Runox, Ayden

The city that once stood so strong against the forces of darkness, now down in ruins. These were the once lively streets people seeked shelter from the storm of shadows at, and in place of the once peaceful atmosphere, a smell of death sends chills down the spine of any who is to step into the remains of this battlefield.

No matter what it was, it's evident how idiotic humans needed be to have believed they ever stood chance against it. And there they lied, all over the streets, suffering from the outcome of their stupidity. Hopefully, they were in peace now.

News of technology from the war era and rumors of these ruins being haunted, lured Runox by his curiosity into the city, perhaps proving him no less idiotic than those humans... "They aren't just rumors". Whatever that could be about, has got to prove interesting.

"Hope they can learn something~" A team had been sent to retrieve that technology. Perhaps that could uncover more about the mystery around the events that led to the countless deaths of the citizens. "It'd be a shame if we failed to learn from the faults of those that preceded us..."

Finding a vantage point could grant him a better view of his surroundings, but it would be unwise to climb any high point on the verge of falling down, and so he decided against it. "And it'd be much sorrowful if we ended up meeting the same fate~"

He entered and headed towards the center, where a beacon symbolling humanity's defiance of the dark once shined over the city, keeping it in the light for so long as it stood.

"That's got to be it, so that is where the forces opposing darkness united." He turned around as soon as it was in his sight and grabbed a skeleton for a seat. I wonder what could be going on in there~" He watched the building, awaiting anything to catch his interest. Something has got to catch his interest, even if the mission in there ended without him having to intervene. He kept his hand on his dagger, just in case the need arises for him to pull it. For all he knew, he could be under any and every possible type of threat, and he would have no idea.

With his other hand, he pulled a notebook out of his bag and a pen. On one page, he started writing poetry, and on the other, complex mathematical equations. It may not be common to have interest in both, but that wasn't even a fraction of the diversity of fields he enjoys studying.

"Uhm..." He flipped a few pages to where he kept a reminder of a few items he had been asked to bring at the lab. "Not sure..." Ayden realised he was probably not ready to take on a wraith yet, so he flipped back the the original two pages and continued solving the equations he had.

As Xakshaa began to pray, the room got much much colder. The bones almost seemed to be vibrating. You could see that the room almost seemed brighter after a small blessing. The bones calmed down, and you took them with you. As you entered the streets, which were quiet, you would find a decent spot to bury a body. You could complete your ceremony uninterupted, though the act of setting one spirit to rest seemed to agitate the energy in the area. Maybe it was that, or perhaps the sound of distant trotting. Like the sounds of horses approaching. They werent running, which means that they were very close. So close in fact that they were likely just down the main road.

Upon inspection, Xakshaa would witness five jet-black beings, robed in black hoods riding black horces. yet these horses were not natural. Their manes and tails left a trail of negativity behijnd them, thick and visible, and their eyes were glowing blue. the air was extremely unpleasant with them passing by. Looking at them triggered a rection inside you. Fear. You felt like it shouldnt see you. Or else you were in danger. They didnt seem to be in a rush, but they were heading for the walls away from the tower.

Adian managed to find the proper device, and thanks to the condition of it, he would manage to get it into a semi-functional state. The start up sequence activated conduits, and while many of them sparked out, it seemed like there was enough input to complete the process, the capsule opened, and the machine within began to awaken...

@frogoten

Ayden would begin to write his poetry, not knowing that sitting on a skeleton was innately a bad idea. The bones came to life, and grabbed your arm to pull its jaw to it. And took a bite on your arm. it would have reached for your neck, but it couldnt reach with you sitting on its rib-cage. You are bleeding

"Argh!!!" Runox swiftly drew his arm and pulled the dagger into the skull that bit into his arm. "Dammit!" He pushed the skeleton with enough force to lift himself backwards some distance.

"Indeed, they remain from the great war~" He put his bag down and opened it, looking for a medical kit to bandage his wounds. A shadow left his bag towards the skeleton that attacked him, and by the time it reached, it was a wolf biting on its shoulder.

"Dammit!" There weren't but two animal figurines in his bag. He wasn't prepared, as usual. "Oh well..." He Pulled his dagger again to tear a piece of clothing from his bag and wrapped it around his wound, Stopping the bleeding.

The wolf kicked the skeleton, hopping next to Runox, while its head remained on the skeleton's shoulder till it fell off, then it'd levitate over its neck, rotating in mid air. "Gotta do, let's be careful."

He stood up and turned around slowly, observing the skeletons all over the city. "Our best bet it to leave soon as we find it possible." The closest one was a few metres from him, it was the one that attacked. He expected the other ones to attack him like it did, but in realtiy, he had no idea what would happen afterwards. This was the first time me met the undead.

It was Fear he felt. But not the same kind of fear he felt just a few moments ago. With this apparition, it was more of a jumpscare, and a lingering uneasyness. This time it was different. It was raw and pure primal fear. The fear of the weak in the face of the strong.

As soon as Xaksaa saw the five beings he hid behind the first rock he could find and that was not in their direct way. His hands were trembling as he put them in front of his face to cover the sound of his breathing. He couldnt think completely straight, but the encounter with the apparition kinda accustomed him to this feeling. The only thoughts he had were Dont let them see you and Try to warn others in the area.

He stood there for a few more seconds before he calmed so far down, that he gathered the courage to look around the corner. This is truly a haunted place, I´ve never seen something like them he thought to himself They dont seem to be in rush, so better not rush myself

Xaksaa observed them for a few more seconds to see where they were headed. After that he would look for the best way to sneak to a point where he could see them, but they had a very hard time seeing him, and also as far away frm them as possible, just so he could barely making them out, making sure he would avoid anything, that could make a sound. If he was succesful, he would take out his MHPT. He made sure to disable every option, that could make a noise, disable the camera flashlight and turned the brightness of the screen as low as possible. He would start to film a short video, just a few seconds, and instantly after he got some footage hide to better position. He would wait there until he stopped hearing the footsteps of the horses. In the meantime, he would send the footage to the IAHD (or wherever is the best place to do so), describing what he has seen and where they were headed, so they could send out a warning to everyone, that they need to be careful.

