Yeah, another reason it's always better in Japanese is that the language retains a certain authenticity.

ALWAYS DUBBED. ALWAYS!!!
all the English voice actors have to drive to do their job well. either that, or they try too hard. the English actress for C.C gave her WAY to much emotion. no matter how they try the English voice actors just mess everything up. the original actors are much better at what they do.

I just enjoy the Japanese language more than English... I prefer original before dubs. There's just a few animes that may have some good voice actors in them.

It's just plain wrong to say it's always better in japanese. Dubs these days usually do an excellent job of matching the voice with the character, keeping the spirit and meaning of the words, and enhancing the creativity. They're on an even footing. The only argument against it is that the original is better just because it's original, which doesn't make sense at all in a low art entertainment venue.

Miyazaki's films are well dubbed, but its also fun to watch it in a different language and gives the whole thing a much more authentic feel. Try it in both and compare for yourself!

Some anime are great in english. But the original Japanese with subs is usually generally better for me.

But it is nice to be able to just listen to English. Just easier.

I don't know if anime is always better in Japanese but I prefer mine to be because it sounds a lot more natural. Dubs that I may think is horrible others may love and dubs that I love everyone else may say are crap so maybe i'm not the best judge of whats better or what's worse...

Personal preference. I still believe its personal preference. I started out with a few chinese dubs, then a couple of english dubs, then made the switch to japanese voice-acting and did not turned back. Although I don't really understand japanese, I still stuck to subs. Even if the show is fast paced and loaded with action, I got use to reading the subs and watching the scene without losing track of any parts.

Still, japanese voice-acting isn't always the best. Most of them didn't even put out that same quality or effort when trying to speak english lines as compared to when they are speaking in their own language.

Also, there are english voice actors that don't seem to even put in any effort in their tone and pitching, and just roll out the lines like as if being forced to do so. Ever watched Disney's movies? The differences between some of those dubs and Disney's voice actors are just unbelievable.

I learned a long time ago that anime is -always- better in its original form than if it were dubbed.

Porco Rosso is the only anime I have watched with dubbing, but they had an excellent voice cast (as all Miyazaki films do) for that one, and it was alright to watch, with only a few "Monkey Magic" lip sync moments...

I second this. Yeah to me the characters sound more natural in Japanese ( maybe cause they are trained and are also professionals ).
I am not trying to offend anyone but this is my own opinion.
I think English dubs sound more ermmm.... not natural? And in some way, it makes an anime more cartoonish if you get what I mean.
Again, I am not trying to offend anyone and my myself had actually saw some nice English dub

The main flaw in dubs is that most of the time, the small quirks, mannerisms and behaviors that a character expresses don't translate well into another language.

One example would be is when a Japanese person goess "Mm." to agree or say yes in response to something, the character could be interpreted as a decisive and attentive person who listens. Where as if a character who had such a mannerism in an english speaking environment could be interpreted as shy or disinterested in the conversation, and thus ultimately changes the overall view of a character in someones mind, effectively becoming "lost in translation".

That is just one example, not a good one, but imagine if little quirks like that are mimicked or even omitted throughout the whole dubbed version of the anime... it can confuse, mislead or skew your perspective of a character and becomes a shadow of what the writer was attempting to portray in the first place.

EDIT: Plus, who doesnt love those cute anime girl squeeks and giggles.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE = ALSO GOOD
THE FIRST ONE YOU LISTEN TO FOR AN ANIME = AUTOMATICALLY THE ONE YOU BECOME BIASED TOWARDS.

Srsly, you guys.
My current anime list is grossly, out of date, just so you know.

This will always be an ongoing debate. To me, I like both. There are a lot of factors that are placed into dubbing an anime. The key is picking the right voice and making sure that the voice actor will match the personality of that character. That in itself is not an easy task. This is why most dubbed anime series will often use the same voice actors due to their ability of doing their best to match the character personalities according to the original Japanese script.

Sometimes I feel that the fans don't understand what voice actors go through. It is very lengthy process to record and also maintain certain voices for different series. Voice actors go through a lot of training and taking a lot of time to train and create new voices. I am not saying that the fans are not thankful to voice actors. But we must try to understand that doing this job is not easy and if was not for the voice actors making the characters come to life we would not have an anime industry to enjoy.

I may be the only person here who prefers dub! I usually watch animes when im folding laundry or doing chores.....i cant sit there squinting for subtitles, i need the dub!!! I must admit there are a few dubs out there that are awful however, i stick with mainstream stuff and they usually do a good job with that.

I have had ppl tell me subs are better b/c u can hear the emotions from the actors voices....however i dont know any japanese (except for mushi mushi/sayonara and arigato lol) ...i miss out on the emphasis of certain words that have the emotion and all that...i have watched many animes subbed and i found my eyes to be very tired quickly lol

In Japanese !!
The original version is always the best for those things.

And it must depend of the voice they use too I think...I don't know how it is for you, but in France some voices are totally horrible (Naruto's voice dor exemple) ... It makes me cry sometimes (T_T)
