| I enjoyed the early episodes before it became a student council election focus. I agree with you. The mc does not appear to have much hobbies at all. The heroine is just getting saved by him all the time making her appear incompetant even as the student council president she is aiming for. I was mainly watching later for the rumored hypnosis scene and ecchi stuff that apparently got skipped for political drama. |

@GangsterCat The first two volumes, as @DragyG puts it, acts as a bait for ecchi fans. I guess you would've regained your interest in the show (like most other users) had they adapted the hypnosis scene from V2 in the latest episode, which would've been much to @DragyG's dismay.
To summarize, it's a full-on ecchi scene where Masachika hypnotizes both Alya and Masha via a book that specializes in hypnosis. Nobody thought this would actually work. It proved to be effective, and Masha went... well... It's better left unsaid.
Back to the stance, Roshidere isn't centered around uncalled for fanservice or ecchi. The rest of the volumes still have them, to some extent. It's a story about struggles and hardship, about fortitude. How the two main characters help each other in overcoming their respective drawbacks; how Masachika tries to rectify his sense of low self-esteem and depressive mindset, as well as his relationship with his mother. Alya acts as a catalyst in his case, benefitting both of them as an emanation. While it has its wholesome and comedic moments, it is important to realize that, that's not the focus of the story.

| I agree with everything you said really, the first episodes when it was mostly about the romcom were much better, but when the student council elections started being mentioned, it became annoying But imo, the worst part is MC's backstory, especially the "I'm actually a genius child from a super rich family, but me and my father left it, and now I have to keep this secret to my grave" was never even hinted at first and feels very forced, especially the "secret" part, which looks like it's just an excuse of the author for MC to not spill the beans about his relationship with Yuki to keep the spice Also, while we're talking about MC's relationship with Yuki, I feel like at some point it suddenly changed from simple siblings that get along despite bickering at each other, to perfect accomplices |

| I disagree, being a romcom is not an excuse to follow the usual tropes of school life stories to force some plot progress Especially since they were already putting some plot progress without the whole student council election stuff, with Yuki's mindgames for example And even there, does a romcom really need an actual serious plot to be good? Back in the days, romcom were pretty casual without big stuff going on and it was fine too It's like they put like 30 threads early on, to develop each of them in different arcs later on, instead of just making new threads organically Imo it's a common problem with the recent japanese stories, they feel like they have to make everything be complicated, when they don't always have to be |

| I didn't even watch this anime yet but your points are too plausible, I can feel a pain of the fellow anime watcher which just wanted to watch some silly comedy with nicely looking female character which is slightly fresh but instead got some ridiculously serious and pretentious social melodrama. My honest condolences. |

You basically wanted a full cliche story with fan service almost every ep and recycling the same jokes every time with no character development, you can’t be serious about it lol. I personally prefer the ones of serious plot to the fluffy ones(don’t hate them though), they’re more down to earth.
I’ve read the first 4 volumes of the LN, at least for me the story isn’t generic and doesn’t use the classic cliche formula of RomCom often.

| Agree. This show fell hard. The drama concerning the student presidency is so overblown it feels like an episode of house of cards whit WW3 stakes. I love that in the last episode they "plan" stuff while throwing in lines " Yes we do it like this"., "Maybe we a bit more like that" cause the author cannot bother to actually think of a strategy and it's left to us to believe they actually have a plan. And ofc the end result was just a boring debate with no actual masterplans that would amaze anyone. It was just "hey look , the current president was a dweeb but worked hard and so can we! " W/e , i give up. This show can go to the trashbin alongside so many others |
| This anime went from great to mid; literally just keep the romcom aspects and it would continue being a 9/10. Now im debating to drop my score to a 7/10 |
