Just look at the ratings. Is it a hot take? I don't believe it is. I think you hear more of the vocal minority for Shinkai movies just because of the film's sheer member count /popularity, which is what happened here; since the movie is so god damn popular, that's why there's a lot of people who said that Shinkai movies are overrated. The more people who've watched a film, the more likely there will be people who don't like it, right? |

| - People (and the Fate franchise in general) insisting on calling Servants by their class name is incredibly annoying. Just call them by their actual name - it's far less obnoxious and makes it so much clearer who you're talking about. The Fate fandom is also by far the most obnoxious anime fandom. - "Comedy" anime like Nichijou, Daily Lives of High School Boys, and Grand Blue aren't funny. Good for you if you like it, but the humour for them doesn't work for me in the slightest. Nichibros was alright, but Nichijou was boring with some of the most unlikeable characters I've ever seen (Hakase and Mai). Grand Blue was the worst of the lot, with its whole cast being composed of incredibly obnoxious characters and its comedic repertoire being an entire three jokes it repeated ad nauseam for its runtime. - Anime like AnoHana, Angel Beats, and other anime that try so transparently to make the viewer cry aren't sad in the slightest. - The stereotypical 'girly run' so many female anime characters do is really irritating, as is the odd trope of running characters tripping over perfectly flat ground for no apparent reason to make things dramatic. - Season 1 of Re:Zero was better than both parts of season 2. |

| On the whole 'Your Name' discussion, I think that it's a more common opinion about it not being too good within groups that may visit MAL forums and are more seasoned watchers, while to many it's viewed as a masterpiece. It's an unpopular opinion and popular opinion at the same time; a popular one if you're looking specifically on the MAL forums. Maybe not as much elsewhere, sort of puts this thread in an awkward spot generally. That being said I didn't see anything exceptional in the movie and just enjoyed it, didn't give it a super high rating or anything. More than anything I'm just not sure what people see in it that's so outstanding. |

But you are a horrible person for attacking other people online. Radiant's such a great series so far! I don't know if I'd call it the future shonen king or One Piece's successor though simply because it's still fairly new, it definitely has the potential though. |

| So many of the "serious/mature" shows that cover moral or social topics are just. So pretentious. I genuinely do not get how folks can unironically enjoy shows like Psycho-Pass and Parasyte: the Maxim without seeing just how up its own ass the show is with their messages. It's gotten to the point where I literally have a small running list of shows that I call "what I wish Psycho-Pass was". And every single time I express my displeasure for these types of shows, the ones I named in particular, I'm met with "oh, well you just didn't understand it". I sure did, but these folks don't realize that just because someone disagrees with them doesn't mean the other party is immediately wrong or stupid. For a less negative, unpopular opinion: dubs are just as valid as subs, and the viewer is usually smart enough to make their own decision on which to watch. Dubs are wonderful for accessibility purposes, so I find it frustrating when people say they shouldn't exist at all. A dub existing is not going to inflict damage upon the property you love. I usually hate this argument but it works here in relation to dubs: "don't like? don't watch" |
