Seems like you have a generally positive impression so far ^^
I saved up Tsuki ga Kirei for marathoning so i hope it gets better since your first impression here is that it is boring...

Do you prefer anime related-questions or non-anime questions? :P

So it seems!! I'm honestly a little threatened by the fact you're caught up on Natsume Yuujinchou and I'm not (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖
Yeah it's going pretty good so far, I don't think I'll be dropping anything as of yet
Honestly I feel like you'd like it more than I do so it's probably fine. Like, I'm not actually too big a fan of romance but I think you are? At least more so than me? It's just mostly been them being awkward with each other with some innocent, cute romance cliches, which is all well and good. I just don't find it particularly entertaining. I've seen some spoilers for episode 3 though so I think It'll pick up the pace soon. ( ⓛ ω ⓛ *)

Definitely anime related ones!!! I love talking about anime since it's basically my sole hobby at this point, but I only have my best friend and mom to talk about anime to. Only mom usually doesn't wanna let me talk her ear off about anime since she doesn't really understand and my best friend basically already knows everything (that or I don't wanna tell her in the first place because sometimes she has lame reactions and I don't want lame reactions.) So I have all this anime in my head but not a lot of outlets. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖

lol allright then...

Natsume is pretty nice and one of the better episodical shows so catching up with it pays off. I watched basically only Natsume for about two months until i was up to date. The only exception were the three airing anime i watched last season.

Seems like you started Baccano this week. How are you liking it so far? Have you figured out the story yet? It comes together like puzzle pieces and it has so many fantastic characters o.O.

Woah, glad you like it!! I can partially blame why I haven't been caught up on my best friend, since she's the one who made me start Natsume, and she insisted we watch the 4th season together. But we never actually did that because we have other things to watch together too and she only just recently allowed me to watch it by myself (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ It's also partially because I am very invested in the characters and the end of every season leaves me damaged. Like I finished season 4 and was immediately like "well time to not touch this for a few months"

I'm liking it, I was actually just about to watch some more. Uh. No. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ It's all still pretty disconnected for me as of yet. I feel like this is something I'll have to rewatch to get a firm grasp on what's going on (which is cool with since Baccano is cool.) It's very entertaining but I'm not too attached to any of the characters so far.
Edit: I changed my mind Miria and Isaac are my favorites lol, they're so cute. Also very interested in learning more about Claire. ( ⓛ ω ⓛ *)

I have, but not officially. Mostly because I do not follow through with things at all and I am a fickle creature. Also because I feel like the deadlines would stress me out. And I think it only counts for the challenge if you finish the entire season? So if I had deadlines on something I didn't wanna watch I'd get stressed out and quit. But I think the concept of it is cool so last year I took the thing and filled it out and got like halfway before I decided I didn't wanna do that anymore. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖

Yes and no?? I mean, I've heard good things about it, but also I've heard it was a trashy ecchi harem disguised as a deep show. Which I don't really believe since it has such a good score and a person who's opinion I trust vouched for it, but the only things I actually really know from the show are the kitty lady and the incest-y toothbrush scene?? So that's not really working in it's favor? (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I've also seen some pretty gorey stuff though and I dig that so that's cool. I think I will but I have mixed feelings for the moment. (If/when I do watch please help me figure out what order to do it in there is a lot.)

hmm on the lowest level you have to complete 21 challenges over the course of the year and when you watch what is entirely up to you. well, however haha

looool yeah that toothbrush scene from the 2nd season (Nisemonogatari) is kinda (in)famous and the catgirl is just "temporary" so you do´t know too much about the series. It is weird and fan service heavy though haha

pfffff i´m counting your survey. These surveys are desperate for people taking part so i don´t care if people cheat! (don´t tell anyone hahaha)

What types of fan service can you absolutely not tolerate and what types do you maybe even like?

Same question for gore.

The thing with that is that I actually end up watching more than that a year? I just do it differently and I like my way more I guess. Like, 2015 I watched 100 series but I include movies and OVAs and such. And 2016 I watched like, 96 I think. I'm not sure of the exact count of movies/OVAs but I know I do end up watching more than 50 regular TV series.

I'm just picky I guess since I often don't wanna watch what I have on the list?? Describing it like makes me feel kinda silly since if I end up watching more than the thing maybe I should just do the actual thing, but the thought of a deadline still stresses me out >>' I don't deal well with stress, I suppose. Maybe I'll try for real next year?

It'll be our secret lol.

