Yuki_no_kodomo said: foxy12 said: who knows XD i didn`t start a thread..so what's the point of this whole noe vs hiormi thread when it's obvious who the winner was from the start.... it`s just seems to me that hiromi didn`t even notice Shin before noe appeared X_X why didn`t she tell him about possibility being siblings earlier? she just keeps too much in herself she should be more open with Shin Hiromi had pretty much a depressive childhood , and of course it`s normal to be like that... however, i think that people should be more open with the ones they love. ...but it easily to explain why she stayed away from Shin as far as possible...she was afraid to get to close to him, wasn`t she? ....but jealosy has won X_X as I said before, it looked like hiromi was afraid to have relationship with shin , but she didn`t want to give him to Noe too X_X and that`s why she made everything too difficult that`s the reason why i voted for Noe...she`s more simple, while it`s hard to understand such people as Hiromi >,< it looked like like she made confused not even shin, but herself too did she even understand herself on her own? maybe she got tooooooooo confused...and even wasn`t in love with shin but had a brother complex and didn`t just want him to date some girl X_X her character is too hard to understand, because she almost don`t show any emotions and don`t explain anything she should remember that people can`t read her thoughts the show had two missing keys -honesty and courage ,what u said a bout hiormi can also be said a bout (shin ,jun, nabuse and mostly aiko)it was not just hiromi who was dishonest with herself -they all lacked courage which resulted in lies, suppressed feelings and indesiveness(aiko and hiormi) when he found out that it was a lie ,shin wanted to forget hiormi and so he was not being true to himself, hiromi did the same thing ,jun wanted to burry his own feelings because he was in love with his own sis, aiko wasn't honest with herself and even nabuse .. noe was the most honest one of the bunch -the one who forced both girls to admit thier true feelings ..she was the key to the story and the one who got the best of them (not just shin but heromi and aiko as well )before they coudn't fly because they were too wounded by thier own feelings, she was the source the made both girls jealous and come clean .. ur question on why didn`t she tell him about possibility being siblings earlier? this is like asking why didn't aiko confess her feelings to shin earlier? ,why didn't shin confess his feelings to hiromi earlier?,why didn't jun confess his feelings to his sis earlier ?my answer to u to all these questions is FEAR it was the main cause that prevented these characters from saying what they wanted to say and so they suppress these feelings for the sake of not wanting to hurt the other but they ended up hurting each other because of thier lies ..hiromi didn't want to hurt shin but was hurting him and herself because of her lie, aiko didn't want to hurt nabuse but was hurting him and herself as well because of her lie and confusion, jun didn't want to hurt noe because of her mental case and he was hurting himself but she ended up getting hurt and blamed herself ,shin also ended up hurting hiromi and noe because of his indesiveness and his ignorance towards aiko but he was also deeply hurting himself, nabuse was scared of losing aiko and so he ended hurting himself and her by making her feel guilty and even noe ended up hurting her own brother ,shin and hiormi without knowing ..they don't do it on purpose but feelings do get hurt and they coudn't help how they felt ..they were all hurt (everyone had broken hearts)and that's why i felt sorry for all of them ..seriously they were all bunch of miserable characters and even noe (the most cheerful person) ended up having the most problems and she became just like them at the end (poor girl) now back to hiormi-willyvereb explained her situation thoroughly on page(2) read it ,she kept things to herself to avoid making troubles for the family (out of respect)she didn't want to come between them and so she ended up hurting herself .in a way u couid saythat she was protecting shin from knowing the truth because he might end up hating his own dad.. and no she didn't go out with jun to make shin jealous but she wanted to forget just like shin wanted to forget by dating noe but hiromi was also jealous because she was struggling with her true feelings for shin ... it's funny that hiromi seems to be this boring girl to many ppl when i think the wrters did an amazing job with her character ,noe was also difficult to read in my opinion and she was different than most moe characters we see in many animes (fuku from clannad)she was a child and an adult at the same time .. it's also funny that many ppl can't relate to hiromi even though she's realistic and they can easly relate to noe ..but don't get me wrong i liked all characters ..i just prefer the characters which r too hard to understand ^ ^ willyvereb-i agree ,difficult characters r the best ^ ^ |

It's just a theory of my. please vote honestly. Well, well, well. Seems like your theory is wrong after all. ;P While I did prefer watching Noe, she was more fun, inspiring and entertaining (whatever) than Hiromi, I think Hiromi was better for Shin in the end anyway. That's why the title of the anime is called True Tears... just think about who made the statement first? And I'm an Aiko fan, but she's the average girl. |

Well, you are right. I think more realistic would be a better word than average. While I did feel sorry (very sad) for her, since her destiny was not so kind, I think her feelings for Shin were a burden and painful but no more than that. There is a certain character whom I cannot mention (but you know who it is) who fits this forbidden love description even more clearly. So the bottom line is I thought it best that Shin ended with Hiromi (as in the anime would ave the greatest impact), but I personally felt Noe and Shin were closer and shared much more in common. Thinking about who mentioned about the true tears first would thus provide the answer to why the series ended as it did. Certainly not for the sake of pleasing the male audience. |

Certainly not for the sake of pleasing the male audience. yes the description fits jun's character more than ai and his love was indeed more painful than anyone on the show as well -i ttly a gree..i think ai's feelings were unhealthy too ..love can't be resricted but she was not even happy being in love with shin AT ALL and i have to disagree with those who thought she wouid have had a chance of she confessed from the begining EVEN if she was not dating the other guy -she's always known that shin liked hiromi but she still went after him anyway because she couidn't stop thinking a bout him unless she heard the rejection out of his mouth(she's always known that she wouid get rejected anyway) though i pity her a lot because she was always aware of hiormi and shin's feelings for eachother ,she knew she couidn't win a gainst a pretty girl living in thier house (she gave up on him for hiormi's sake )but her feelings came back when she saw that hiromi liked someone else than him (what she has waited for happened)but noe managed to make shin fall inlove with her when she' s being trying for years and that's why she became aggressive and she pulled sekai on him(emotional breakdown) and did u see his face when she kissed him -he was in a shock, disgust ,fear because he's always saw her as an One-san ,aiko did indeed love shin as much as both hiromi and noe but she was clinging on to a small ,tiny hope which is very hopless ..she was destined to fail from the start even if she was not dating nabuse because to shin she's like he's older sister and that's why it's unhealthy because they were like siblings and they've stayed together for so long -both her and hiromi were childhood friends of him and he couid see either of them in a romantic way but for some unknown reason he never saw Ai that way maybe because she was older than him ?and she's always treated him like her brother while being in love with him at the sametime hoping that he wouid fall for her ppl who have being in love so bad wouid understand her situation and what she went through it's unhealthy not because of her feelings for shin but because of her actions/mistakes to make shin love her -calling shin her brother was a fail ,suppressing her feelings for shin was no use, using nobuse to get to shin was a fail, the whole sweater thing was a fail, throwing herself on shin was a fail and her choices and her desperte moves were non-Beneficial to her goal of wanting to be with shin..she was pushing him further with her moves and it costed her losing her friend and his trust not that i blame her for confessing though -it was killing her so much-and her guilt was becoming stronger with in each move -if her unrequited/impossible love made her do all this then yes it's 100% unhealthy -nobuse had a chance and his love was answered by aiko herself -before shin rejected her,her feelings for nobuse were mostly guilt/pity feelings(she was running a way from her feelings for nobuse nor did she dare to think a bout them because she always had the 'what if i never accepted nobuse feelings?)ironically though she was the one who suffered the most in the nabuse, shin, aiko love triangle because of her unrequited feelings for shin, her massive guilt for hurting BOTH guys, shin rejection for her ..both guys were burden to her heart and they were both the cause of her guilt, saddness, self loathing..and i did feel rlly bad for her because she was destroying herself..her screwed feelings were indeed a burden and a pain to her heart and it seems more like she wanted to get rid of it ..having to deal with her guilt for nabuse on one side and her feelings for shin on the other ... she was just a victim of love -her kissing shin under the towel and whoring herself(abandon her dignity )for him was one of the most heartbreaking scene in the anime .as for her ending up with nobuse -the writers put them back together because of nabuse and not her ,even if were to end with shin ,she still not be happy ,never was ,never will be happy because of her guilt and with nobuse she'd still feel guilty -in either relationship they'll be guilt and there's no way she cannot feel guilty . - she and jun from true tears had the most destructive feelings and they surpressed thier feelings more than the other's (hiromi only surpressed her feelings for one year ) (tragic fate) in my opinion cuz shin and hiormi r not siblings after all -her feelings for shin were full of lies and guilt unlike nobuse and noe who came off as pure ,both hiromi and shin had the same amount of love who for eachother but it became a mess because of the mum -jun and aiko's feelings were full of guilt-jun because of his feelings for his sis and aiko because of her feelings for an impossible love but yeah jun had it rlly bad..she reminds a lot of Satsuki Kitaouji from ichigo 100 - idunno why ..lolll but that just how i see things .. ur right a bout shin and noe,she was closer to him than hiromi but hiromi was the one he loved all the time .. all three girls are tragic..loll... |

