I've never seen it being made fun of for being unrealistic.
For me it felt boring to watch some guy who has never touched a women, being constantly aroused by some quirky girls and there's so much fanservice. Ig I'm just not a huge fan of the anime's humour.

There are a lot of anime which have the element of realism. Realism you could say is the amount of typical human behavior the characters or populace in the show reflects. What else you expect from fiction and how much it's all subjective .

I watched it last year, it was when I realized the countless possibilities in art and how looking into a wide range of art one can truly expand their way of looking at one.

In short, people watch what they want to watch, they are aware about their likes and dislikes and needs(😏). So most of the time we know what we are getting into. (wrt any new anime show)

Realism makes a character alive and more relatable, because their interactions with the other characters seem genuine and therefore believable scenarios. Take for example Alyosha from Dostoevski's "Bratya Karamazovi" his conversations with his brother and the other people around him are so compeling, because it is something that is plausible and might happen to anyone of us. This is why realism is so important in every story not only in the anime format because it allows us to sympathize and follow the life of a bonda-fide human being.

im in no way aligning myself with the people you described (the 250+ completed animes on my profile should show that) but if we're talking realism, then I like realism of art. there is a difference between watching a normal anime, and an anime whose art looks hand drawn and gives a 90's vibe. best example for me is Mahoromatic.

These guys don’t hate the anime because of the fan service. They hate it because it’s popular and mainstream. They’re the ones who will rush in to call everything overrated and mid trash for idiots. But even if they proclaim themselves as intellectuals the truth is that they would never be able to comprehend and understand the meaning of a “deep” anime. So yeah I strongly doubt they care about the show itself but their anger comes from the shows popularity

"Intellectual" and "realistic" are extremely broad terms to use for such a topic. If you mean realistic in slice-of-life and with characters emotions, I would say without a doubt March comes in like a Lion, plenty more I could throw into this aswell.

I could even go far enough to say A Silent Voice, my girlfriend is deaf and I have a similar character story with Shouya so I can relate extremely heavily with it and say first hand how they nailed it in realism, and even more so in the manga.

To assume your definition of realistic is "representation of a boys feelings", once again you could go Sangatsu, but to give a more mainstream perspective you could take a look at Neon Genesis, and this is only the stuff I have seen and I can't exactly claim title for 'person with most anime seen' so the world is your oyster there I guess.

TL;DR
This has the same energy as "you do it if you're so smart then" and acting like you've just done something.

The easiest way to sum up my problems with the anime is to quote the top rated review. "the problem isn't that it's unrealistic, the problem is that it's unbelievable."
There's nothing wrong if you like it though. I've said before that there's nothing wrong with wish fulfilment anime. That's why harem's and horny romcoms exist in the first place.

The reason why people are upset at dress up darling is mostly because it got really popular despite it not being amazing and partly because the first couple of episodes feel weird to watch and aren’t super great. I’m over it now, but I can definitely relate to being upset that my favourite anime are less popular than anime that are easily worse.