If Xaksaa remained undetected, he would move forward to search for further deep scan points in the direction of the academy library (same stuff I would do mentioned in the post before).

((@Frogoten, you have till tmo to post before he wakes up alone.))

Darkness set upon the dead city landscape, and almost immediately afterwards, a thick fog beset the city gently illuminated by a hardly noticably, unearthly glow. Visibility has been severely hampered on the city streets. The howling of the undead begin to ring out. The ambient sounds should drown out smaller noises.

As Xaksaa began recording the video, he would note that while the quality of the recording was incredible, you werent able to get a clear view of any defining traits aside from the figures themselves. The video was sent successfully just before the fog sent in.

It appears to be undead in nature. The blue glow is indicative of Spectral magic. Its highly possible this is a Wraith of some kind, but we have never noted Wraiths to be horseriders. Those horses look like Nightmares. undead like that dont just appear. Its highly likely that it was the product of high end Necromancy.

Also, be careful, that place becomes much more dangerous at night.

Xaksaa would descend back to ground level. And once down, he noticed that within the fog were pale blue lights moving. These lights you didnt see from the surface, but with fog this thick, you cant really see more than three feet ahead of you at all. The air is latent with a chill, and very moist. You could grasp by the compass on your MHPT which way you should be going. But whether or not you should avoid or inspect these lights is still yet unknown.

with that Adain would rise from the section of floor he had been working at putting the cables he rerouted back int o place as he stood up. Final fabrication has been activated. the last components should be coming from that fabricator. Adain would point to the section of the wall that had a small opening to retrieve the parts. unit activation running on minimal power, but operational. can you ensure this unit is brought to the index foundation.

He saw the message on his MHPT. Wraiths ... high end necromancy ... nope, I will definitely move around them. When Xaksaa moved to the outside again there was already this was fog he was warned about. Is it already so late, I guess I will have to hurry. Then he saw the pale blue lights. Are these the wraiths, they were also kinda blue? Either way, after having first seen an apparition of a woman with clawed out eyes and something that incited such a deep fear he had enough of discovering such things. He looked again at the MHPT to see the direction he had to go and made his way, evading these lights as much as possible. He would move slower than before and rely more on his hearing than his sight, his weapons ready to strike anything than would come to close.

Due to the combined effort of both attacks, the stab and the kick, the skeleton was very weakened. Now lacking an arm and with its skull cracked, it dashed towards Ayden, albeit in a slow pace, trying to get a hold on whatever he could grab from Ayden with its remaining arm. At the moment, only a skeleton rose in alert to the noise. Standing around 90 degrees to the left from the other skeleton, and wielding a short sword, said skeleton rushed towards Ayden at a considerable speed. Compared to the other one that is. It wouldn't take any shortcuts, it just ran towards its target while holding the sword up high, and bringing it down on Ayden once it could reach him.

His wolf charged towards the first skeleton while Ayden shifted attention towards the one with the sword. He held his knife over his head, preparing to block the slash about to cut him in half. And as it drew closer, another statuette would leave the bag and bite into its arm, breaking (or at least cracking) its bones, leaving Runox a chance to disarm it and take the shortsword. "Should do, although I ain't adept in handling them." He'd close the knife and sheathe it in his pocket if he proved successful in doing so, and then would slash, trying to cute the skeleton's skull off. If not, he would hop backwards to avoid the attack he would have failed in stopping.

"Hu-- "Gold", "black", you've got my back!" Taking a few steps from the skeleton and towards the center of the city, he gave the orders and used what he could of his senses to guide his summonings into fulfilling them. Hearing was more dependable than vision with the darkness that had fallen and the fog covering the city all of a sudden. He tried using his MHPT to light the way, but still couldn't see past a few feet in any direction. Except...

"What's that?"

He stepped clumsily towards it, a glow of pale blue in the distance, arousing his every instinct to learn, leaving a smirk on his face, and leaving his curiosity running wild inside a heart burning in hunger of knowledge. "Change of plans, there's somethin' I needa' investigate." Once both threats were neutralized, the two animals would follow him as he headed towards the lights. But for now, only the third followed.

The closer he got, the brighter his smile got as well as the glow in the distance and in his eyes. His thoughts went through every possible scenario, and his excitement grew with each. "Could they have recovered the techno--"

And then he suddenly stopped.

From his angle now, he could see clearer. The light was emitted from three separate sources. And they were moving.... Towards him. "Dammit! I better not be spotted~" He turned off his MHPT and rushed towards the closest object he could hide behind.

"Perfect!" It could be unwise to watch from such little distance, but vision would be unclear from any further. It meant that fog wouldn't prove much of an obstacle for "them", but the same could be said for Runox, he would be able to see clearly what it is glowing as it draws close enough to him.

Even should he end up caught in the worst case scenario, he would have his animals to help him. The statuettes wouldn't hold together with the souls channelled through them for much longer, though~

Xaksaa would for the most part be able to evade the wraiths witha wide margin. In the few instances where he wasnt able to stay a good six feet from them, he might have had to get closer. Which was risky, but thankfully, they didnt see him. he however caught a glimpse of the source. Behind the veil of white fog you could see tattered cloth floating behind thin, bony arms, and a hood covering a face you couldnt see from that angle. You could see a sword in one hand, and a lantern burning a pale blue flame in the other. Damage Imminent would let you know immediately that your initial intuition was completely accurate, and you should avoid them. At literally any cost.