Yup, I agree. No chance for Aiko. Never meant to be. Very sad for Aiko, but yeah, at least had Mabuse. Aiko's just a victim of circumstance. The guy would always be by her side anyway, so I'm glad. I don't think Shin was that compatible with her anyway, but Mabuse was much cooler than that Shint. At least I was slightly satisfied that Jun told him off in the end. I don't know about her being tragic though, but I guess opinions differ. Tragic was more like Noe or maybe even Hiromi. Clannad's Nagisa or Lelouch from Code Geass were tragic characters too. To me, tragic is something that cannot be controlled, often involving a death, abuse or illness. But that's just me, I might be wrong. |

Wow, now that you mentioned the authors, I have to say I'm quite surprised. It seems Aiko is a much deeper a character than many people give her credit for. I always thought the main reason the writers included her in was either to fill in more screen time, or just to increase Shinichirou's chastity and ahem...faithfulness and make him look good. Also to give more character to his best friend and therefore give a more realistic setting for the whole anime. But never knew the writers put so much thought into her character. I always thought that situation was Noe's, because people often said she was strange and her brother mentioned something about her being all alone. Looks like a little irony doesn't hurt a good story, aye? Aiko got a great ending because she moved on from Shin. Yeah, hats down to the girl for moving on after sacrificing so much... Miyokichi was better anyway. Hmmm... DramaCD, future fates of the three heroines.... want it. ^^ , found your comparison with Satsuki from Ichigo 100% humorous to say the least. We don't know what really happened in the end, but we do know Manaka chose all three girls in a way. Haha. Anime at least, manga could be different. @Animesuki... haha, brings back memories, all that shipping. Maybe I should revisit the site.. |

jahrakal2009 said: foxy12 said: yeah,i know that her fate is not as tragic as hiromi or noe but -in my opinion hiromi's situation wouid be more tragic if it was the truth..lolll-if always wondered why aiko doesn't have anyfrinds besides shin and nabuse -no one rlly visits her shop and now i know the answer -the writers wanted to let us know that aiko was this girl who gave up on life and herself for shin-she caved in for him-she didn't care for herself or anyone but shin ,she dictated herself and her time for shin ,the writer said that aiko was this girl who wanted it to try more and so she became stronger and stronger because she wanted to fit in like the other girls and have meaning in shin's life resulting in forgetting herself and those who cared for her like nabuse getting hurt while hurting herself -he said that she was deprived from her soal because of her emptiness which is the truth -she felt empty and that's why the writers portrayed aiko to be this lonely person without anyfriends cuz she wasted herself and her soal for shin and when he rejected her ,she woke up and realized that it was a mistake and that's why she was happy that she left shin at ep 10 cuz she din't like her old self and became a different person she asked nabuse if he wanted to be friends with a gd looking girl and not aiko cuz she hated her old self and wanted to leave the old aiko behind i guess .nabuse's main problem was that he fell in love with a messed up girl who'sn't rlly happy with herself or her life even though he tried so much ,he still coudn't make her happy with his great loving ,her love for shin coudn't make her happy ..she just coudn't be happy weather it was shin or nabuse beacuse of her fate.. aiko's mistake was that she fell in love with only her heart and not her mind -she wasn't thinking at all ..going after someone u know u don't have a chance with is a disease,if nabuse was desperate for aiko's love then she too was desperate for shin's love ,she and nobuse had the same situation.. in my opinion when love is destructive it can be tragic and ai situation was tragic because she was too blinded with the wrong person and was deprived from her soul like the writer said and shin never looked at her as a woman and she was always destined to fail and lose everything because of that vital love at least he was conflicted with noa.both hiormi and noe were happy at the end -noe got her tears and hiormi got her love.and even if she was happy at the end of the anime it's because she and nabuse r just friends and nothing more .if she fell in love with nabuse .the guilt will come back to haunt her .in real life girls like aiko usually end becoming alone /sad/with nothing left but guilt .but in the anime aiko got a happy ending but that's because the writers gave nabuse a happy ending and not her and even if it was meant to be for both -she's still won't be happy but she will get over it -she made the choice to go back to nabuse because she needed him and wants to atone and make up for nabuse or she was just lonely .. and i wouidn't say ur wrong a bout the word tragic .. and ai was just seeking for pity love from shin -wanting to satisfy herself .but it's just my opinion and i'm not gonna say ur wrong either-many ppl at animesuki view the aiko, nobuse situation as tragic because they were both holding on to a hope on love when there was non to begin with (taiking a bout Ai) and sacrifised the most in this show all for love -he won aiko because he was thinking with his brain but she lost it all because she was blind...that's how i see things though ... there's Drama CD for the show (future of the girls )very touching stories .. Anime at least, manga could be different. @Animesuki... haha, brings back memories, all that shipping. Maybe I should revisit the site.. yes , aiko rlly is a much deeper character than everyone thought she was ,she was not just there to be the filler girl and ur reasons for including her are also right ,she was there to give shin confusion and make the story more realsitic but they're other reasons for including her which the 'moving on from your first love because it's unhealthy ' the writers used the destiny card with her,the reason the writers gave her less screen time play was also intentional -they wanted aiko to try more and lose so she can move on -if u re-watch the show u wouid noticed that most of the time she was there it was pure angest -she wasn't supposed to be a contender to shin's heart as everyone thought she was ,most ppl say she's useless because shin never looked at her because they view the show as some sort of competition and that's why i say she's more realistic because she lost-also because it's called true tears -they needed the girl with unrequited love (she was real ,that's why she's different than most third harem girls)-hiromi's fanservice was the filler time...loll someone at animesuki wrote this - I have a good idea of what this show has been trying to do so far—developing three types of love with each relationship: the forbidden, the unrequited, and the pure love. The forbidden label between Shin and Hiromi is more than obvious after the sixth episode when some Act of God has become the obstacle between the two of them. Ai-chan falls into the unrequited category when she is the only one harboring feelings for that especial person—with the hope that he will eventually fall for her. Noe’s love is certainly pure with the way she was trying to understand her own feelings or with the way she was forcing Shin to write down his love for her—curious, insecure and yet very hopeful. All these situations ultimately lead to the theme of tears—in which more than one is going to be hurt as result another one said - another reason why i think she's there is someone wrote moving from your first love , which may be rather unhealthy and based more on your fantasies than on the beloved themselves, and instead finding someone else who is a far better partner and who you come to love simply for the person they actually are(as true love should be) the theme that sometimes the person you should move onto is someone who was there all along but you never really considered them because of your infatuation with someone else. The Shin/Noe/Hiromi/Jun love square can’t really capture that aspect and so Ai and Nobuse are brought in, because for Ai to move on from her infatuation with Shin, she first must confess to him and be rejected, thus keeping her from wondering forever what might have been and just “settling” for Nobuse. another one said that - I'm going to start off with the premise that the writers intended for us to really understand 6 characters: Shin, Noe, Hiromi, Jun, Aiko and Nobuse. I think of these six, they wanted us to take the group of Shin, Noe, Hiromi, and Jun as being the most "unrealistic" at the start in that they were caught up in webs of lies and falsehoods that were keeping them far more chained than most "real people" and indeed more like a fictional drama. On the other hand, Aiko and Nobuse were meant to be caught up in the most "realistic" web of lies in that their relationship to the other 4 was pretty much something you could easily see in the "real world". I'd go one step further to argue that not having Aiko (or Nobuse) present would cripple the show's relativity to real life because those two tie the other characters to a sense of realism in the same way that the execution ties the rest of the show to a realistic portrayal. Without Aiko, we wouldn't have a realistically portrayed female in the series in my opinion and that's why the writers portrayed aiko to be this love-sick girl/emotinaly conflicted who was chasing a dream and refused to face reality ,everything the writers put aiko through was INTENTIONAL..and that's why the writers made her as one of the three girls and put so much thought on her as well.she admited that shin had no feelings for her leaving noe and hiromi behind and that's why she is relevant to the story as the other characters ... her story was more of a destiny thing rlly and because she had the least problem -she was very hard to read .true tears is divided into two plots the main one(shen, heromie, noe and jun) and the secondary one (shen, aiko, nabuse)u might ask why is the she even in the title ?my aswer is beacause she's one of the girls with a troubled feelings just like heromie and noe and she too was fighting many conflicts with her feelings .. it's a shame that ppl missunderstood her character alot - if u focus on her ,the writers did an amzing job on her character rlly -lolll ur comment on her givin nobuse more character-it's as if ur saying nobuse is more deeper than her -nobuse wasn't as messed up as her-he was there to save aiko from her unrequited love and her desperate past but he was a deep character too ..he was her comfort and just like she was shin's .. and ur right a bout noe ,she too was deprived from her soul in a way and she too was trying to fit in -she was strange and alone (ur right )but she didn't have self-loathing -she loved herself for who she was -she she was scared of changing i guess(more like she was a fraid of growing up and facing the real world)her feelings of love for shin were ttly new to her -noe coud feel love ,happiness ,sadness, madness but didn't know what it was so she was strong -she was conflicted between her feelings for shin and not wanting to change herself into something she didn't knew what it was i guess .if shin didn't hint to her that she had romantic feelings for him and tought her what love-she wouidn't have sufferd so much but it was needed to be done as it was the only way she couid get her tears back.. Ai was self-destructive as hiromi was and she was deprived from her soul because she was cruel to herself and was going againt her destiny -she knew it was coming all a long (losing everything )but refuse to accept it -she too conlficted with her feelings -she had a conflict between her love for shin and wanting to love nabuse ,she had a conflict between her love for shin and accepting his future with hiromi ,she had a conflict in her heart between what's right and wrong, she had a conflict between her love for shin and not wanting thier sister/brother relationships to fade ,she had a huge conflict (the main one)between her feelings for shin and her guilt and not wanting to hurt nabuse by pursing shin-she rlly was a mess if ask me ,no wonder why she made mistakes, hiromi had tomoyo, shin had nobuse, noe had her brother but all the time before nobuse found out she liked shin -who did she have ? lolll-satsuki was my fav character and i felt for her the most ..lolll and i will send the drama CD ^ ^ i wrote too much ..lolll |