The kinds I can't stand the most are the kinds that romanticize/fetishize pedophilia and nonconsent, because that's the kinda thing that'll make me drop a show. Like, adults hitting on teenagers are nasty. Or like really big ages gaps in general. Like, I like Black Butler but I don't like saying that because I do not want people to assume that I want Sebastian and Ciel in a relationship that is not solely a friendly one. The fact that Super Lovers is well liked enough to get a second season grosses me out. And the only part I didn't like of Dragon Maid was Lucoa constantly rubbing her boobs on Shouta.
I already didn't like the protagonist of Btooom but the last straw was when he was creeping on that girl by the river and she was visibly uncomfortable/afraid by him coming closer and that made me angry. Like, dude you've got a pair of eyes you're obviously scaring her, just go away. I also do not like gross tentacle scenes. The only times I've seen a scene like that are in gifs of Sword Art Online and a filler arc of Reborn but, y'know, nasty. Or any scene where a person is coming on too strong with somebody else who has either said "NO" or is otherwise visibly uncomfortable/afraid but it's played off as a joke or as fanservice or both. It's nasty.

Other than that I don't mind fanservice where it's either equal opportunity fanservice (y'know a little something for everybody) or it doesn't feel like the girls are just props/there solely for fanservice or are just as deep and complex as the other characters. Like I didn't mind watching Konosuba because it didn't feel like the fanservice was degrading and the girls were just as important as the boys if not occasionally more so. An example of the opposite of that would be K Project probably, because as cute as Neko is, if she or the other blue officer lady were gone, the entire show would be exactly the same (only with less boobs). And the only other female character is the little red girl who gets like 5 short lines max out of 13 episodes.

I feel like I'd enjoy watching Food Wars despite the ecchi though because, while I'm still pretty sure most of the foodgasm scenes are with girls, there's a few men in there too. Then there's also the nudist guy who's usually only wearing a pink apron. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ So it feels equal.

I don't really enjoy any type of fanservice though?? I mean, don't get me wrong I love cute girls!! I just enjoy fanservice more as a gif or picture or something rather than when I'm actually watching anime because 1) when I am watching anime my intent is not to get turned on (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ 2) there is often the issue of it being kinda gross or the girls are disposable and it just makes me mad and 3) it usually doesn't do anything for me anyways? I just find it unnecessary so it's just there trying to do something for me and failing and no one's happy.

I actually do really like the kitty lady because she is very pretty while also looking pretty dangerous and I dig that, but solely at face value, I might not want to watch something she is in because 1) not trying to get turned on, 2) the risk of her being a fanservice prop and nothing more or her being subjected to gross things is present, 3) just not a fan of fanservice based shows because it often does nothing for me so it's just kind of obnoxious. For another example one time I was on vine and there was this DxD edit of one of the EDs with the pole dancing and I have been thinking about that since but I'm never gonna watch High School DxD for the same reasons.
(which I have found again for this occasion in case you were curious: https://vine.co/v/eLWvPxzhjiu)

But I feel like Monogatari really is a deep show so I don't think the girls exist solely to be ogled at, especially since I've heard it's most promising point is it's dialogue.

For gore, the only thing I don't like is torture. The concept of someone freely taking away someone else's freedom, or being in complete control of someone like that, just really unnerves me. Otherwise anything and everything is okay. Which is kind of weird since (fictional) murder doesn't bother me? And I'm more okay with eyes being gouged out or guts spilling but somebody tied to a table and being hurt makes me uneasy? Who knows how my mind works? Definitely not me.

Assuming you mean the different settings and not each individual perspective, I like the train scenes the most! I enjoyed the murder mystery vibe and also the fact that there were multiple groups trying to take over the same train by accident is just really funny to me.

If you did mean each individual character's perspective, then Miria and Isaac's story was my favorite because they're cute and dumb and made me laugh.

I finished it just now actually (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I was a little busy over the weekend
My final thought is that I'm very glad it's getting another season! It has this very quiet, somber atmosphere a lot of the time, and sometimes it could be a bit too depressing, but it was still very comfy and warm feeling. The sisters' house was the comfiest and warmest. And I know I've mentioned this before but I really really love the colors in this anime. I also really love the use of colorful vocabulary and imagery though, like, I know nothing about shogi but the narrative always paints such a clear picture of what's going on that I'm able to keep up perfectly.

It was overall a very pleasant watch and I'd definitely recommend it to somebody who enjoys slice of life or has suffered from depression or anxiety. Rei is painfully relatable in that aspect. (┳◇┳)

3-gatsu kinda sparked my interest in Shogi lol
As a chess player, the way to Shogi isn´t too long but it is such a deep game -.-
Also i found out my country has only 17 (SEVENTEEN!) active Shogi players hahaha

What were you thoughts about talking cats? lol (i know it´s just their thoughts told to the viewers but still...)

I have not actually finished HxH (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I've only watched 128 episodes out of 148 and I haven't actually seen the part you're referring to there. But it's okay since literally everything has been spoiled for me so I know what happens (for the most part I think) anyways!!

I don't play either but I am more interested now, I kind of wish I could find english subtitles to that kitty shogi song. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I feel like that'd help if I were to ever learn it.
Is that bad? I feel like that's more than the US has. Whatever that number might be.