On his way to the Eruvian library, he found a good location for the Deep Scan, and the percentage was raised to 47%. It requested that you repeat the scan, and once you did, it went up to 48%. Seems it needed to confirm the resolution to a conflicting data point. The way to the Library was straightforward, and so you managed to get there pretty quick without any further distractions. The place was huge, and mostly in tact. There were plenty of books, but it would become obvious that finding anything not currently destroyed by rainfall and mold was going to be quite the chore. Thankfully the odds of success were much higher considering the library had fifty floors above ground, and fifty below.

With his followup attacks, Ayden was able to get rid of the first skeleton. However, the second one barely withstood the slash. Sharing a similar fate as its fallen comrade, the skeleton tried to chase after Ayden, slowly shambling towards him and reaching with its remaining arm. Ayden's creatures delivered a finishing blow to the final skeleton before it could move any closer, however.

Now, when he noticed the scary presences, he did good in attempting to hide. As they were indeed dangerous presences. How much? His Danger Imminent let him know very well that he needed to steer clear of these creatures. Sadly for him, he and his creatures were noticed by these presences. Ayden could feel a cold shiver running down his spine as the creatures slowly approached his hiding spot...
Suddenly, the presences disappeared, as if they were never there. But that didn't seem to be the case, as in the blink of an eye, Ayden found himself in a different location. The inside of what seemed to be an abandoned office building, it was emptied, other than a tumbled cubicle here and there. Of course, just like everything else in Eru, it was noticeably abandoned, and therefore, worn out by tragedy and time, yet it didn't look unstable enough to collapse. Through what remained of the glass panels that separated the workers from the outside, Ayden would notice that he now found himself a couple stories above the ground.
Other than that, Ayden was on his own... Yet for some reason, he felt observed. And quite intently, at that.

Xaksaa sighed. Seems like I survived the first part of this mission Xaksaa stretched his Arms and looked around him. He finally was at the library.

After having big luck with dodging these wraiths the fear finally subsided. Not completely, since he still had to get back, but at least his hands werent trembling anymore. On his way to the library he found another deep scan spot, and from there on it was easy to get to his goal. Even if it were just small informations, he wrote again to the IAHD, what he has seen close up from the wraiths, the bony body, the blue lantern, wielding the sword and so on. Maybe knowing this the people there would know better how to handle them.

Now at his first goal, he stopped sneaking around, he wanted to relax a little bit. He still would hear for any suspicious noises, but he didnt care at the moment, if he would do small ones himself.
Sooooooo, where to start ... This library was freakishly huge. He had never seen one that big ... and he only saw the outside of it, in the underground probably were more stuff. So he needed a plan how to search for the city maps. Probably the best way was to search for some kind of guide for him, a pamphlet, a board with a map or signs hanging (or lying on the ground because they counldnt hold themselves to the ceiling anymore) around. Some kind of clue to narrow his search area would be nice, so he didnt search aimlessly.

If he found something, he would be on his way to search the area. If he had to go upstairs, he would be more careful moving around, looking for places that seemed like they could crash down any moment because of his weight and if possible avoid them.

Adain would see the unit begin to function it reported its diagnostics aloud proclaiming it was operational. without really waiting for a response and expecting partial credit for its recovery Adain would begin leaving the room. unit is operational more repairs cannot be done at this time. insufficient time and materials. returning to salvage operations. with that Adain would leave the room pushing past Abi and begin examine the other labs he had marked for search. he would have to note the dangers of the facility and that it was strange he hadn't gotten any updates for salvage priority from the index foundation. so having no idea the real value of anything he saw he woudl take anything meeting certain arbitrary requirements he had set. anything he didn't take he woudl make sure to document for future reference or recreation.

Once he left, Adian returned to the Weapons labs, specifically chamber E. Where they were experimenting on Kaaos Tech. Immideiately he recieved a text before he could do anything,
"Do NOT try and shrink down the Red Crystals. Nothing can survive it when they explode. If you do salvage them, make sure they incur no damage. A chip in their surface could spell your death."

The devices in question look like cages built around them with wierd tech on the inside. Many of them look different, and there were thirteen prototypes, and so it was impossible to infer what each one does. Good assumptions might be power cores, Bombs, or maybe stasis for the shards? Apparently they are extremely dangerous, so choose your response.

The Library, Xaksaa would find, was very ware of its size. And on every single floor was a map of the entire building. Even with 100 floors, this structure appeared to have 4 floors dedicated to everything. of course, with all the damage, you would have to visit quite a few maps to get a detailed picture of the facility. But once you did, you would find just how meticulously organized it was. Each floor was a genre and/or category, and the tower was divided into Quadrants facing the cardinal directions. These quadrants are the same going down, and serve as additional organization. You would also learn of another 50 floors below B50, that was Labeled A1-A50. Standing for Archived Basement. Where they likely kept all reserves and sensitive subjects. Though for some reason, it looks much more protected than the rest of the building. Defended, and well built. This place was monumentally huge. Seemed the city was hoping to preserve history within its walls. There was a large skeleton impaled to a wall, forming a t-pose on F3. Its bones seemed to be carved with symbols and patterns, and red jewels were socketed into its eyes.. Your target was B32 Q3. Labeled as Geography-3, Land Maps of Anthras.

Adain would receive the message and be rather confused. if his link were truly live this entire time and they could see all he had done and perhaps herd what he said why had they not helped or gave any instruction earlier in the salvage process. he would continue this line of thinking and would then consider it to be an automated response for such volatile materials. warning understood, however, transport of such volatile materials goes against my objectives, perhaps revisiting this location woudl be possible at a later point in salvage operations however at this point recovery of these objects is not priority. he would take several good looks at everything in this room but he would do his best to disturb or tamper with nothing wanting to avoid any detonations.