It needs more love I guess. ^^ Those are some great observations from animesuki, particularly the one where each heroine represented a different type of love. I bet this series will be 10x more meaningful for people who have already experienced what the characters in True Tears went through, though statiscally speaking not many people are made orphans at such a young age and what not, but these are things in life that we would go through eventually to say the least. I felt really sad for many characters, particularly Aiko, and I probably would feel the same if that happened in real life. Yes, they (Staff at P.A. works and writers) did a good job at developing Aiko and putting a much more realistic setting, although she was a little less developed thant the other two, but no matter. I'm glad it was intenttional and not just some random filler girl to increase the character count and fanbase, a trait that is all too prevalent in anime these days. Just a case of being there for the sake of being there. In this way, I still think this show has got one of the best cast of characters that I've since, I don't know when. H+C maybe? You could be right, she probably might have been a deeper character than Miyokichi, but I felt they complemented each other very well, making both characters complete. Hmm... remind me to learn how to add a spoiler tag in the near future...XD Ahhh... look how deep the characters are. Even seemingly simple and side characters can't fully be explained with a few sentences. That's the beauty of a good anime, well fleshed-out characters coupled with excellent writing and development. Regardless, Aiko still rocks. And True Tears is one of the few anime that will always hold a special place for me. Thanks for wanting to send the drama cd. Really, thank you very much indeed, but it's alright. But don't need to trouble yourself further. I will make it mine very soon, lol. Besides, my goal is to fill my anime shelf, and this will be a welcome addition, gg. Don't remember much about Ichigo 100% but I did like Satsuki. My favourite was Aya though. Very generic, but that's just me. You could say I don't mind harem, echi and VN adaptations as much as most people, but every once in a while, a series coming out from this genre will surprise us. TT is simply one such example. P.S. sorry for going waaayyyy of topic. I probably should post in the thread you made. |

Yes,true tears is heavy stuff and it has has very deep/emo charactes ,we don't often see that in harem animes ,i don't mind harem/ecchie either ,there r some series one's like shuffle, canvas,da capo -i like those drama/romance/tragic/love triangle animes..true tears falls into the KGNE,school days,White album, honey and clover train wreck animes catogary and i'm not rlly into comedy -there those fanservice harems like rosario vampire, green green, love love which sucks rlly but u watch for wasting time and comedy loll ..true tears is very special and it's definitely on my top 10..And yes the the show wouid be more meaningful for people who have experienced these situations indeed (i haven't but i feel i ca relate to the characters ) The Writers and P.A works did a great job on exploring those desperate ppl and everyone got what they deserave, hiormi is able to smile again after releasing all those painful feelings that she kept inside after suffering for one whole year ,Noe found herself(her lost soul)and that most precious thing she's being searching for years and made new friends and is no longer a stranger,Aiko found that missing piece to fill her heart and she found true love standing right infront after she's was pursing something impossible for years.might not be the best end for these girls but they're able to smile again and find happiness which is what this show was all a bout,it was a never a Noe Vs hiromi game show (lol i didn't care for the ending and all that shippin war between Noe and hiromi cuz i'm more of an aiko fan )shin got hiromi to open up and he finished the picture book, our favourite sidekick nobuse got his Aiko, jun managed to move on from his sister complex, the mother considers hiormi as her own daughter now ,i still don't get why noe fans are upset ,what more can we ask for .. Yes ,l liked and felt sorry for all the characters but i felt sad for aiko a bit more than hiromi and noe even though they were both in worst situation because ppl were harsh on her and was there to be a loser and din't even get a real chance. i felt that the writers were harsh on her making her the girl with the ill-fate/obsessive love type of girl - they shut her down so they can focus on hiromi and noe -shin was hard on her in my opinion but i don't blame him,he was shocked with her but still ..the way he rejcted Noe was different ,he was crying and it hurted him so much unlike what he did with aiko 'it's as if they're not close friends 'i think that Aiko to shin is nothing more than a friend ,he's best friend is nobuse and not Aiko .lol ,i wonder if aiko even has a best friend ?she's only friend's with nobuse now i guess ,even Noe and shin are not as close anymore .. lol,if u search the interent u'll find what seem's to be an enormous hate on for Ai-chan on many blogs and forums especially at FANSUB TV-dunno a bout voeh though. which sucks really but i think she's hated because many ppl seem to view things from Nobuse point and not her's and unlike so many girls who uses guys to forget the one's they love,Aiko was the first one to use a guy to get close to the one she liked but i don't think she's a bad person at all and was not even made by the writers to be a villain like what everyone is trying to make her out to be ,she was just troubled with her mixed feelings between both guys but she's got a number of fans at Animesuki and i'm glad they're some if not much aiko fans out there like u and i even though they're not as much as hiromi or noe. She's missundertsood by many ppl even those ppl who can anaylize characters perfectly well FAILED to undertand her character or her purpose-they ttly messed the fact that she was the destiny girl and consider her to be a waste and useless ,if ppl can understand hiormi and noe they why can they do the same with aiko -this is how some ppl see things -hiormi is tragic and selfish, noe is cute, aiko is a bitch useless person .lot's of Westerns don't like hiromi as well and don't seem to pay attention to her emotional drama-china and many Westerns blogs who can analyize characters well love hiromi as much as Westerns love noe ..poor aiko though .she's got very very little love which proves that she's a deep character,oh yeah ,i just remmbered something the writer himself said that he made her out to be more darker. the funny thing is that pp say that nobuse is importand because he's nice and aiko is not cuz she's a slut ..loll if it wasn't for aiko ,..nobuse wouid be nothin more than a comic relieve ,i wish the writers gave her more devlopment and gave us a bit info on her background .she may not be as important as hiormi or noe but she's needs understanding and love-hopefully she'll get it soon now that bandai has released true tears -more ppl will watch ..Drama CD will give her a better image a mong those many haters. The drama CD is very very touching (especially aiko's story,i was so moved by her massive guilt and her words for nobuse and the background music they used for her story and the confession was touching and very sad at some parts) though noe's story is sad ,hiormi story is the lightest..it's a gd closure for the show ,too bad many ppl r messing it ..it shouid've been an OVA..lol,they gave aiko the best story cuz she didn't get as much as the other girls in the anime I liked all ichigo girls ,i'm not the type to hate a character rlly and i look at the motivations first before i judge I guess u couid say i'm attached to those realistic characters who get lots of hate like say sekai from school days and mitsuki form KGNE,in true tears i was attached to aiko cuz she was realistic and made mistakes like both sekai and mitsuki ,hiromi is tragic and i felt super sorry for her but she was not as realistic but i liked her a lot too ... |

Yes, this is like one of those 1% of harem anime where there is actual substance, enough to make a good, even excellent series. Yes, KGNE was very much like TT, probably the closest to date, and also the reason why I picked up this series. As to your comment about experiencing such things, I haven't really experienced a love triangle situation or trying to comfort anybody (yes, I'm cold) but the anime was good enough so that I actually felt like I could connect with the characters enough. Hiromi... In the last episode, when she could finally do a full splitwas one of the more defining moments of her character and it certainly concluded her character development, because it was at that point that she was able to overcome her selfishness, and realise that she was not the only one Shin loved. Props to Hiromi for entirely changing my view of her and becoming more human as time progressed. The drama cd sure brought a different perspective to each chaacter as we were able to see them in a different light, which I would discuss in the other thread later. It really is a shame that Aiko was not well developed enough and had to few scenes to avoid the undeveloped tag. I personally thought that they could have and should have done more with her character but given the time span of the TT anime, this seems a demanding ask. Either way, she fitted into the unrequited love theme quite well, and the creators did succeed in making me feel sad for her. Also, her arc in the drama section was very good, but because this is not mainstream, she will continue to be this hated character by everyone. I thought it humanised and explained her character extremely well, would love to check the veoh and other discssion sites, because your observations are quite accurate, in the blogosphere at least. Glad she and Miyokichi finally started to get along with each other though. I particularly liked the scene where they were started anew as friends, and the sign on the shop said closed in the beginning but opened at the end of the series. And you were right, I hated Shin's treatment of her. It was quite cold and unsympathetic if you ask me, but perhaps it was good for her in the long run. Noe... I think Noe fans are upset because they failed to see the purpose and story behind TT. It was not just any romance/love story, but one with an actual plot. About finding one's tears and being able to truly fly. Noe became an emotionally complete person, her brother moved on. The ending was good, and that's all there is to it. Haha, I preferred Haruka in KGNE to Mitsuki, because unlike Hiromi, I don't think Mitsuki was misunderstood or complex, but more on the lines of poorly developed and explained. At least in Hiromi's case we can understand where she is cming from, she is able to learn and try to make herself better. She has a consccience, which the same can't be said for Mitsuki. Even though she was not exactly what I would call realistic, well, at least she was explained quite well I guess. Aiko's still the most realistic of the three though, a shame they did not put more into her character int he regular anime series....but at least she got better rewarded in the drama cd. |