Pfft it was a bit jarring? I didn't mind it, it was just odd lol. I feel like it'd make more sense in manga form, ya know what with the small unbubbled text they usually use for afterthoughts and such. But with actual voices and focus it's just? Weird? Lightheartedly weird though, like I wouldn't subtract points from the anime for it. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ It was cute weird I guess.
Not particularly!! Not to say I didn't like any of the characters besides Rei, I just never singled one out to be attached to I guess. I really like the sisters and Nikaidou is cute and I'm interested in Souya.

Lol, that's clever (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖
Yeah, I watch quite a few. Youtube is a good way to pass time and since I like anime the majority of Youtubers I watch are anime ones. The channel I recommend the most is Mother's Basement. Geoff's a super cool dude and I like him. I really enjoy listening to his seasonal podcasts about airing anime (always with company from youtubers I often am not subscribed to but still) despite the fact they're 4+ hours long because I get his sense of humor and I just really enjoy hearing what he has to say on things. I actually added more anime to my plan to watch list because I finished watching his spring 2017 podcast and he and the others vouched for them. (・∀・ ) I trust his opinions lol
Aaaand here are some more:
Digibro. He posts a lot more in shorter videos and that's just more convenient honestly. I asked somebody else this same question too though, and I forget who it was but they said that they recommended Digi, but he's a jerk. They are not wrong about that. He isn't a bully or anything but he can be a jerk. I don't think he's a bad guy though. Like, he knows what he's talking about at least. I enjoy his analyzation of anime and especially if it's something I like. I really like his recent videos about Dragon Maid because I love that he loves Dragon Maid too.
Gigguk but less for deep dissections on the hidden meaning in various anime or just how something is made either well or poorly and more because I just think the guys funny. I also like how he feels about anime because I feel the same way
PressHeartToContinue because Dodger is very very cute and I like her anime news. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ And as much as I respect the other youtubers' opinions I mentioned above I feel like my actual tastes are more similar to hers than theirs.
42believer hasn't updated in a long time but she was actually one of the first anime youtubers I ever watched and I still think she's really funny.
I also don't mind Anime America. I don't particularly love their stuff because sometimes they kinda tick me off, difference of views, and I just don't get Robyn's sense of humor but like, they're not bad people. So they're alright.
I don't explore too much further than that because I'm not on youtube that often, so that's all. (◕‿◕✿)

Yeah absolutely also you have doomed yourself because you gave me an opening to talk about a character I like, good luck buddy.

I think that Best Compensation Character survey made that most obvious but, I do not like Kyou Kara Maou but I really do love Wolf. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ The show itself is boring and while it's supposed to be fujo bait it actually comes off as pretty phobic since the main character is constantly making comments along the lines of "but two men shouldn't be married" and other things like that (like maybe making gross faces at the thought of gayness and such). Like, it's supposed to be a joke but if the jokes not funny then it's not a very good joke, y'know? I legitimately believe the show only has the good score it has score because of Wolf, because everything else isn't very good? It's slow and the jokes are more often misses than they are hits and the animation is awful (which I can kind of excuse since it's older but man it's not like all old stuff has bad animation). More than anything that should probably be a deal breaker is that I really dislike how the series treats Wolf himself?

So, one of the biggest things in the show that's like introduced and is permanent through the rest of the series is that Wolf and the protagonist, Yuuri, are accidentally engaged. Now that's not the main plot, the main idea is Yuuri is sucked into this other world and is then dubbed the demon king (due to his black eyes and black hair), which was prophesied by the oracle I think. But since he's never been to this world before and there are culture differences he accidentally proposes to this really mean demon dude who's all around a snotty person. And I didn't like Wolf at first either because of that but stuff happens and Wolf is pretty much immediately endeared towards Yuuri afterwards. My issue, or at least one of them, is that he's the butt of too many jokes for my liking, because I sincerely don't think it's deserved. Most of the jokes I'm referring to here are him making a fuss over Yuuri cheating on him. Which is mostly played off as "haha little lord brat is overreacting again." But.... It's entirely justified because Yuuri would cheat on him? There's an entire (small) arc that's just one of the supporting characters going "hey you're of marrying age so why don't we get you a Wife." to which Yuuri responds "yeah sure okay. :)" The girl they found was actually trying to get with Wolf ironically, which didn't happen for reasons I'm sure you can guess. But if she actually had been willing to marry Yuuri, Wolf would've been devastated. Wolf would literally die for Yuuri, like that's nearly happened in canon. Yuuri was about to fall off a cliff and Wolf caught him and basically says "if you fall, then I'll fall with you." It's also canon that his worst fear is that Yuuri will break off the engagement and leave him and Yuuri's worst fear is that Wolf is actually in love with him (this is all pretty directly said in the OVA series). Yuuri absolutely does not take this seriously, which is justifiable since the engagement was an accident in the first place, but Wolf really genuinely loves him and is giving this his all. It's just plain upsetting that Yuuri isn't gonna marry Wolf but he's not gonna break it off with him because he does need Wolf as he's saved Yuuri's life on multiple occasions and he does see Wolf as a close friend and Wolf is stubborn and passionate so he's never gonna break if off either. Makes me sad mad. ಥ_ಥ