Once the room was cataloged Adain would consider returning to base with his current gains no doubt the alarms from before would complicate matters however he still had yet to locate a single exit other then the one he used to enter. So he would continue his search of the lab areas until he located another exit or the security office to allow him to see the current state of defenses and or surveillance to allow him to plan a better exit strategy.

Huh, so there really are more floors in the basement ... well, i just hope i dont have to go to deep down there, ive got a bad feeling ... Roaming some floors to find where he had to go something interesting catched his eyes, a big skeleton, with jewels as his eyes. Hmmm, if even bandits wont touch these jewels i guess it would be a bad idea getting them for myselves. After all this haunted crap i already encountered i probably shouldnt mess too much with things even untouched by the lawless. Roaming a little bit more he managed to find where he had to go and would be on his way there.

On his way towards one of the five exits, Adian would notice a patch of the hallways that seemed to be overgrown with these strange, black roots. They were still, and they spanned about six meters of this long hallway. The whole hallway was empty for the most part, but you could see these roots likely came from downstairs. They clung to each surface like a vine. To the knowledgable, this was Ebonroot. Whether or not it was safe to pass over was unknown.

Xaksaa would find that There were a lot of maps in this area. Though few of them were readable, and fewer still were useful. It would take hours of sifting before you managed to find a single high-quality map of Eru. A grand map of the city, big parchment that for the most part was still readable. There were many maps that were salvagable, but they didnt partain to the mission. But even so, they along with probably hundreds of books here remain unclaimed. This place makes you wonder how long before nothing is left? He would note there were a LOT of bodies at the bottom. Just looking down you could see them. That would raise a question though, where was the light coming from down there? The small mountain of bones seemed to be inanimate. Truly dead.

As the wraiths approached, Runox could feel his excitement dying off and his feet getting cold. His grin partially faded but still remained over his lips, his instincts were defying one another and his eyes wandered around the blue light, getting lost in the glow as the creatures of the dark drew closer. He now had a tough decision to make. He could only guarantee either his survival, to some extent at least, or the satisfication he'd feel in standing ground, facing the monsters, and observing their behaviour.

"Eheh... Come at me~"

Soon as he could get enough of a glimpse to remember their appearances later, he closed his eyes and let them cross the distance between them, depending on his ears to alert him when that distance is little enough. However, be was surprised to find that's not how it went.

"Hu?--" His eyes opened to see he was no longer in the center of the ruined city. He quick scanned the place as he stood up, nothing out of the ordinary. He couldn't sense any threat... Not to his life at least. "Am I under some illusion?..." His grin returned as he went through some possibilities, ranging from fun to more so. "Gotta figure that out!"

Fortunately, the place wasn't on the brink of collapsing, as Ayden wouldn't have noticed in the middle of his excitement as he explored it. He checked the cubicles for anything, opening the drawers if he found any. Who knows what he could find.

If the answer turned out to be nothing, he would just leave the office and try find his way out of the building. "Hope that's not all~" He knew for sure that wasn't all. His gut feeling still alerted him of a danger. "Can't be, anyway. These things have gotta be after me still."

The trouble coming here was worth it. He sighed holding the Map he found above his head. It took a very long time finding one of these, searching for more than this would probably be useless. So I guess the scanning is the only thing left to do.

He would take his time before leaving. He would wander the library, taking some time to read some of the books with an interesting title. When not reading, he would stand in some places and try to imagine, what the place was like, before it got destroyed. How many students tried to learn something new, kids looking for nice picture books, researchers doing their research, librarians try to find this one book that somehow got lost in one of the many shelves. And what it may have been like if he was there at the time.

Wandering the library two things didnt leave his mind. This one skeleton on the F-Floor, and the mysterious light. He tried to ignore these thoughts by flipping through some books It would be dangerous to find out what makes them so mysterious, you already nearly met your death today ... But with time his curioussness grew. Maybe he subconsciously took more time to leave, because he didnt want to ignore these things.

Wandering the library, deep in his thoughts he looked up. He was again at the skeleton, the third time already. He didnt realize "his feet" would carry him here so often when deep into his thoughts.

He looked at it for while. The carvings on its bones were really nice and these red jewels ... there had to be a reason, why noone took them. Or maybe all of them had the fear something would happen when they took them ... maybe there was nothing wrong with taking them ... just because of some carvings it doesnt have to be something evil ... but the fact it was t-posing skeleton made him somehow uneasy. He remebers that he read something about the T-Pose ... that it had something to do with asserting dominance, but he wasnt sure.

He gave up. In his subconcious he already decided to do something with this thing, so why not do it now, it would bother him otherwise for a while. He would first inspect the carving more meticoulously, looking for some clues what they might be about, taking pictures of them ... maybe he could ask in one of the organizations what they were about. Then he searched for a stick. He didnt want to touch this skeleton or the jewels. But he wanted to try if he could get them out of the socket. When finding a long and stable enough branch he woul try to get the jewels out from the distance, while trying that the skeleton would fall down from the wall.

The Ebonroot stirred a little. Writhing more than usual as you passed over it. But the inate malice of the creature seemed at a loss. It instead seemed confused rather than vicious. And so, Adian was easily able to pass over it with little difficulty. He almost tripped, which may have spelt a much different reaction. but he held his footing, and made it past. On the end of the Hallway, he would find a blast door sealed shut, with a basic lever control next to it. Judging by the red light there above it, the electrical systems here seemed functional. Turning the switch would successfully open the door. Adian would observe very little, save for the intense fog and the nighttime darkness. The constant screams of the undead were drowning out most small noises. You could safely walk around without fear of footsteps alerting the enemies. Though the same cant be said for the other forms of alerting.

