Hard to say, because Rem is such an amazing and important character, but I'm sure you meant it as a "Waifu". In which case, I'm sure ~true~ fans (whatever that means) would still appreciate and love the show for the masterpiece that it is 🙏

I don't think so.

What drew me into Re:Zero was the concept of return by death and all the chaotic madness that comes with it.

With or with out Rem, the show would still be popular because of its unique premise and compelling plot. Much less one blue haired waifu.

Honestly just wanted to see Subaru suffer and slowly go insane.

re:shit would be relegated as garbage along with the rest of seasonal isekai haremblobs.

this has some of the worst writing i've ever seen,
subaru makes deku and kirito almost look like perfect characters.

the entire series is just one long idiot plot with a string of contrivances, and not a single person talks like a real person would talk.
and apparently its supposed to be relatable.
also the world building couldn't be more lazier.
