is coming out this december), The LNs they are Awesome, Emotional, Thrilling, and overall just 9/10.

Anime & LN:
i gotta give some shiz for Shin's plot armor ngl..... i wanna see more explored areas in the MC which can be appealing and enriching to the main story and as harsh as i may seem i really wanna see Lena's reaction if something were to happen to him.... i think it would serve some depth and also suspense moments, but ehh I'm not the director😅🤣