Quickly, hide. They're here. A whisper, plain as day as you looked at the skeleton. It had no otherworldly tone, nor did it carry any particular emotion. It sounded like there was someone by your side, and they just said those words. The only strange thing about those words was that there was nobody beside you. And the only sounds other than the disembodied voice... was a door opening two levels below you. Strangely enough, the library looks different now. More cluttered, but less of a mess. There was fresh debris, but most of the books were in perfect condition. The sounds were drawing closer. They sounded like they were coming up the stairs. Your options were limited to behind a chunk of metal, to underneath a fallen bookshelf.

She just looks at him. "Black Beast? What? they have been dead for a very very long time.." She tries to ask the person what to do but he was gone by now. "Dam..ummm.. it been over three hundred years since they died out.." She had her sword ready but knew her powers would not work at all. She back up to get some room. "I'm descendent of two heroes that fight the beast."

Adain would open the door thankful it didn't sound an alert to attract more un-dead. he would begin to slowly recon and catalog the area near the exit to map it for any following recovery teams. Once his map had updated to a suitable amount he would start making his way slowly through the fog towards the ERU walls. he maintained his normal amount of stealth doing his best to avoid any large scale encounters. however if the opportunity presented its self to dispatch a lone or duo of un-dead depending on location Adain may attack them.

Xaksaa quickly drew his daggers out of surprise and looked around him. He suddenly heard a voice out of nowhere and around him was noone. After the surprise wore out he noticed the different look of the library An illusion? Of how it looked in earlier times? What is the meaning of this? He also noticed the sound of the doors below him and was quickly reminded of what the voice said. He looked around where he could hide. Behind the metalchunk or under the bookshelf? Probably under the bookshelf, if what ever comes moves around the probability is high that it comes around the chunk. Distraction? Better not, they may not know that im here. While finishing his thoughts he already sneaked towards one of the bookshelves. On his way he quickly picked up some books if there were some lying around or picked some from the bookshelv he moved to. At the bookshelf, he would move to the darkest corner, placing the books before him so it was harder to see him, stashing everything away that could reflect light, made sure his MHPT was in silentmode and closing his eyes just so much he could barely see outside, so his eyes wouldnt reflect light either.

As Adian made sure to get a lot of footage of the exit and potential landmarks, he left the area. His CSCU wasnt quite full yet, but had gotten some good things. As he walked through the streets he would encounter the pale lights in the fog. These lights roaming the streets aimlessly, the sound of chains railing behind them. He would also find a small group three Skeletons standing still, just howling into the night. There was another group down the same path if he ignored those. But one of them was equipped in armor. Further down he street was a collection of skulls just rolling around. About a Dozen of them.

The bones were still there, and as you hid, a man in some pretty fancy occult robes walked in, with two Lich floating at his sides. The bones this time were active, as he rose up they began growling at him. he man spoke to the skeleton with a commanding tone. "I achieved the impossible." The man sits a black book onto a table. "I brought you back from the Dread Lord's blade. Now you WILL serve me." The Skeleton did nothing but unleash a roar of fire on this man, who deflected it with his own magic. Once again, below you the sound of a door opening. But this time it sounded like it burst open. Up the gap came two people dressed in armor. One had feathery wings, and the other had two glowing orbs at his hands and feet. They both carries rather large guns. Then up from the stairs came five more soldiers and what appeared to be their leader. "Malak Lucius III, you are wanted by the Apex Company for consorting with the darkness." The man took a moment and nodded. "I understand." You could see a shadow emerging around him, and the air became thick with a new fear. As if pure evil was drowning you. The flying units fell out of the air, liekly to the bottom, and two of the soldiers fell to their knees. The Lich, both of them, unleashed a green stream of energy on the other two standing soldiers, seeming to drain them of their life. The commander, who was struggling, managed to grab one of their fire arms and fire it, putting a pretty large bullet through the Necromancer's chest. You could tell because of the massive hole where his lungs and heart used to be. The downed soldiers, not the flying ones, shot the Lich multiple times. The Necromancer dropped his dagger as he fell, and the Lich dropped their staffs. The Necromancer was being dragged out of the building by the three remaining soldiers and the commander. You probably had the time to grab something before the commander comes back.

Dread Lords Blade, what is that?, he listened to what the mysterious figure had to say. And thank god that I didnt try something absolutely stupid with this skeleton, i could be roast beef by now. ... Malak, never heard this name, probably should remember it to check it later. And is he the reason these wraiths are moving around here. Or not? This kinda seemed like an illusion with the different look of the library. Then the fear came. Xaksaa was by now kinda used to deal with fear. He was not unphased by it, but he managed to further concentrate on this situation. While the fight broke out Xaksaa wondered how he could get out of this situation safe. Should he show himself, na, that would probably mean a bullet into his head, maybe he wasnt supposed to see all of this. Then the fight was already over, the liches and the necromancer dead and dragged out of the library. His chance to escape. He would get out of his hiding spot. [i]I´m alone it seems ... [i] He quickly sneaked to the table where the necro put down his book. He looked up to the skeleton I will take it with me, if itss ok with you, dont know what thesse apexs guyss will do with thiss book, but it iss probably in better handss with ssomeone else. I will make ssure noone usses it to control you, i wont, ssince i probably would be fried to a crissp by you beforehand., Xaksaa whispered to it while picking up the book, his hands covered in cloth so he wouldnt touch it directly. If posssible i will come back later, I wanna know what you are and what thiss iss all about. With this Xaksaa quickly sneaked up the stairs bringing as much distance between him and the apex soldiers as possible. When he thinks he is far enough away to dos so, he would lay down some false trails (when its dusty slithering in some other ways or knocking down some books here and there, that kind of trails), search for the best hiding spot he could find and then look at the cover at the book if it has some kind of title.

