The anime was already hyped to death, the manga broke records. Of course this movie would continue the streak of success. But everyone who has seen the anime should've known what to expect.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

This movie is definitely overhyped but that's basically how I feel about Kimestu no Yaiba when it first aired in 2019. This movie and all it's praise didn't exactly change my opinion of Kimestu no Yaiba as a whole. Don't get me wrong, I still find the series and this movie entertaining but it's not the end all be all, best anime/movie ever as some people will lead you to believe.
The animation from UFOtable was top notch as expected, and the Japanese voice work was incredible, standouts are definitely Hanae Natsuki and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu.The issues I had was the overall story was kinda lacking. First 2/3 of the movie with the exception of a few emotional Tanjiro dream sequences, was pretty generic. Last third of the movie they introduce a random new antagonist with no real lead up to it. The closing scene with Rengoku, while executed well, lacked any real emotional impact since the audience barely spent any time with Rengoku and only had small tidbits in this movie to get to know him.

Probably not, but for me the quality doesn't have to live up to the record, most of the best selling movies in the world are not even that good anyway, the dark knight were ranked #40 while the overall quality are much more better than most movies from the top 10.