I also can't believe how some ppl can rate the anime Clannad over this ,It's strange how ppl compare Hiormi,Aiko and Noe to the girls of clannad .True tears girls were nothing like Clannad .They were real/unstable/conflicted/very emotional/self-destructive characters ,Clannad girls were flaweless and fictional but don't get me wrong I liked the girls of clannad very much .In fact Clannad had some sad plots like (Fuko,Nagisa and Kotomi)and if it was not for Nagisa, clannad wouid fail on the tragic aspect in my opinion.Clannad has some sad parts but it was nothing like true tears when it came to romance and drama .It seem 'd like an all age show that I even made my younger siblings watch it with me (lol)and they ended up laughing the whole time though Clannad after story did it charm on the romantic/drama aspect but still not to the level of true tears .True tears is a very a dark/psycological anime that deals a lot with inner feelings ,clannad on the other hand is a bright anime to me with some sad plots although sun-hora was fun to watch but I wouidn't recommend this for romance like KGNE,school days,da capo, canvas, kimikiss because clannad doesn't rlly focus on love triangles that much (please don't hate me )but it's a very well done show after all but it was more of a slice of life show .. Hiromi is a very complex character but i don't think she did anything wrong ,her selfishness was due to how the mum treated her that made her who she was ,i was not angry at her at all like some ppl were because her actions were ttly human .lot's of ppl (manily the younger one's )don't seem to focus on her emotional drama and they like Noe over her because they like perfection.Hiromi cried the most on this show ep 4,6,8,9,10,12,13 but the writers did an amazing job on showing the emotions of Noe as well as the other characters even though they didn't cry much but were all in pain ,i wouidn't say Hiromi suffered the most or Noe suffered the most like other ppl because to me they all suffered too much and they were very wounded by thier own feelings .Fear was one of the main factors that prevented these characters from sayin what they wanted to say.As for the leg split,i though it was one of those sexy Hiromi fanservice but ur right it had to do with her character development .In the last ep when Shin asked Hiromi out ,why did she say no the first time ? I understand u haven't being in these situations but if u had an emotionaly conflicted/troubled girlfriend like Hiromi or even Ai ,how wouid react if u were on Shin and Nobuse position ?even though i'm not a male but I guess i'll be there for her and help her eventhough some ppl might not act the way nobuse did but he was trying to save Ai from her doom .. Did u like the Drama CD ? Hmm, lol, I actually thought Makoto got what he deserved. It's very rare that I actually feel such a strong animosity to a main character, but he surely did stand out as a very hateable character, if I could say so myself. Yes, True Tears was quite an emotional ride, much like KGNE, but School Days was more on the lines of perversion. I didn't think it was bad, but I just thought it could be so much better, I wouldn't rate Clannad over this, AS was slightly better than Clannad, but it's hard to say Clannad as whole (AS + original) was actually better than this. Like you said, Clannad fitted into the Slice of Life and Drama category, quite a fair bit more than the romance category; which was the core of True Tears, emphasis on drama having a close second. Also, props to True Tears for giving the characters a truly real and believable feel, even characters like Noe were well explained with a darker reason to her eccentric behaviour. Ahh, Clannad, it was an anime with a theme of family, so that in itself was very SoLish. In this way, it was meant to be very touching, showing the cause and effects, as well as the strengths, joys and pains of a family, as well as the negative consequences of a family divided. Needless to say, romance was definitely not a main theme for this particular series, and the characters were mainly gimmicks and were objects used to denote a symbolic theme of family rather than the developing, constantly changing and sometimes dark and frightening characters of True Tears. I too, enjoyed Clannad very much, but as a series, I just think it has wider appeal than True Tears, but it is certainly not a better series. Although I did like Nagisa and Tomoyo. Hiromi... What a complex character indeed. I think we can write pages about her, and yet not fully understand her. I agree that she shed alot of tears, as indicated by Shinichirou's comments in the first episode of how she was always crying. I initially found her cold and uncaring, much like how some people felt at the True Tears discussion in www.stoptazmo.com. But with time, she grew on me, and I thought she became more and more of an understanding person. You are right in that a majority of the younger people feel she is not very likeable, because she is quite difficult to understand and see from her perspective. This often applies to people who are generally young or do not really put much effort to read into her character more deeply. Perhaps the legsplit was done out of fan service. Perhaps. But I think it also played an important role also because she mentioned this (her ability to finally split) to Shin. This indicates that she was able to finally accept to sides of the coin, realise that there were (2) women in Shin's life, hence the split symbolism. We can then use this as an explanation as to why she rejected Shin's offer the first time round. In other words, she was trying to tell Shin subconsciously that she had matured enough and was able to let go of Shin in favour of Noe (The reference to the picture book is another key indicator of this). Basically, she" knows" and finally understands how important Noe is to Shin. If I were Shin, I'd probably help her out with all I can. Of course, the situation is very complex, but I would just make sure I'd be there to support Hiromi. Likewise, I definitely "would not" say I love you to Noe the minute I got dumped, but just try to be a friend. If I were Nobuse, well, he did all he could. I think what he did was the best most people could do given the stuation. As for the drama cd... Loved it Loved it Loved it Loved it Lol. |

I initially found her cold and uncaring, much like how some people felt at the True Tears discussion in http://www.stoptazmo.com. School days was not bad but it was way too preverted ,It almost felt like a Hentai (I felt dirty while i was watching this) although I did feel a bit for mokoto but not as much cuz he didn't care for anyone but himself .I'm not sure if death was the answer though ,was it too much for him ?but i think that the characters went way too far with thier actions really .I felt for Sekai, katanoha and Setsuna .. why do you think that true tears characters are frightening ?Are you taiking a bout Jun ? Hiormi indeed might be the most complex character on TT -she keeps on shifting back and forth with her feelings - ep 2- she lied about wanting to be friends with Noe but why did she lie ? ep 3- she lied a bout her feelings for shin -she was trying her best to forget a bout him by her 'I love number 4 excuse' but part of her still wanted to love shin and she even lied a bout the festival .. ep 4- she asked shin on why he was ignoring her and broke into tears -maybe she wanted shin to focus on her a bit because of the situation that had been going on between him and Noe . ep 5- she took him to the beach and invited him over to her room wanting some attention from him but she got rlly pissed and kicked him out of her room because he mentioned Jun's name a gain . ep 6- That was the hit u in the face ep as it was reveled that she and shin were siblings and once again Hiromi broke into tears it as if she was relieved that she got rid of the burden .. ep 8- she treated Noe in the same manner that the mum treated her and asked Jun to take her to a town where it doesn't snow .. After reading some of the post at animesuki,It's painfully clear that shin was the cause of her massive pain and saddness -she hated the fact that he was not there for her when she needed him the most ,she hated the fact that he didn't get the hint that she liked him(Baka),she hated the fact that she had to lie for his sake ,she hated the fact that he hooked her up with jun ,she hated that memory of them ,she hated the fact that he was a burden to her heart ,she hated that he caused her pain because of her unrequited feelings for him maybe she was jealous of him because he never experienced her situation and that's why he coudn't understand what she was going through(he's a mama's boy..lol).Ep 2,3,4,5 showed us that she was trying to get attention from him because she wanted him to confess his feelings to her so she can admit the truth and be relieved but at the same it showed us that she was trying her best to avoid him because she didn't want to hurt his feelings or cause problems for the family at the price of her own happiness (it's was a shin happiness or her own happiness sitution)in ep 6-she just couidn't take it anymore and felt relieved that she let it out and was able to share this with Shin(much like Ai was when she told Nobuse the truth) but she was extremely sad and even cried calling herself a terrible person because she caused Shin pain and for sacrafising her own happiness.. I understand the mum's situation and I do feel sorry for her but she had no idea how much she screwed Hiromi's life and feelings with that lie ,poor girl was just very very conflicted/troubled and had so many obstacles going on a gainst her,she was just living in the past of her's and shin which she hated very much and was lonely at heart .. I just can't beleive that some ppl dislike Hiromi so much ,I liked her a lot and felt very bad for her and just wanted her to be with Shin.she was in the worst situation than all the three girls and needed understanding.. Much like Aiko who sacrifised/made mistakes with her own guilt by waiting for Shin even though she knew who he truly loved but she was like Hiormi wanting attention from him while lying to him at the sametime like Hiromi did (Hiromi and Aiko are very much a like ).Shin was bad for Aiko because of what she was doing to herself .she felt guilty and regreted not just hurting Nobuse but she regretted falling in love with shin as well (so many things) ..she regretted giving up on shin for hiromi ,she regretted not been honest with him about her feelings .she lothed herself a lot because she hurted NObuse and was using him to get close to shin .she regretted wasting her life for shin, she regretted doing things behind Nobuse back ,she regretted giving shin that kiss while still been Nobuse girlfriend.like Hiormi she hated the fact that Nobuse refused to let her go and relieve her but the poor girl very well knew that she was destined to fail from the start -she knew the nature of shin's feelings for Hiromi .. Hiromi was unloadin her unhappiness on Shin and Ai was unloading her unhappiness on Nobuse wanting comfort from them .. Noe sacrifised alot as well too by acceptin the fact that shin loved Hiromi and not her,by bottling up all the saddness inside ..poor girl though the writers put her through so much with her situation .. And your right a bout the leg split and yeah maybe that's why she rejected Shin that first time because she was able to overcome her selfishness.. Not many ppl wouid do what Nobuse did if u ask me and I know that many ppl who dislike Ai didn't like the ending as they think that Ai doesn't deserave to have a happy ending but it's not like Ai wanted to become his girlfriend right a way as she knew herself that she was not that deserving of his love yet and wanted to make it all up for Nobuse first and in the Drama CD it showed her working very hard to gain his love and trust and trying to make up for the past but I have a question -In the anime did Nobuse take back Ai out of pity ?cuz she did say this in the Drama CD I have returned to Miyokichi not because of my heartbreak after been rejected. It is not because of me been lonely. It is also not because I wanted to cling onto a hope, and be consoled by you after getting hurt so does that mean that Ai thought that Nobuse took her back out of pity in the anime and she didn't mind it because she wanted to be friends with nobuse no matter what even though he felt sorry for her ..cuz it seem's that way .. oh and I'm glad u loved the Drama CD.. |