The illusion(?) collapsed as you grabbed the book. You could tell the skeleton was looking right at you, and now the multi-century old bloodstain made so much more sense. Then something might have struck your mind. The book was still in your hand. Everything else was gone, even the bookshelf you hid beneath. But the book was still there. As you looked up to speak to the skeleton, it responded. "Of course... But can you translate it...? I could... But in return you must finish what that mortal started... Free me from my death... In return, I have much to give in Life..." What power this entity must hold to bring something from the past into the present. To warp reality at will like that... How long has it been mustering its strength. "A wager little snake... I wager that you will bring me to life... And i will show you the words of the Book of Black Genesis... That which can undo the irreversible..."

Adain would proceeded with a risk assessment of the possible targets, the first group perhaps was a good choice however 3 was to many he concluded to defeat without making a high enough level of noise to alert reinforcements. the second group as he moved on contained a MAJOR unknown with the armor most likely an even stronger variant he would not want to mess with it having not tested himself against a normal kind. the third encounter was the biggest unknown of them all as well as being the largest group he would unfortunately have to avoid them also.

So with that concluded Adain would keep making his way back to his exit point hopeing to find something of value along the way to fill his remaining space, it was unfortunate the others had shown up at the underground lab Adain did not wish to deal with them at this time, as well as the un-dead he thought were on their way to swarm the lab had not arrived, in fact there wasn't a single trance any had been alerted that was strange.

Uuuuh, I dont know if I like that ... Xaksaa thought to himself.

Well, it sseemss like we have now time to talk. Firsst of all hi, Im Xaksaa, nice to meet you. And who are you? I think before I releasse ssomeone from death into the world, who a powerful necromancer tried to ressurrect that iss accussed of conssorting with the darknesss, I should atleasst know hiss name. Alsso two thingss. How do I know you are not ssome ssuper evil entity, hence the quesstion about your name, that wantss to do a lot of evil sstuff and may even lie to me. I dont know if it wass ssmart of you to show me the passt, im pretty ssusspiciouss now of you. Ssecond, even if I should free you and get the power of thiss fancy book, how do I know thiss iss not ssorted under conssorting with the darknesss. Im not really into getting hunted by Apex, or ssomeone elsse for that matter.

While asking these questions Xaksaa would search on his MHPT for 4 things, Malak Lucius III (what his goals were, how he consorted with the darkness, something like this), the Black Book of Genesis (what is this thing, are you getting hunted for using it), the dread lords blade and, if he told his name, the name of the skeleton (looking for a connection there, to see if he told the truth).
He would also keep one eye on the skeleton, just in case it decides to let loose some more of the fire breath, always ready to dodge.

Adian would here a series of explosions three roads east of him, or about seven miles. A bunch of lights suggest that the wall is getting attacked by something. Thankfully its far enough away to not be a problem and actually be helpful to you. Then, there was a deep inhale near you, and you could see the fog move. And then ina sudden gust, a section of the fog was blown away. The smell could only be described as horrific, the worst dragonbreath anyone could possibly have. But it wasnt dangerous. The source might be though. it was a massive demon, about twelve feet tall, carrying a massive battle axe, that is taller and bigger than you are. Its eyes were burning orange and it had brown fur. Its canine teeth were long enough to protrude from its mouth. You didnt have enough time to hide, but that was okay. it saw you anyway. It didnt seem too interested in you. It glanced at you, then kept walking. As the fog close back in. it blew it away again in front of it, and demolished a few skeletons. The wall wasnt too much further, and had an exit at a higher elevation that wouldnt be too hard to reach by climbing.

"Hmm... I am Hades... I was a Guardian... What these people called a God... I ruled the domains of fire and punishment... Until the darkness came... I kept evil in check by flaying it raw for eons... My brothers and sisters and kin fought the final battle for the world and failed... Then the Darkness descended upon this land... Malak Lucius was a man crazed with power. Believed that he could enslave anything hung between life and death... But you cannot enslave a God... Even now, I strangle his wicked soul and char it with unquenchable flames... Eternal pain, for an Evil that plagued the earth... I am a testament to the impossible... I will dive into oblivion and pull the souls of my kin from the empty beneath... Restore the forever lost, and undo the irreversible..."

Records on Malak Lucius the Third were sketchy due to a argument between Apex and the Index Foundation. But all accounts suggests he was the Grandson of Malak lucius, a powerful Kaaos Wielder, who managed to give the Apex Company hell for seventy years. They never caught Lucius nor found his body. Lucius III however, was slain in the Eruvian ruins shortly after their rediscovery. Trialed in absence and convicted with Nyctomancy. Oddly enough, the longer you look at the article on the Book of Black Genesis, the less there seems to be, until even the records of it are gone and you cnt remember what you even saw. However, policies of the Apex Company remain viewable. Since the rise of the IAHD, the Apex Company have no longer fought against anything dark. The name Hades is only really mentioned in the books published by Venus and Arachne. They describe him as arrogant, stubborn, and overly righteous. A major prick. They also mention several times when Hades had saved their lives. The final Aetherial Battle, Venus writes;

"When the Grim of the Dreaded Lords rose up and rained terror from above and below, its kin called upon their weapons. Hades began cutting down the lesser Gods. For a long time nobody knew why he had betrayed us. It wasnt until I learned just how powerful those weapons were, that i realized he did it to save us from a fate worse than Death, possibly even to carry on the fight, should we come back to life. He and the major Deities stayed behind and fought, I saw the fire in his eyes fade as I fell from on high. Olympus had fallen, hope was lost. I could do nothing but watch disaster consume this world, and worlds beyond."

