I prefer the original - the new design is more catered to the new teenage generation right now.

Its okay.

I like both of his designs tbh. His new has more to it, but the only downside for me is the hair. They didn't keep the style that rem gave him at all. Older vash has basically the same design elements. Just not as much into thr smaller details. But I still love it. So to put it short, I like either or

I'm personally fine with the new design, it's a new take on Trigun with a more modern simplistic aesthetics. Instead of a big red trench coat with buttons and straps, the newer one is a modern day long coat with zippers. Its the same with Meryl's design and also the technologies shown on screen so far.

I just watch the show as an 'reimagined' and separate it from the original, and Trigun is set in the 32nd century anyways, it is interesting to see/compare how we interpret the future's technologies and fashion through the perspective of someone's eyes in the 90s and right now. Thus, I find the newer design intriguing because it introduces creativity instead of copy and pasting the design direction of the original series.

Both design are good in my opinion and it just comes down to personal preferences. I'd say old and new Vash is similar to Cyberpunk 2077's art direction, some people choose Street Kids and some people goes Corpo, both are good design in their respective direction.

A lot of people complained about the hairstyle, but I find Vash pretty hot with his hair down and always thought of it that way even in the original series, and he just ran out of hair gel in this reboot. Regardless the hair down style would suit CG more in my opinion, otherwise he might look too goofy for the more serious parts of the story, I'm sure they tried out both hairstyle in some demos and came to the conclusion with this hairstyle.

Talking about goofy, the glasses is a bit too big, but maybe he will take it off more often later like the original.

I like the old one, of course I love that style because I was born during that era, belts and grittiness everywhere.
But from an objetive point of view it feels too 90's and some of the cool looking part for me now may seen goofy like.
They did a good job updating the designs, it would have been a shame to just re-use everything design-wise, I mean if you are going to maintain everything form the original and dont add anything new just remaster the original, but this is a remake, is bound to have new things a experiments with it, over all I like it.

Honestly, The new one looks like the "BUSSIN ONG ONG FR FR" memes. I hate it and people who disagree with me are just wrong. comparing this to the OG Trigun is like comparing Fallout New Vegas (In the comparison this would be the 1998 Trigun) to Fallout 4 or 76 (Trigun Stampede), and Fallout New Vegas is better since it actually is a RPG.

If you disagree with me then this is you:

"I like the new Vash and you are just ignorant and can't deal with change! Like he is objectively better, and like he is supposed to look like a K-Pop Boy band singer and your opinion is stupid! Not to mention your comparison of FNV to Fallout 4 is bad, like FO4 works when you install it FNV is old and needs to be patched for playing it in current day." - 🤓

Oh my god, you're right. He didn't keep his old haircut...so much subtle storytelling lost.

Screw this show.

I think both are inferior to his new old hairstyle.

The character design, YES, I prefer it.
The personality, NO, I don't like it.

The Old Vash seemed more mature. While the new Vash, seemed more immature.
By immature I mean, he was like a good natured teenager, stuck between idealistic values and a very harsh reality, that he seemed to shut his eyes to and hope that if he endures long enough, it'll ALL be okay... hopefully.
Feel free to disagree with me, but ideal crazed protagonists, to me are the unappealing sort of martyrs, which I feel pity for, more so then feeling like rooting for.
I prefer the protagonist that plays the role of villain, for the sake of the greater good. Even if the new Vash, is portrayed as a villain, his personality, just doesn't fit that portrayal.

I might be the minority here. But Stampede Vash's original look gave off much more of his Cinnamon Roll vibe, maybe because of the CGI or something else but the OG look didn't do much for me in this modern form than the 90's animation look.

Although I am curious how they'll evolve his look in season 2. But I preferred the original design they first had here in Stampede. Suited for the new age and new vision.

I think Vash’s character design had to be updated for a new generation cause his old one is very outdated and tbh he would’ve been hard to take seriously if Orange had chosen to use the old design

His looks is quite alright, but casting Kirito is a bit  of a nono. He always takes the same roles so i quickly knew what i was in for, and his crappy yelling makes it all worse. Ugh

I prefer the original design because it had far more unique embellishments that is very indicative of the mangaka's style. Also if you've read the manga, you'd recognize that this wasn't just isolated to Vash, the world they inhabited actually sported this aesthetic and design sensibilities (some townsfolk even wore similar clothing just not in red) and it's all part of the manga's charm in how Nightow designs his characters, whether they're named or just mobs. In the manga, Vash even had 3 different coats, specifically his first is shared with the 98 anime, then he has a second one after the moon incident, and the third design is shared with his look in the Badlands Rumble movie, serving as his attire for most of the final battles.

While the new one is passable at a glance, it's far more generic by comparison in trying to adhere to modern sensibilities. Where the original is clearly designed from Nightow's style and aesthetic as an artist, which is carried over in his future works such as Kekkai Sensen, the new one doesn't share that same flair and sensibilities. Also while I was initially okay with the new design, Vash's characterization in Stampede really pales in comparison to both 98 anime and Trigun Maximum with how very little he does in actually leading the story.