Modified by jahrakal2009, 05-19-09, 4:41 PM sorry, I didn't read this earlier .. Yeah ,they couid've worked more with her character rlly but what couid they have done when her story was just not the main story but it's not like she was not fully developed -she was given time to fall into depression because of her conflicts like the rest of the characters(her screen time play was enough to show us her situation ) yeah ,she got a great drama CD story though but the fact that she was hated proved that many ppl missunderstood her purpose and she was a deep character with many conflications as well kinda like Moa from kimikiss, earlier u said that u thought that Ai was there to increase the fanbase( more Ai fans)but if that was the case ,then we wouid be seeing lots of Ai fans out there and the writers wouidn't have made her this realistic girl because many ppl hate realistic girls -she wouid be this flawless girl like sakura from ccs(the writers didn't Add her to increase the fanbase)but the writers made her to be the most flawed girl of the three.she was darker than the others and more symbolic like the writer said cuz we don't know nothing a bout her.I don't expect much love in the future for her either which is sad really and there will always be more and more Noe fans in the future as well as Hiromi -maybe the writer himself knew that Ai's character will not get as much love because she was very realistic character and he made her darker for the fans to understand ,Still ,she had a quite powerfull scenes in comparison to both Hiromi and Noe and she did grew the most out of all the characters as she Abandoned her dreams with Shin and moved on but in the anime it seem's like the writers gave Nobuse a happy ending and not for her because the DRAMA CD showed me that she was still unhappy because she was suffering alot from the guilt because she did mention the word hurt/pain a lot unlike Hiormi and Noe. In the anime everyone thought that she was happy cuz ppl wanted Nobuse to have a happy endin and not her but I knew she was not fully happy and I was right because the drama CD proves it and she seem's to be the most wounded among the girls because she hid lot's of things from Nobuse (there was no way for her to be fully happy without feeling guilty weather it's Nobuse or Shin because that's her destiny and guilt will always be there because she's a realist and in real life ppl like Aiko don't often end up being happy unlike Hiromi and Noe who seem to be more fictional and that's why they both got a full happy ending but at the end of the drama CD she became fully happy and her character felt complete .. You said that her Character was very humanised and explained extremely well, are you taiking a bout the Anime or the Drama CD ? Her pain in the Drama CD as she said was not because of Shin but it was because of Nobuse and that's why in ep 10 of the Anime, she didn't shed a tear because she was happy that she MOVED on from shin but the guilt came back when she fell in love with Nobuse in the DRAMA CD I guess. The scene with her up at night drinkin water at the end of 10 was mostly because she was suffering from having to break up with Nobuse i guess and not because of Shin as everyone thought it was. I thought she was gonna end hating Shin but she didn't .. shin was indeed harsh on her ,Hiromi was always number one in his heart and she was nothing more than a friend to shin who was not even as close to him as Nobuse or Noe ,she was not his angel like Noe nor was she like his tragic princess Hiromi -they both had reasons to be there in his dreams but he never thought of Ai even when she was not dating Nobuse -which made me believe that Ai was indeed made as this girl to be punished for fallin in love and trying so hard which is sad rlly cuz i don't believe that we shouid be punished for falling in love ,And I always feel for those who get punished for love and I think that this was her role and if that was the case then I do agree that her destiny was not so kind and that the writers were very harsh on her but it was for the best as it was they only way she couid move on and fix her mistake and i'm glad she did because Shin was nothing but far,far a way dream for her to reach and no matter how much she wanted to ,u can't always have what u want and that's life .. oh and I loved that scene as well and no the sign said closed and not open but i'm not sure what it means rlly, why do u think they didn't get a long at the beginin ?was it because of her guilt ?.. The only way I can see her get more love is if the writers made an OVA for the Drama CD but I don't think so as for Noe , ur right ,she rlly gained the most out of all the characters -she got her tears and became a full person -noe fans shouid be proud .. I liked both Mitsuki and Huraka rlly Even though she made mistakes and slept with his friend -she's a tragic person in my opinon and lets face it -she suffered more than huraka who slept during the pain and lost three years of her life and had her Family who shared her pain but Mitsuki had to go through with it a lone -even though she was selfish but aren't we all ?u can't fault her for what happened to her friend ,how was she to know that her friend will wake up oneday ?she was just following her heart and was suffering from both unrequited love and her guilt for ehat happened to her friend.. willyvereb-anytime ^ ^ |