Every mention of a Dread Lords Blade is soon followed by very grim depictions of a total death. That their weapons didnt just kill you, but they also killed your soul. Every article mentions that Death by a Dread Blade was the ultimate death, and nothing could save you. Your soul disappears, and all futures of you with it. That certainly makes Hades an interesting specimen.

Adain would capture the footage of what he could only describe as CRITICAL THREAT. it would stand motionless as the threat stared back at Adain then began to move on, Adains entire body would release with tensions enjoying the feeling of not facing destruction today. he continued his way towards the wall working his way up a fairly sturdy fire escape to the roof of a nearby building making his way over rooftops as he approached the exit. from his vantage point he looked around to make one final sweep of the area mapping it for future reference and make his way through the superstructure of the wall towards the forest below returning to the Index foundation.

Adain is to attempting/has left the area post at index foundation to follow.

When everything that makes a soul has been burnt, chipped, cut, torn, or ripped off, all that is left is the energy of a soul. The essence that powered their existence. Their Animus... If you were to make Animus... You would have to commit great evil to do it... Instead... I would barter Death for it... Death or his children... The Leader of Lost Souls... Animus can be stored in fire... Two Lanterns will carry the animus... And the fire fueled by Animus is everlasting... Remember, pure Animus, White and Black. That is very important..."

@Raiores

Looking down, he could see so many phantoms, but their movement was erratic random. They were wandering, and it didnt appear as if anything was searching for something. Apparently, you got a lucky break today.

Within the various drawers and containers, you would find old, rusted, hardly identifiable chunks of metal. he place doesnt look like its been touched before, so you never know what is hidden in the building. Keeping that in mind, you pressed on, and found a bizzarre looking golden ball with what looks to be a giant ruby on the inside. It as decorated in patterns and whatno, but the object had no observable function save a glorified paperweight. Even so, in these ruins, you never know what powers seemingly 'mundane' objects might have. Just because of the way it looks, you might find someone willing to buy it for a fair price. Otherwise, it might also be worth it to get the object appraised.

Wish me Luck!

With this, Xaksaa would wrap the book in some clean cloth and stash it in his bag. After that, he would look at his MHPT and think about how to best proceed with the scannings and if there are more places, where he could find some maps. Maybe the marketplace? There could be a tourist information with some maps they may have sold ... they are probably already destroyed, but wouldnt hurt to make sure.

He would wave his goodbye to Hades and concentrate again on his surroundings, leaving the library and the academy grounds. Since it is still night, he would again move slowly and carefully to dodge any danger. His next goal would be the outer Rings of the city. Estimating the width of his previous scans he probably could finish this job with 2 more scans there. He tried to take a Route there, that would also let him pass through the marketplace, so he could check, if there is some kind of tourist information.

Hades simply lay their unmoving as Xaksaa left, dearly hoping that this one would complete the ritual.

As Xaksaa weaved his way through the City, he made a misstep. He had crossed to far into the light of one of the wandering Wraiths. The specter began approaching him, and now it was clearly visible. The face of a long dead man, little rotting flesh still clings to is muscless bones. Its wide eye sockets were not as empty as one would suggest a "Hollowed" Wraith would be. In its eyes, you could see a spark of what could only be described as a memory. But if you looked at it, it was painful. It was covered in black tattered robes.

It was closing on you. In its left hand, you would see the source of the metallic sound, a old silver lantern chained to its wrist with a spike that goes through its wrist. And in its right hand was a rusted flamberge. Though it was rusted, it looked pretty sharp. The creature was slow moving, but it didnt have to be fast. It raised its arm and brought down the sword with surprising strength and speed.

@Zelda102

There was nothing stopping her from leaving, and as she exitted, she would observe the thick fog that had fallen.

He left the library and moved through the city. Nothing could be seen, nothing could be heard, probably because of the fog. Xaksaa started thinking about what happened and slowly he stopped being cautious. A mistake. The sound of the approaching figure kicked him out of his thoughts. First Xaksaa was a bit irritated, but then he realized that this was not a good situation for him. The Wraith was approaching him, and the sight of it stunned him for a second. He had to suppress the urge to vomit.

He could break free from his paralysis, but in the meantime the wraith already was so close that it started his first attack. His mind stopped working and his instincts took over. Blocking was no option, this thing clearly was too strong for him, but Xaksaa was confident in his agility and tried to dodge the first attack by moving sideways.

If he was successful, Xaksaaa would first watch the movement of the wraith. If it would instantly swing his sword sideways from the ground, he would dodge backwards. In this case the momentum of the sword should give him a bit of time before the next attack and he would run towards some of the buildings. If it takes it time to raise the sword again, he would instantly run. He would try to run between some of the buildings, so the wraith would loose track of him.

She stops after working on getting out and look at the fog. "Hmmm.. How long was I down there?" She was not sure and try to see and hear anything she could. She knew there were undead around here but was not sure where they are and this fog was not helping. She was glad to have on her pelts so she could stay warm and dry. She readies her sword and her spell. She would stick close to the building as she edges around to its side no need to leave her open to back attacks if she did not have to. She would stay as quiet as she could as she did this and stop often to listen for anything for a bit before moving some more. She would be ready to act as soon as she felt she was in danger.

As Xaksaa dodged to the right, the best possible move in the situation, the blade would hit the ground witha loud metallic ring. A small ting of pain would indicate that while you avoided certain Death, the monster still nicked you with its blade where your tail still was. it cut through the tough scales easily. Thankfully this happened in a less than vital spot, and the only injury was a small flesh-wound. A little blood drips out, but no more than a scrape or paper-cut.

