| I just love how this movie shows the audience all of these important and embarrassing moments Taeko experienced as a child. I wish her family was more supportive of her rather than treating her differently because she acts and learns at a different pace. It seems like the main cause of Taeko’s insecurities and regrets as an adult stem from her upbringing specifically her family and the way they acted towards her which was considered normal at the time. She was more ongoing and outspoken than her sisters and made mistakes just like any child does at that age. However, I’m pleased that we saw her return to rural life and learn to appreciate herself as she is. |