Wow, I just came back and it seems quite a discussion has been a stirrin'. Well, glad that you could join the fun willyvereb. I agree with Foxy12, more people = more fun. Should try to gain more recruits to T.T cause, lol. Maybe we can raise more points for discussion that way, although Foxy12 has done much more analysis than me. Now, I'll try my best to keep up. ^^ foxy12 said: School days was not bad but it was way too preverted ,It almost felt like a Hentai (I felt dirty while i was watching this) although I did feel a bit for mokoto but not as much cuz he didn't care for anyone but himself .I'm not sure if death was the answer though ,was it too much for him ?but i think that the characters went way too far with thier actions really .I felt for Sekai, katanoha and Setsuna .. I suppose. Death was a little extreme. Although there were many people who were glad Sekai nicked him off at the end. foxy12 said: why do you think that true tears characters are frightening ?Are you taiking a bout Jun ? Yes, Jun is the perfect example. The characters sometimes portrayed a darker behaviour and would react to feelings of jealousy for instance or give in to their desires, like Aiko and Jun, but this made them all the more complex, intriguing and realistic, rather than the typical perfect happy fest cast of characters that seems to litter the place. foxy12 said: Hiormi indeed might be the most complex character on TT -she keeps on shifting back and forth with her feelings - ep 2- she lied about wanting to be friends with Noe but why did she lie ? ep 3- she lied a bout her feelings for shin -she was trying her best to forget a bout him by her 'I love number 4 excuse' but part of her still wanted to love shin and she even lied a bout the festival .. ep 4- she asked shin on why he was ignoring her and broke into tears -maybe she wanted shin to focus on her a bit because of the situation that had been going on between him and Noe . ep 5- she took him to the beach and invited him over to her room wanting some attention from him but she got rlly pissed and kicked him out of her room because he mentioned Jun's name a gain . ep 6- That was the hit u in the face ep as it was reveled that she and shin were siblings and once again Hiromi broke into tears it as if she was relieved that she got rid of the burden .. ep 8- she treated Noe in the same manner that the mum treated her and asked Jun to take her to a town where it doesn't snow .. Yes, she was a very complex and intriguing character. My take on things, although this is purely speculation on my part would be such as this: ep 2- she lied about wanting to be friends with Noe but why did she lie ? [she wanted to find out more about Noe and Shin's relationship with each other] ep 3- she lied a bout her feelings for shin -she was trying her best to forget a bout him by her 'I love number 4 excuse' but part of her still wanted to love shin and she even lied a bout the festival .. [hmm.. she shut herself off because of what Shin's mum told her. She probably chose no.4 because he was handsome and a basketballer, which would put Shin down] ep 4- she asked shin on why he was ignoring her and broke into tears -maybe she wanted shin to focus on her a bit because of the situation that had been going on between him and Noe . [yes, I agree here] ep 5- she took him to the beach and invited him over to her room wanting some attention from him but she got rlly pissed and kicked him out of her room because he mentioned Jun's name a gain . [because Shin was insensitive and she was frustrated with herself more than anything for making up the lie] ep 6- That was the hit u in the face ep as it was reveled that she and shin were siblings and once again Hiromi broke into tears it as if she was relieved that she got rid of the burden .. [she mentioned something about her being a terrible person, in a way she was glad because she got to avoid worrying about Shin anymore, but at the same time she hurt Shin, who she loved] ep 8- she treated Noe in the same manner that the mum treated her and asked Jun to take her to a town where it doesn't snow ..[she shares similar characteristics with teh mother, probably because Shin's mother was her role model] foxy12 said: After reading some of the post at animesuki,It's painfully clear that shin was the cause of her massive pain and saddness -she hated the fact that he was not there for her when she needed him the most ,she hated the fact that he didn't get the hint that she liked him(Baka),she hated the fact that she had to lie for his sake ,she hated the fact that he hooked her up with jun ,she hated that memory of them ,she hated the fact that he was a burden to her heart ,she hated that he caused her pain because of her unrequited feelings for him maybe she was jealous of him because he never experienced her situation and that's why he coudn't understand what she was going through(he's a mama's boy..lol).Ep 2,3,4,5 showed us that she was trying to get attention from him because she wanted him to confess his feelings to her so she can admit the truth and be relieved but at the same it showed us that she was trying her best to avoid him because she didn't want to hurt his feelings or cause problems for the family at the price of her own happiness (it's was a shin happiness or her own happiness sitution)in ep 6-she just couidn't take it anymore and felt relieved that she let it out and was able to share this with Shin(much like Ai was when she told Nobuse the truth) but she was extremely sad and even cried calling herself a terrible person because she caused Shin pain and for sacrafising her own happiness.. Yes, that mother made it into everyne's hate list somehow. Says alot about her character and what a good villain (presumably) she is. Great parallels that you have there of Hiromi and Ai and their treatment of Shin and Nobuse. And your right a bout the leg split and yeah maybe that's why she rejected Shin that first time because she was able to overcome her selfishness.. Felt sorry for all of them, but Noe's a very good character imo, because she was the one that tied everyoine together in this story, and the theme of True Tears was carried around her. At the end of the anime, I was sad because that meant the end of Noe and her eccentric behavior. She was quite sacrificial and blatantly honest throughout the series, which was her redeeming feature. foxy12 said: Not many ppl wouid do what Nobuse did if u ask me and I know that many ppl who dislike Ai didn't like the ending as they think that Ai doesn't deserave to have a happy ending but it's not like Ai wanted to become his girlfriend right a way as she knew herself that she was not that deserving of his love yet and wanted to make it all up for Nobuse first and in the Drama CD it showed her working very hard to gain his love and trust and trying to make up for the past but I have a question -In the anime did Nobuse take back Ai out of pity ?cuz she did say this in the Drama CD I have returned to Miyokichi not because of my heartbreak after been rejected. Miyokichi represented the ideals and the best of what some people were capable of. His loyalty and devotion to someone he loves of curse would be very rare behavior in real life, and as you say, very, very few will do this. It's easier to say but very hard to do, especially after getting rejected. Of course, what he does would be easier if there's somebody that you truly loved and that was the only person that you love. You then would have a case and act as he did. But what he did was definately very difficult, if impossible to outdo. foxy12 said: sorry, I didn't read this earlier .. I thought she was gonna end hating Shin but she didn't .. oh and I loved that scene as well and no the sign said closed and not open but i'm not sure what it means rlly, why do u think they didn't get a long at the beginin ?was it because of her guilt ?.. The only way I can see her get more love is if the writers made an OVA for the Drama CD but I don't think so as for Noe , ur right ,she rlly gained the most out of all the characters -she got her tears and became a full person -noe fans shouid be proud .. I liked both Mitsuki and Huraka rlly Even though she made mistakes and slept with his friend -she's a tragic person in my opinon and lets face it -she suffered more than huraka who slept during the pain and lost three years of her life and had her Family who shared her pain but Mitsuki had to go through with it a lone -even though she was selfish but aren't we all ?u can't fault her for what happened to her friend ,how was she to know that her friend will wake up oneday ?she was just following her heart and was suffering from both unrequited love and her guilt for ehat happened to her friend.. willyvereb-anytime ^ ^ The tragic guilt-ridden heroine is the title that befits Aiko the most, especially in the drama cd. Well, my initial thought of Ai was to increase the fanbasebecause at first it was very difficult to see her reason for being there, and like said ealier, she suffered from very little screen time, thus diminshing her development. I liked your interpretation of Ai, and it gives her so much more character and complexity than she is often given credit for. I think you are very correct in making her the most flawed of the three characters, although almost evey character in TT is flawed to a certain extent hence their realism and surrealism. Ai developed the most by the end, because she showed the most growth, when compared to screentime, although Noe had not so much creentime as well, if I'm not mistaken. But love the darker, deeper and more enigmatic nature and aura surrounding Ai. You are right in that her fanbase will be very limited because of how she was portayed, and won't rise as fast as the other two. But last time I checked animesuki, she was the third most popular character (2nd actually because I think Noe tied with Hiromi) so maybe that's good news? But I also agree that she was used metaphorically and symbolically. She did give more to the Miyokichi guy after all and the anime ending did seem like she had a happy ending. But the drama cd changed all that, and it shows she was still guilt ridden and would probably remain so for a very long time. But I think she was also portrayed as a strong character, able to move on and carry on with the fabrics of constant spinning (borrowed from Honey and Clover) of life. In real life, people like her won't end up happy and ever sad as you have observed very well. Mad props to the writers for including this fact in the dramacd and not in the main series (this would be a heart-wrencher in the anime and give that nasty, unjustified sad feeling for Aiko making many people sad and dissatisfied I suppose). At least including this in the dcd would mean that those people who really understand her character won't be disappointed and accept how life goes on for her. But I also liked how you summed up the ending of the drama cd, thus completing her character, and how things happen in real life. She was explained extremely well in the dramacd. ^ ^ To sum it up, Shin's treatment was harsh, the least he could do... well, I don't know. He doesn't seem to do anything besides being stupid and insensitive. Her pain came from her guilt most of the time, while Shin didn't feel the least bit sorry for her. Cold..... I like your description. This seems like a case of the monkey and the moon, no matter how hard she tried, Shin would never be in her reach, but somewhere else, with someone else. Shin valued Hiromi because he wanted to comofrt her and Noe because she comforted him, but Ai was invisible to him for the most part and just a friend. oh and I loved that scene as well and no the sign said closed and not open but i'm not sure what it means rlly, why do u think they didn't get a long at the beginin ?was it because of her guilt ?.. I interpretated it was sign of moving on. it was closed right now because her heart was till closed at te moment, hence why she could only view Nobuse as a friend. It's because the shop is too early to open at the moment, so that's why it closes, "hence why she stated something about starting with something small". As time passes by, the shop would open Not sure if the final episode had the shop door as open? I might be wrong here, haha I'm all for the OVA and Ai getting more love. Seems like the only way to me too. "Even though she made mistakes and slept with his friend -she's a tragic person in my opinon and lets face it -she suffered more than huraka who slept during the pain and lost three years of her life and had her Family who shared her pain but Mitsuki had to go through with it a lone -even though she was selfish but aren't we all ?u can't fault her for what happened to her friend ,how was she to know that her friend will wake up oneday ?she was just following her heart and was suffering from both unrequited love and her guilt for ehat happened to her friend" As for Mitsuki, yes people hated her because she was misunderstood. Falling into depression and all that, which was caused by guilt more than unrequited love (although she probably did think it was unrequited and she was Haruka's replacement). But your words ring true, although I know it's wrong to fault her for all this, as she did suffer and have a tragic life, I just felt she was like, the strangest and most unpredicatble/unexplained main character in KGNE, although Takayuki not having a family and all isn't much better. But she was a sad character with a sad story overall. I think the main guy never really loved the sleeping girl, and it was Mitsuki all along. He just felt guilty and obligated to help the coma girl because he felt he was responsible for this mess. |