Despite the issues I have with this series, Wolf is still a charming character. He's fiercely loyal, aggressively protective, he loves his adopted daughter dearly and really tries to be a good dad, hot-headed (kind of literally since he uses fire magic), bluntly honest (which works in both ways, whether he's being honestly kind or honestly rude), very brave, and I will always love snarky characters. It's a weakness. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I just think he's well balanced. Like he's not above being shady, like the one time Adalbert got drunk and Wolf said he'd promised him something. Adalbert did not promise him anything but he has no way of knowing that. But he apologizes for things he knows he did wrong and is by all means a supportive friend (although it might have taken a while to get there). He just always feels very genuine. Like he passionately feels the things he feels at 100%. He's not tsundere either, like if he insults you then he means it lol. There's no underlying hidden love message there. It goes the same way with compliments too though, like he can be shy about it sometimes but more often than not he'll just give praise where it's due and move on. Like he's pretty consistently always told Yuuri that he's both an idiot and a good king. It also helps that there's a lot of content, like 70 drama CDs, which add things that canon doesn't have time or place to touch on. Like, in one he and Yuuri go to earth together and they get coffee or something but Wolf doesn't quite understand straws because he's not from earth and doesn't go there often so he just makes this weird face. And on a slightly darker note, in another one Yuuri asks Wolf if he would cry if Yuuri died. To which he responds no, because he wouldn't want Yuuri to be upset from beyond the grave. Even if kkm (the anime at least, I've heard the novels were better) had subpar writing, I still feel that Wolf has a lot of character and I just like him a whole lot. Combined with all that plus my sympathy for him because I think he deserves better places him pretty high on the favorites list lol.

All in all kkm isn't downright awful or anything, it's just lack luster really. It's mildly offensive occasionally but it's not like that's not stuff that's pretty normal throughout everything and hey it gets points for trying at least. I'm likely gonna read the novels anyways because I love Wolf. I just really hope that they're better. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Aaaaand that's gone on for long enough so I'm done.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhh??? Who knows???? ;-; I'm a very fickle creature and I honestly have no idea what I'm watching next. I always have such a hard time deciding. When I do decide I often change my mind. It's a mess. It kind of depends on what I'm feeling but I don't know what I'm feeling so that makes things difficult.

I guess I'm planning on starting Sailor Moon soon though? I probably wont? That's it. That's all I've got.

I think so since I enjoy Madoka, but objectively, probably not. I think they're better paced than the original tv series because they cut out a few unnecessary scenes but they don't add anything new either. Excluding the 3rd movie I haven't watched yet because that's not a recap that's a sequel lol. I'd recommend watching the first 2 movies if you feel like rewatching Madoka, but otherwise you're not missing out on anything if you skip them.

Yeah definitely!! My favorite is always gonna be Hatoful Boyfriend, mostly because I started it entirely as a joke, because y'know it's a bird dating sim, but it actually has really cool characters and then it got really dark and I was horrified. It was a good experience, trauma and all. I used to play more, but I can't quite remember the names of most of them. The only one that really comes to mind is Featherbent (mostly because I still have it downloaded) which is a fanmade Homestuck VN that hasn't been updated in years now. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ It was outstandingly well made though.

I haven't played any in quite a while besides Hato though, which makes me sad because I do like them a lot. I'd like to play Zero Escape and Hustle Cat but I don't have the money right now. ..So if anybody wants to recommend me some free ones that'd be neat. (┳◇┳)

Hey Hey what do you say! It's survey time again!!
Happy Monday and Welcome to HST Survey Number 84!

As always, if you feel like participating please answer this question game until Sunday, 7pm CET. Please check for your local time zone if you can't do this survey before Sunday! If you aren't familiar with surveying yet, here are the rules overview for newcomers:

Don't spoil yourself! Don't click the next spoiler button until you have answered the question/step you are currently at. Also don't take this survey too seriously and have fun! ^^

As this is a special survey, there will be a Hardcore Version, which will be extremely similar to the Full Version. You can also do the traditional Full Version, the Quick Version, or any combination of the three that you want.

THE ANIMEVISION SURVEY!
(created by Conde Möhr)

This survey will be a bit different than the rest, since the Hardcore Version will require the collaboration of other people. If you don't want to participate in the experiment, you can still do the Full Version, which is exactly the same, except for Step 3 (so that you can switch in the middle of it). You only need to do one of them, and the Hardcore Version takes precedence in the classification. The Quick Survey works as always.

Content in Italics is aditional info about ESC, and can be ignored if you're not interested.