The specter obviously knew what it was doing with that sword of its. And when its blade hit the ground, it immediately swung up diagonally. Even with your dodge, it nicked you again, this time in the chest. Damn that blade was long. It lowered its weapon as you tried to run, but even through this fog, and in between the buildings, you could feel its thick eerie presence, as if it was gazing directly through your soul. Then, the sound was much closer than it should have been.

Turning to the sounds source, of chains rattling, you would see it immediately behind you with its blade raised high in the air. But it was frozen. Well, not necessarily frozen. it was struggling to move. And even its lantern arm was pulled back as a light began to appear on its back. A golden light, that took a semi-humanoid shape. Its light was warm, and it shone bright, banishing the fog, and enough of these wraiths that you could hear their audible screams. It disappeared, leaving you alone with the strangely unfamiliar quiet. The fog up to two hundred feet away was clear. But even from here you could see it was slowly rolling back in. It wouldnt take long before the area is once again enveloped and those things return.

The moment you stepped outside you felt like you were in danger. It was dark, and a pale fog had covered the ground, illuminated gently by the omnious blue glow of the lanterns in the mist. Even if she hadnt seen the creatures, it was obvious that she should avoid this light from its unnatural blue color. In the distance a small pillar of golden light shown briefly, and disappeared. As you trailed the city, something happened.

Something of a giant thud very close to you, and a massive shadow hit the ground next to you. Not a Spawn, but rather, a huge shape in the fog. The gust from the impact blew the veil away just enough that you could make out the figure of a twelve foot tall monster carrying a battle axe laying on the ground. Was a Minotaur of sorts, with blood red eyes. it glanced at you, and got back up. As the fog closed in, you could see what it was fighting. A giant made from what looked to be a few thousand bones.

Bit her lip a bit. It was an undead but there are good ones but still being here it not as likly to be good. Was the other one hurt? She did not know to do but she would try to help the one with the axe. She made her gauntlets apper and charge at the one made of bone. She not sure why but she did. As she dose she would get her healing spell ready.
She would unleash a fury of powerful punches ate the one made of bone but still keep her gurd up. If the bone one did not say anything and the other did not attack her she would keep helping the one with the axe. However if the bone one said something depending on what said and the axe one actions she my changes sides. If all go well and the one with the axe seams like the one she need to help she would heal it. She hold off in till they both need it if she could.

Inventory: Black Book of Genesis

His heart pounding, Xaksaa just stood there. His shoulders dropped a bit and his back straightened, because just a second ago he was cowering in fear, seeing death before him. The wraith and the fog were gone thanks to a golden light in a familiar shape.

Could it be? ... Is it really possible to save these souls?

It took him some seconds, before he turned away, his mind still kinda blank not really knowing what just happened, even for the moment forgetting the pain of his scratches. He again made his way to the outer rings, trying first to get some distance in between him and the place he was safe from, this time being extra careful to not run again into one of these wraiths. When he felt he was relatively safe again, he took out his MHPT and wrote a Message to the Pantheon of the New Gods, since they would be most interested in this kinda thing.

Here is Xaksaa Xonzez from the Wandering Cartographer Guild. I just witnessed, that a soul from a person I buried and sought salvation by praying for it saved me before a wraith killed me. I think it is possible to save more of these souls. I ask of you to put out a mission to save them if one is in the area either way. I know there are a lot of them, but one by one we can decrease this number and may be able to make this place a little better. I will try to help, when I have nothing of importance to do. Thank you for hearing me out.

Now he needed a break from all of this. Xaksaa tried to finish his scans in the outer rings as quickly as possible without attractiong more danger.

Thank you Xaksaa. Currently, our Ladies are all preoccupied at the moment, but may we inquire which of the goddesses you would like to receive the message?

With all that was happening, Xaksaa managed to make it to the next location suitable for scanning. He found a house there, old, littered with bones as is Eruvian tradition at this point. Scanning here would render a single extra scan needed before you have what you need. Maintaining stealth, you managed to arrive there. One a particularly treacherous side of town. Simply being here is a roll of the dice, but thankfully, fortune continue to smile on him. He could get the scan. If he has any other business here, might be a good idea to go ahead and get it done. once you get out of the city, might not want to return.

Abi was apparently eager to get into a fight, and then went after the Bone Giant. An enemy she was vastly under-prepared for. Her strikes did little more than break a few bones. But considering the scale and material of the enemy, that was comparable to a papercut. The Bone Giant couldnt have been much more than just simply annoyed. It raised its foot, and kicked with a force that would end up breaking three of Abi's ribs instantly, and give her a consuciion when she hit the nearest wall. Further intervention in this battle of titans was up to her. She did possess holy magic after all. But this thing was really big. And from the pain in her... well, her everything, it was also pretty damn strong.

Abi

Did not realize at first that they were so huge. She was just under 10 foot and still, she was small to them. This was somewhat new to her and could tell they are far too much for her. Even with her holy weapons over her arms, it did nothing to the monster. She ran off and found a place to hide as she activated her holy sun and began to heal up. She still keeps an eye out for anymore and still did not like this fog. She needs to let them know about the big monster that lives here and let them send some stronger or something. Thank to her sun lower and weaker undead should not be able to get close to her as she heals up but she will still be ready for a fight .

Inventory: Black Book of Genesis

Xaksaa´s face lit up when he saw the 100% on his MHPT after finishing his last scan. His job was done, he was happy, but tired. Good thing he took the last scan in the Outer Rings. He thought about Hades and the Book, that he will come back here again for this job, but for now he will try to get stronger.
Taking the shortest route Xaksaa would move to the outer Walls, slip through one of the many cracks to leave the area and move back to the wandering cartographers.