Welcome back jahrakal2009 and a Igree with you –more ppl=more fun. jahrakal2009 said: I suppose. Death was a little extreme. Although there were many people who were glad Sekai nicked him off at the end. In the end, he did say thank goodness but what did he mean by that? Was it his guilt? jahrakal2009 said: Yes, Jun is the perfect example. The characters sometimes portrayed a darker behaviour and would react to feelings of jealousy for instance or give in to their desires, like Aiko and Jun, but this made them all the more complex, intriguing and realistic, rather than the typical perfect happy fest cast of characters that seems to litter the place. Yeah, you forgot Hiromi(her freaky eyes on ep 12) but your example fits Aiko and Jun more I suppose ,They were more darker than the others and they both behaved in freaky/dark /aggressive ways because of their desires/unhealthy feelings like Ai going nuts on ep 7 and Jun attempts to kiss Noe .Lol ,some ppl consider Jun to be the baddest of the guys and Aiko the baddest of the girls but I don't think so ,they were just misunderstood and had the most destructive feelings (full of guilt)all characters got what they wanted cept for these two (talking about the Anime)and guilt is bound to hunt them for the rest of their lives ,Jun because of his feelings for his sis and Aiko for wasting herself on an impossible love and hurting Nobuse..I feel sorry for both of them because they made more mistakes than (Noe,Hiromi,Shin and Nobuse) .Lol ,imagine if Aiko ended up with Jun ?NO WAY ..Aiko belongs with Nobuse and Jun will find someone that loves him after he's healed...and i agree it gave the character a different feelings than most of ur happy /go characters i'm starting to hate ..lol foxy12 said: Hiormi indeed might be the most complex character on TT -she keeps on shifting back and forth with her feelings - jahrakal2009 said: ep 2- she lied about wanting to be friends with Noe but why did she lie ? ep 3- she lied a bout her feelings for shin -she was trying her best to forget a bout him by her 'I love number 4 excuse' but part of her still wanted to love shin and she even lied a bout the festival .. ep 4- she asked shin on why he was ignoring her and broke into tears -maybe she wanted shin to focus on her a bit because of the situation that had been going on between him and Noe . ep 5- she took him to the beach and invited him over to her room wanting some attention from him but she got rlly pissed and kicked him out of her room because he mentioned Jun's name a gain . ep 6- That was the hit u in the face ep as it was reveled that she and shin were siblings and once again Hiromi broke into tears it as if she was relieved that she got rid of the burden .. ep 8- she treated Noe in the same manner that the mum treated her and asked Jun to take her to a town where it doesn't snow .. [she mentioned something about her being a terrible person, in a way she was glad because she got to avoid worrying about Shin anymore, but at the same time she hurt Shin, who she loved] ep 8- she treated Noe in the same manner that the mum treated her and asked Jun to take her to a town where it doesn't snow ..[she shares similar characteristics with teh mother, probably because Shin's mother was her role model] your speculations on Hiromi are more accurate than mine's and your right about the mum being Hiromi's role model. I wonder what really happened in the past between Hiromi's parents and Shin's parents. Where's Hiromi's dad in all of this? jahrakal2009 said: Yes, that mother made it into everyne's hate list somehow. I don't hate the mum really and I understand her situation as well but lying to Hiromi was a little too much in my opinion. I always feel like Hiromi and Ai-chan are very much a like (they both raise blood pressure and I almost grab a hanky while watching these two –it was frustrating to watch both of them sinking deep in their romantic problems … Noe is a great character in every way ,she was the pure /honest/most mature one a mong the characters .she got the best of all the characters(Nobuse,Aiko,Hiromi,Jun and mostly Shin)it was because of her that both Hiromi and Aiko came clean with their feelings ,she was the source of their jealousy. But it was tragic cuz the she was use as a sacrifice for Hiromi and Shin's ending and yeah she became so down at the end because Shin's feelings were totally new to her and she had a hard time dealing with them and yeah I was sad for Noe too but in the drama CD (she's seem to be the same old Noe that we all know, she's still talks a bout chicken and flying .loll) and I like her a lot too ^ ^ jahrakal2009 said: Miyokichi represented the ideals and the best of what some people were capable of. But what he did was definately very difficult, if impossible to outdo.. Yes, What Miyokichi did was very very difficult, I liked that he stood by Aiko's side .If it was not for him, she'd go nuts .He was the prime Highlight of the characters next to Noe and he showed us what a great guy he is because of his loyalty to his friend and his devotion to Aiko even though she lied to him and he was used by her but he knew that and he just wanted to save Aiko like I said earlier because he knew that she was doom to fail from the start ,there' s was no one in his eyes but Aiko and No he wasn't blind or stupid but he was just like Ai lying to himself all long and not wanting to face reality –he knew that Ai had a thing for Shin since ep 4 while they were both crossing the street but he kept on ignoring this because like Ai,he was just holding on to a hope on his relationship with Ai .. Nobuse problem was that he fell in love with an emotionally conflicted girl who was never happy with herself because of her emptiness, we all liked Nobuse's kindness but she didn't like it At all because of her massive guilt (he was killing her with his great personality and kindness)Ai hated how he treated her ,she hated his nice attitude towards her ,she hated that he stayed by her side ,she hated that he was her boyfriend as she saw him as someone who's level is much higher than her(she thought that he was too good for her) but she mostly hated herself for being with someone like him and that's the reason why we see her depressed face when she's with him unloading some of her guilt and unhappiness on him cuz he was the main cause for her guilt and sadness because he refused to let her go ,the one who made her conflicted with herself it's as if she was resisting his feelings not wanting to feel guilty which was selfish act like what Hiromi did, He was a huge burden to her heart Like Shin was a huge burden to Hiromi's heart . It'll be easier for Nobuse if Aiko was more normal and had no self-loathing At the same time Ai hated herself because way deep down inside part of her wanted Nobuse as she knew that she was destined to fail and she always had the 'what I've I never went after Shin because he loved Hiromi . I don't know if Nobuse's love for Aiko was a curse though but maybe your right and Ai's love for shin was a curse too right? In ep 2 –when Nobuse called Aiko his girlfriend, she said are you stupid? I'm not sure why she said that but she never saw Nobuse as a boyfriend because of her feelings for Shin maybe... But I'm happy that she and Nobuse get a long now as Shin as not a factor anymore... jahrakal2009 said: The tragic guilt-ridden heroine is the title that befits Aiko the most, especially in the drama cd. Yes, you're right but I think that Ai is a very well-written character even though Hiromi and Noe are more complex; Ai was definitely darker and was the most difficult one to read among the girls because she was used symbolically as you said and she did have a solid plot in my opinion even if her role was a minor one.. jahrakal2009 said: But love the darker, deeper and more enigmatic nature and aura surrounding Ai I love this sentence a lot and I agree with u that Ai's love was darker and deeper than the other two because we don't know the reason for her massive feelings for Shin. Ai's love was destructive and dangerous because it almost took her to the dark side and screwed her so much and made her forget herself as well and it coasted her losing so much for trying and going against destiny in my opinion ,we know Hiromi and Noe's reasons for liking Shin but we don't Ai's reason for liking for Shin but the way she was going after Shin gave me the impression that she felt empty and wanted Shin to fell her emptiness because she was lonely as she mentioned in the Drama CD and he was her only close friend (Ai's situation was a mixture of Hiromi and Noe's situation maybe )she lives alone and she doesn't have any friends from her school .Truth is ,no one visits her shop but Nobuse and Shin ..What's your opinion on this? jahrakal2009 said: But the drama cd changed all that, and it shows she was still guilt ridden and would probably remain so for a very long time. But I think she was also portrayed as a strong character, able to move on and carry on with the fabrics of constant spinning (borrowed from Honey and Clover) of life. Yeah, her guilt is bound to hunt her and I agree that she was portrayed as a strong character but she was also very weak when it came to dealing with her feelings for Shin and not wanting to accept that harsh, cold that she was destined to lose before the rejection because her feelings were so strong and she couldn't forget and control them –she had 50% of Hiormi emo-ness and it became 100% after her desperate attempt on ep 7 when she was struggling with her feelings. But she is a strong character over all .. jahrakal2009 said: In real life, people like her won't end up happy and ever sad as you have observed very well. But I also liked how you summed up the ending of the drama cd, thus completing her character, and how things happen in real life. Ai is sad character in my opinion because she was made as this heroine to be punished for falling in love and she was a stalker/obsessed with Shin and we could say that she whored herself for Shin by her insane/desperate actions and yeah the title guilt-ridden heroine fits her the most and your right the writers didn't want to include this fact in the anime cuz lot's of ppl won't like the ending but the writers did include this fact in a way (Ai's ending was on ep 8 when Shin rejected her )the endin ep 11 ans 13 was mainly for Nobuse and not for Aiko .Nobuse happiness in the anime was a cover for Aiko sadness and it made ppl happy but the Drama CD showed us that she was still suffering from the guilt and this is was her role to be the destiny girl. Even though she got to be Nobuse's girl a gain in the drama CD, it will be very hard for both her and Nobuse, she will always feel she owes Nobuse a lot and will do whatever it takes to make up for the past (hurting herself a gain)but Nobuse will be there for her in the long run ,do u think that Ai should've ended up a lone and forgot both guys ? jahrakal2009 said: She was explained extremely well in the dramacd. ^ ^ To sum it up, Shin's treatment was harsh, the least he could do... well, I don't know. Yeah, her heart was closed but she did appreciate Nobuse as a friend and that's why it broke her heart and hurted her so much to break up with him since she never hated the guy to begin with ,when she said 'I'd improve my knitting skills' she meant that she'd try her best and make up with him I guess .. And yeah, I want the OVA as well cuz Aiko story is rlly nice in the drama CD and she needs more understanding .. As for Mitsuki, yes people hated her because she was misunderstood. What do you think that she was unexplained? And I agree with pretty much everything you said and also agree that the guy felt obligated to the sleeping girl... |

I have no problems with Aiko...her development was clear...I was a bit angry at hear at the start because she paid hardly any attention to Nobuse, but perhaps it was thanks to that i didn't see why she loved Shin that much. Funny that indirectly Noe "cured" her too. She firmly believed that no one other than Hiromi has a chance with Shin. When she noticed him with Noe then she realised that's false and she planned out her own "move" on him. When Shin refused her calmly then she knew the truth: She didn't have the chance...not that no one has a chance other than Hiromi. She thought that a while ago, but now she was sure of it and she's relieved from her long burden. jahrakal2009 said: Wow, I just came back and it seems quite a discussion has been a stirrin'. "Hiromi-mysteries": Let's see: Ep2:as you said...she wanted to be friends with her to find out the relationship between Noe and Shin. Ep3:She lied because she thought he's her half-brother. Not to mention that he suddenly appeared. She lied because if she wanted to Shin to know that then she have already told him. Ep8:She saw the situation as hopeless to cure and she tried to flee from it. Actually i watched True Tears only once so my memories of it a bit blurry. KGNE(just a little): Same thoughts. Takayuki didn't love Haruka(well...maybe he could love her if they had spent more time together before the accident happened). He just felt bound himself by guilt and responsibility. He couldn't face the present and ran away with Haruka to the past. Well...he isn't Bakayuki for nothing:p |