She's strong and cute and I like her!! I'm also proud of how she developed through the series, because in the first episode or so I did not like her so much. She pretty immediately made up for it though, so I don't hold that against her or the series. I don't have much other than that to say though, she's neat but I don't think about her often.

Yes lol

Ahh no not really, for a few reasons.
Most (not all) fujoshi are straight girls who think gay guys are hot but also dirty (as the word suggests) and they typically dislike or don't have any of the same feelings for gay girls. I'm not straight. I prefer to be gender ambiguous when possible. I don't think I'm going to hell or that I'm dirty for enjoying relationships between two dudes or two girls or other LGBT characters. So? The word doesn't really resonate with me at all? Like, I'm queer and I like queer characters and I don't really think fujoshi applies.
Not to say I dislike fujoshi, I'm friends with a few. I just won't call myself one.

I don't like most that I've watched and others I straight up refuse to watch. Doukyuusei is the only shounen ai thing I've watched that I genuinely thought was high quality. I found Love Stage to be creepy most of the time, because I don't think nearly forcing yourself on someone and then forcing them to accept your apology is romantic at all? It left me feeling bitter. I'll absolutely never watch Junjou Romantica or ppfft that other one I was talking about earlier. When Phil asked me about ecchi stuff. It's got that gross age gap. Junjou Romantic has the same issues (less so I think but still). It's got gross age gaps and forceful behavior and I'm not interested.

I don't watch yaoi at all because I'm not a ecchi/hentai person. Not my thing.

I don't like common shounen ai tropes (especially seme/uke stereotypes which make me cringe) so I don't watch a lot. I prefer it to be a subplot or implied because those usually lack those tropes I don't like.

Small edit because I was worried this sounded rude: I don't think I'm better than anybody for not calling myself a fujo or for not liking fujo stuff. This is fiction so I don't 100% believe it's hurting anyone by having age gaps or unrealisitc romance. Ages in anime are more like titles than any indication of maturity anyways. It's just really not for me at all. I don't dig it, would rather watch something else, but I wouldn't shun a friend if they liked this stuff or anything.

Looked too complicated for my lazy soul lol, also not in the mood because I'm depressed that I can't go see Your Name in theaters. 8")

Ya know? I think I was gonna ask this to you months ago and I forgot?

Firstly, I think a lot of this stuff is basically the same because it wouldn't be hard for me at all to bump up or knock down one number for a lot of these series.

I'm actually a little surprised we both like Charlotte and both dislike FLCL?

Didn't even realize we'd both watched Senyuu. As much as I like it your rating is very understandable.

I don't really understand why your ratings between the Mushishi and Nayuu seasons are different? I mean, not particularly because I like them both, like I'd understand if they were consistently a bad score or consistently a good score. My point is that I don't think the writing or general feel of either of the shows changes through the seasons. So what makes Mushishi's first season an 8 and the special a 6? What changed in Nayuu that made the 3rd season a 6 and the 4th an 8? O3O Not tryin to like, disagree with you or anything since I'm sure you've got your reasons, but I am curious

I'm genuinely surprised that Non Non Biyori is a 6??? I thought you liked Non Non Biyori????

Not surprised that Shinsekai Yori is the biggest difference of opinions lol

About my ratings for Mushishi and Natsume Yuujinchou: well, both these shows are extremely episodic so since i basically "rate" every single episode in such shows and then calculate the average, differences can occur.

I personally was unhappy when Nayuu went into the direction of Natsume giving back names anymore and when we stopped seing flashbacks to Reiko. For a long time i was hoping the anime would remain like forever and i thought it lost its way a bit when it stopped doing that. I thought those episodes transported a much higher level of nostalgia, melancholy and emotion to the viewer and this touching aspect of the show went missing for a while.

By now i see other qualities in the show however so my rating went back up again thanks to the rising importance and appearances of his new won friends, both humans and youkai alike. The focus has shifted to Natsume developing as a person and i respect that.

Mushishi can be judges case by case and it just so happened that the one i rated a 6 was a more forgettable one to me. It was a special featuring just this one "illness" so this explains the lower rating. I still took my general liking of Mushishi into account though. 6 still means "good" on MAL so it´s not like i disliked it a lot or something.

To me, 6 is not necessarily a bad rating at all. If 1 is unwatchable and 10 is a masterpiece, 5 must be average which turns Non Non Biyori into an above average show ;) I really liked it. It is really cute and funny and i love rural settings but i could not give it more than a 6 with good consciousness when i look at my 7s. NNB is NOT on par with those. I always keep in mind that NNB is a easy to write and easy to produce anime. It is there for relaxation and fun SoL and nothing else and it would be an insult to every anime telling an actual story well if i gave it the same score. My ratings do not always reflect my personal enjoyment of an anime entirely. My heart wants to rate NNB much higher but my brain says no lol

What does "i could live without mecha" mean exactly? lol It does imply not all mecha is bad so what is good mecha in your opinion? What disappoints you the most in that genre?

What does "i could live without mecha" mean exactly? lol It does imply not all mecha is bad so what is good mecha in your opinion? What disappoints you the most in that genre?

Yeah that makes sense, thanks for sharing!! :> I guess the difference here is that I don't really find too many episodes at all to be below the average (which is pretty high in my opinion) and when they are lack luster it's usually spread pretty evenly throughout each season. To be honest I know 10/10 for everything is a little much but I have a lot of love in my heart lol.

I just see it as a below average score since the majority of anime on mal are a 7s and anything below a 7 is typically consensually bad (unless it's an OVA or short series which are low by the standard). So when I see a rating that's 6 or lower my response is "yikes." (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ A 6 for me isn't an upstanding score.

It essentially means that I don't straight up hate it, but I'm never gonna get a craving that only mecha anime can satisfy. I won't reject watching it but I won't go out of my way to watch it either, y'know? If the genre died I wouldn't be affected.

I don't think giant robots are that cool and mecha fights always feel a bit impersonal and clunky/slow to me. I like fast, physical fights with cool poses and mecha doesn't really give me that. Like the HxH Pitou vs Gon fight is one of the best I've ever ever seen because of how well animated, gritty, and cool it was.

Coupled with the fact I really dislike CG and I've never watched a mecha anime I truly enjoyed, it's made me a little wary to say the least.

But I also don't believe it would be impossible for me to find a mecha anime I truly enjoyed, which is why I'm still planning to watch Iron-Blooded Orphans among others. I just haven't yet.

Also, do you think you could help me with this week's survey? All you need to do is listen to the songs in this playlist and give me your top ten. But be careful! If one of those songs belongs to a show you have listed as favorite in your profile, you can't include it in yor top ten.

If you can't help me, it's okay, don't worry about it :-)

Nope, sure haven't!! The third movie is on my ptw list I think though, if that counts.

Ahh pretty hard choice but I'd go with Kyoko. I like her hard-headed and aggressive nature (I also happen to harbor a fondness for red head ladies). Episode 9 really hurt my heart too. ;-; It reminds me of the song I Will Follow You Into The Dark.

I can do that. :>

What are your top 3 favourite anime studios and why?

My favorite is Studio Bones!! The most obvious reason being that I love their works a whole bunch and they've very seldom let me down. There's also the fact that out of the 8 anime on my favorite's list 3 of those are Bones (No.6, Noragami, Ouran). The rest being each from different studios. I'm also a fan of their animation, which has also very seldom let me down.

2nd and 3rd are Madhouse and KyoAni respectively. For basically the same reasons, I like a lot of their stuff and I like a lot of their animation (which I'm definitely a sucker for). There's more frequently flops in Madhouse for me though, and I haven't seen too many KyoAni works yet, so I hold Bones in higher respect for now.

How active are you in your other clubs?

Not very! I do participate in Fantasy Anime League, but not actively. I just submit my stuff and look at the results when it's all over. Sometimes I scroll through the few anime recs clubs I'm in, but I never actually participate, or I haven't yet anyways. All the other clubs I'm in, I'm kind of only in them just for the sake of being in them. Monia Café is definitely where I spend most of my time on MAL.

Ah, i see.. Once again, that's a nice explanation that you have right there! and i do actually agree with some points that you mentioned above.. So can yo mentioned several anime (aside from Kyou Kara Maou) that have an ambiguous/implied type of relationship? and what's your opinion about straight couple/shipping in anime? Do you enjoy them as well?

Thank you! I'm always kind of worried I've left something important out or I've misworded something when I write longer answers like this, so that's reassuring. :'D Forgive me if I'm wrong, are you asking me to list a few? If so then it's really subjective, since it's only ambiguous/implied and some people just won't see it or will straight up disagree (even if it's obvious sometimes). Regardless, Nezumi and Shion are pretty much my favorite romantic relationship but they simultaneously never actually say "hey by the way we're boyfriends." They give you the information about the characters, context to their interactions, and they let the reader interpret it as they will. And besides the fact that most people don't kiss each other as platonic affection, they have a lot of chemistry and it's pretty obvious that they love each other despite the fact they never say it. And as being a guilty pleasure of mine, I really like Retoree and Cyan's relationship in Show by Rock. Retoree's crush on Cyan is really cute and I'd like to believe that Cyan returns those feelings even if they've never really confronted it. Flip Flappers is also a good example, because while it's not tagged as shoujo ai it still tackles a lot of coming to terms with your sexuality themes and crunchyroll did a pretty well written article on it here. And whether you see it as romantic as I do, or entirely platonic, they love each other very dearly. There's more out there but as I said, it's subjective since it's only implied so you might not see what I see and I might not see what you see.

Well yeah of course, if a it's a relationship that's built off of trust, respect, good communication, and chemistry, then regardless of the genders there's a good chance I'll appreciate that relationship. I'm kind of picky though, because I'm not much into romance in general so they've gotta be exactly the right kind of people with the right kind of interactions for me to be really involved. I really like Syaoran and Sakura for example, and I'm very tempted to pick Tsubasa Chronicle back up from dropping it because I do like them a lot (despite the fact the anime itself is slow and poorly directed). They're already really cute, they've been friends for a long time and they clearly hold a deep admiration for each other, but what really sells me on their crushes on each other is the fact that they have crushes on each other in Cardcaptor Sakura too. Like, they like each other so much that it goes beyond different dimensions??? That's so cute... (┳◇┳) So, in short, I enjoy straight couples in anime too as long it they fit my tastes in couples.

;)

Definitely!! (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ There are a lot of shows I'm gonna keep my eye on actually. I'm sure that at least half are gonna turn out to be flops but I can't help but give them benefit of the doubt. I'm an optimist at heart, truly

I'm definitely gonna be watching Touken Ranbu, which I'm actually pretty sure is going to be bad since it's not like the game has much content to be able to be produced into anime well, but since it's ufotable it's at least gonna look nice lol.

I have really high hopes for Ballroom e Youkoso, I've heard good things about the manga and the studio has done a lot of things I like. I'm expecting this one to be one of the better series in the up coming season.

Kakegurui has potential to be a cool psychological show, especially if they really show-don't-tell what it's like to read your opponent, so maybe the viewer can try to figure out what's going through their heads too. The main protagonist seems like the kind of character I'd like so that's also a bonus

Jikan no Shihaisha is actually giving me a vibe that it's the kind of anime that takes itself waaayy too seriously but I'm giving it a shot in the hopes that it's either fun enough despite it thinking it's better than it is or that it will prove me wrong and just be good.

I'm actually very tempted to start Saiyuuki, especially since I just finished Reborn and I want another battle shounen. Although that's apparently just the first season that's a shounen? The one coming out this season is josei, which is a very different target demographic, but that in itself makes me curious lol. Also, a rogue priest teaming up with a group of demons sounds really cool to me

Even though I basically just said I don't watch many shounen ai series in another post, Hitorijime My Hero seems pretty harmless. So I'll be giving that a go probably.

I'm also pretty excited for Shoukoku no Altair, since I've also heard good things about the manga. The manga just recently won an award actually, saw that in the MAL news. It's also got a kind of unique feel to it, just going off the cover.

Isekai Shokudou just seems kind of classy? It also has a pretty unique feel to it, since I haven't seen an anime with this kind of setting/genre combo. I could see it becoming one of Silver Link's more popular shows

I wasn't interested in The Reflection at all at first but I found out a while ago that it's being directed by the guy who directed Mushishi and I adore Mushishi, and he's also directed Detriot Metal City and Aku no Hana, which are both pretty popular things I've heard about so I believe he knows what he's doing. Also Stan Lee is one of the original creators which is pretty amazing. It helps that I definitely love action and super heroes so I'm really excited for this!!

Vatican Kiseki Chousakan's cover and PV are kind of lack luster but it's pretty different since I don't regularly see catholicism in anime. The mystery and false miracles give this an interesting tone too. I just hope the director knows what they're doing since not a lot of people seem to be fans of the novel or manga lol

There's a few other things I'm kind of interested in too, but I think I'll wait for the first few episodes to come out before I give them a go. Like, Centaur no Nayami looks potentially cute but I really do not trust Haoliners at all and Netsuzou Trap could be good but I'm kind of worried about the cheating aspect of it, so that depends how it's presented..

So those are basically all the anime that caught my eye!! (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖

Haha, i see.. Well, that's some interesting point you got right there for sure! Also since you say you aren't really into a romance, what things do you think is the most important for an anime to be able to enjoyed or get a high score/rating from you? and what type of anime do you tend to enjoy the most? :P

Uuum I'm not really sure? The characters are definitely important to me. I get very attached and involved with characters I like. But that doesn't really mean I'll enjoy the anime or give it a good score? Or vice versa. Like I liked the characters in Black Cat, I did not like Black Cat (which I rated a 6). And I liked Death Parade (which I rated a 10), but I'm more attached to Train and co. from Black Cat than I'm attached to Decim and the others. I usually enjoy action and shounen a lot, but I'm not sure what's most important for it to be enjoyed, if that makes sense? I think it's kind of loose.
If that doesn't make sense that's understandable because I had to retype that a few times in attempts to get my thoughts out and I'm not sure how successful I was with that lol.

Absolutely not. I'm not interested and I don't see much benefit from it either. Seems way too sparkly and requires way too much effort really.

Do you ever watch non-anime TV shows?

Uuh, not often. I used to watch more non-anime stuff but as I started watching more anime I started watching less non-anime things.

I also started watching less because I lost interest in a lot of stuff too though, like I used to be a big Doctor Who fan, especially of 9 and 10. I didn't find 11's season as good but he was still fun enough that I didn't mind watching it. I really did not like 12 or Clara, so I stopped watching it at that point.

I used to be a big fan of Supernatural too, but god they ran out of ideas and it really should've just ended. It makes me sad too because the first season was really good, I love cryptids and ghost legends and stuff like that and that's what it was all about and it was super fun. But the last time I watched an episode they were fighting god's sister or something? I'm not too religious or anything but I find that kind of offensive. I stopped watching that too.

Empire was pretty good, the only reason I stopped watching that was because my mom kept watching it without me when the new episodes aired and I otherwise don't watch regular TV alone so I just didn't keep up.

Sherlock just takes too long to come out and I'm done with that for now.

There are some shows that I regret not finishing like Gravity Falls and Criminal Minds though, because I still like both quite a lot. I don't see myself finishing either (or catching up, in Criminal Mind's case, since that's still airing) in the near future though.

I'm probably never gonna finish Voltron or Steven Universe either. Voltron because I just don't like the robots and cgi and Steven because I heard the quality started lacking a bit? I just don't really care enough at the moment, but they're not bad shows or anything. :'X

The last non-anime TV series I actually finished was 13 Reasons Why and Santa Clarita Diet. Which was only really because my mom made me watch them with her. I have a feeling we only succeeded with that because we binged them and they were fairly short lol. They were both good though and I liked them a lot, especially Santa Clarita Diet since I like horror comedies.

And that's it. That handful of titles are the only non-anime shows I've watched within the past few years and I've only actually finished two of them. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ I'd like to watch Stranger Things though, I heard that was pretty good.

Thoughts on Reborn and how long did it take you to watch it?

To be honest I kind of hated the first 20 or so episodes. Like they were all introduction-filler episodes of sorts that were just comedy based. But the comedy in this show is really awful and childish and it mostly just gave me secondhand embarrassment. I stuck around though because I felt like the payoff for this when Tsuna actually becomes more boss like was gonna be really good.
I was totally right and it was really good and I do think it was worth it to stick around. although, I don't think I'd recommend the show to anybody for that reason, just because it was worth it for me doesn't mean it'd be worth it for everybody.

The first arc was what made me decide that I wasn't gonna drop it, because I still think that it was handled pretty well.

Hibari was made out to be this malicious tough guy right from the point of introduction. He's really good at beating people up because he does it on the regular and he is undoubtedly the strongest character besides Reborn at this point. And then this other guy shows up and completely destroys him and it was actually horrifying. Like here's this guy who made it a habit to make everyone afraid of him being, like, straight up tortured?? It was a major tone shift because the show had never ventured away from being anything other than childish for /20 some episodes/ and then all of a sudden Hibari is wrecked and getting his face bashed in.

So it sends a pretty strong message of how strong Tsuna can be when he beats Mukuro. Also Mukuro made Hibari so mad that he then went on to base his entire battle strategy on deflecting illusionists (as seen in the future arc). Hibari is a very bitter person and I find that hilarious.

There's a lot of characters I really like from Reborn, I had Tsuna on my favorites list for a while before I narrowed it down to just my top ones. I am very endeared to a very large amount though, like Fran and Bel are probably my favorite relationship in the show because of how much they insult each other. (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ That's another part of the show I find funny. Chrome is the cutest, sweetest ever and I love her. I think her powers are really neat too which is disappointing since we only get to see her really fight by herself like once, I think. She's been my phone's wallpaper for a few months now too (images are pretty big)

She's so cute, I love her. ;-; Dino is a really dumb kind of cute, Bianchi is cool and tough, Haru is a nutcase, Gokudera reminds me of an angry puppy, Mukuro is an antagonistic prick but he's really sweet around Chrome, Hibari is pretty much exactly the kind of character I like so of course I love him, Lal is die-hard loyal and fierce, and it's super rewarding to watch Tsuna grow from where he started to where he is now. I've always liked that he was kind of morally grey too, I mean he's not evil or anything close to it. He's just pretty neutral. Like he doesn't wanna save the world, he doesn't really care. It's too much. But he's protective over his friends, so if he happens to save the world in the process of protecting his friends that's cool but it's not his goal. There's other characters I like too but Reborn has a lot of characters and I can't list all of them.

It falls into pretty much all the shounen cliches (ex: the random powerups in the middle of battle, *clenches fist* "for my friends!!", opponents eventually becoming allies, "this isn't even my final form", ect.) but I do think it does them well. As least for someone who likes battle shounen and doesn't mind the cliches that come with it.

I really hope it gets a second season lol. Especially since I've watched that Reborn X elDLIVE crossover and it was gorgeously animated. ;-; .. And I've seen screencaps of the next few arcs and Enma is cute and I want to meet him.
Look how good this looks though

I started it sometime in 2015, I mostly watched it in spurts. I'd watch a good portion of it and then I'd put it on hold for a while, and then I'd watch some more and put it on hold again. So it took a while to say the least.