When Shin refused her calmly then she knew the truth: She didn't have the chance...not that no one has a chance other than Hiromi. She thought that a while ago, but now she was sure of it and she's relieved from her long burden. I agree with you on this but even though Ai lied to both guys and that some of her action were insane (the one who lied the most in this show), she really was a victim of love in my opinion and I did feel bad for her, Ai's main problem was that she fell in love with only her heart and was blinded by Shin and that's why she couldn't see anyone but him because Ai's feelings were a burden to her heart that prevented her from moving on like you said .Nobuse too was a burden to her heart (both him and shin )even though Nobuse suffered a lot in his relationship with her and it was extremely difficult for him to stay with someone who felt for his best friend as it showed in the anime. She was the one who suffered the most because of her lies for both guys, her feelings for shin, her guilt for both Nobuse and Shin. And Shin's rejection for her but that's just my opinion .Nobuse too had it really bad as he was fighting many conflicts with his feelings like Ai -his feelings for Ai or he's friendship with Shin ..they both had it hard and never stood a chance because they were holding on to a hope .. Why was she seeking for pity love?(she chose herself as second best for Shin as she knew that Hiromi was his true love ) What did Noe cure her from? What burden are you talking about? Her guilt for Nobuse or her feelings for Shin ? "Hiromi-mysteries": Let's see: Ep2:as you said...she wanted to be friends with her to find out the relationship between Noe and Shin. Ep3:She lied because she thought he's her half-brother. Not to mention that he suddenly appeared. She lied because if she wanted to Shin to know that then she have already told him. Ep8:She saw the situation as hopeless to cure and she tried to flee from it. Actually i watched True Tears only once so my memories of it a bit blurry. I agree with you here KGNE(just a little): Same thoughts. Takayuki didn't love Haruka(well...maybe he could love her if they had spent more time together before the accident happened). He just felt bound himself by guilt and responsibility. He couldn't face the present and ran away with Haruka to the past. Well...he isn't Bakayuki for nothing:p So he never loved her even before the accident ? I think that he did once but not as much as Mitsuki (they had more time together )and shared the same pain and by picking Mitsuki ,I think that he made the right choice . |

Wow this entire page has turned in to a huge wall of text and a major case of tl;dr. Especially the wallplastering people quoting each other. Way to ruin a forum thread. Learn to snip long quotes, and how to be a bit more succinct. Anyway, Hiromi still sucks. Noe was the superior option even if she is mentally retarded. |

Well certainly not the main protagnist, childhood memories I'm sorry are somewhat superior to meeting a girl out of the blue. She could also tell Noe's brother had a major sister complex even if she sounded jokey. Also Hiromi was only afraid in beginning because she thought she was the main guys younger sister because that guys mum had some issues with her (hinted perhaps the guys dad cheated or she sees her at least in beginning as some parasite) Also like any normal girl she can feel jealousy and like the main protagnist her heart sort of wavered mainly because of the main guys mother's insenstive comments. I'm just glad it didn't go for a incest ending. And yeah I'm a male Hiromi fan, it was obvious from the start to be honest. |

I liked all three girls but i'm more of an Aiko fan even though i was not rooting for her (poor girl ,doesn't have as much fans as Hiromi or Noe)and that's why I didn't care for all that shipping war because my fav girl had her own story line and never stood a chance ^ ^ |

foxy12 said: Welcome back jahrakal2009 and a Igree with you –more ppl=more fun. In the end, he did say thank goodness but what did he mean by that? Was it his guilt? Thanks, its good to be back. Hmmm... I'm guessing it was his guilt, but either way, he did get what he deserved. I found him so shalow and annoying that it was dificult to feel sorry for him, even when he died. jahrakal2009 said: Yeah, you forgot Hiromi(her freaky eyes on ep 12) but your example fits Aiko and Jun more I suppose ,They were more darker than the others and they both behaved in freaky/dark /aggressive ways because of their desires/unhealthy feelings like Ai going nuts on ep 7 and Jun attempts to kiss Noe .Lol ,some ppl consider Jun to be the baddest of the guys and Aiko the baddest of the girls but I don't think so ,they were just misunderstood and had the most destructive feelings (full of guilt)all characters got what they wanted cept for these two (talking about the Anime)and guilt is bound to hunt them for the rest of their lives ,Jun because of his feelings for his sis and Aiko for wasting herself on an impossible love and hurting Nobuse..I feel sorry for both of them because they made more mistakes than (Noe,Hiromi,Shin and Nobuse) .Lol ,imagine if Aiko ended up with Jun ?NO WAY ..Aiko belongs with Nobuse and Jun will find someone that loves him after he's healed...and i agree it gave the character a different feelings than most of ur happy /go characters i'm starting to hate ..lol Yes, these two were the villains of the series, besides Shin's mother. lol It is tragic, but fitting of the series. It had to rely on the theme of tears, and what better way to express this theme than through sadness, melancholy, despair and guilt right? LOL, Aiko with Jun would be quite an interesing couple, but Nobuse and Ai deserved each other, much more than anything else in the world. Hah, but still, that would be one incredibly bizarre fantasy had the two ended up together. foxy12 said: Hiormi indeed might be the most complex character on TT -she keeps on shifting back and forth with her feelings - your speculations on Hiromi are more accurate than mine's and your right about the mum being Hiromi's role model. I wonder what really happened in the past between Hiromi's parents and Shin's parents. Where's Hiromi's dad in all of this? Why, thank you. I'd think the current situation is reflective of past events as many others have stated.Hiromi = Shin's Mum, Noe = Hiromi's Mum, Shin = His dad. Shin's dad probably was in a love trangle type relationship with his parents. Using this ironic twists, they managed to portray an excellent and well crafted story and Shin's dad, through his son, was able to make right what happened so many years ago. Either way, it seemed that Shin's dad loved Hiromi's mum and she was extra special to him; the result making Shin's mother very jealous and taking out her anger on Hiromi. I don't hate the mum really and I understand her situation as well but lying to Hiromi was a little too much in my opinion. Agree, that was a cruel lie. I always feel like Hiromi and Ai-chan are very much a like (they both raise blood pressure and I almost grab a hanky while watching these two –it was frustrating to watch both of them sinking deep in their romantic problems … Yes, those two are so alike in so many ways. They both were rather dark characters that kept things bottled up inside. Noe is a great character in every way ,she was the pure /honest/most mature one a mong the characters .she got the best of all the characters(Nobuse,Aiko,Hiromi,Jun and mostly Shin)it was because of her that both Hiromi and Aiko came clean with their feelings ,she was the source of their jealousy. But it was tragic cuz the she was use as a sacrifice for Hiromi and Shin's ending and yeah she became so down at the end because Shin's feelings were totally new to her and she had a hard time dealing with them and yeah I was sad for Noe too but in the drama CD (she's seem to be the same old Noe that we all know, she's still talks a bout chicken and flying .loll) and I like her a lot too ^ ^ So do I. She's one of those rare Moe characters that I like eough to be a firm favourite. Though I think the scarificing and tragic, cruel events on Noe were a bit too much at times, it is clear she needed this in order to develop into an emotinally complete and mature person. I think her grandma would be very proud. I'd have to agree with your opinion here. The truth hurts. He was too afraid to face the bitter reality from the person he loves and would faithfully stand by, Ai's mouth. How true those words. Self-loathing is always one of the biggest barriers to anything, even in real life. But that was how the character of Ai was. Guilt-ridden and deeply disturbed, dark and sad. He was her protector yet she was the only one for him. I don't know if Nobuse's love for Aiko was a curse though but maybe your right and Ai's love for shin was a curse too right? Yes, maybe. Lol "In ep 2 –when Nobuse called Aiko his girlfriend, she said are you stupid? I'm not sure why she said that but she never saw Nobuse as a boyfriend because of her feelings for Shin maybe... But I'm happy that she and Nobuse get a long now as Shin as not a factor anymore..." That's true. I think she was nmomentarily blinded because of her deep passion for Shin. That was why she treated Nobuse with indifference sometimes, but she was too afraid as Nobuse was like her. She knew the pain of being rejected, by Shin. Yes, you're right but I think that Ai is a very well-written character even though Hiromi and Noe are more complex; Ai was definitely darker and was the most difficult one to read among the girls because she was used symbolically as you said and she did have a solid plot in my opinion even if her role was a minor one.. Yes, Ai could have been far more complex had she been given more screen time, back stories, explanations and emphasis. With the little time she did get, ts clear that she was a very rouded, great and well written character. She was unpredicatble and melancholic. Hiromi and Noe are probably more complex, but both girls have ore screent ime than her. I agree with how you referred to her a symbol and I think tis an extremely befitting of her character. I love this sentence a lot and I agree with u that Ai's love was darker and deeper than the other two because we don't know the reason for her massive feelings for Shin. Totally agree with your analysis on the dark, self destructive and even dangerous love of Ai, and the inticities surrounding her character. Hmm, I'm not really sure about this. But I think it's portraying that her only friends are Shin and Nobuse, but that said, she is a character of such mystery that one cannot say for certain the details regarding her background. Best way to describe her would be strong yet vulnerable. Overall, a very well-rounded character that I culd genuinely feel for. And thus why I can see how you thought she was used symbolically. I think she was used symbolically as well, but that does not change the fact she was one of the characters that could easily be sympathized with. I Agree with u on this but I don't think that she and shin are friends really, he sees her as a sister whom he doesn't see very often (lol, three days a week maybe and that's all )so she's not that important to him and his reaction to her on ep 7 proves it –it seems like he lost all respect for her so why did Ai fell in love with him if there are not that close?was he her only friend ? That's a very interesting view. "3 days a week". Good one, ^^. That relationship does raise alot of questions, but you could be right, as you mention only Nobuse and Shin visit her store. That must mean something. It's almost like the store represents her mind, her life and heart. And those two are the people there at the moment. The opening and closing of it, alot of things can be read symbolically here. Beautiful analogy. I couldn't agree more. And yeah, I want the OVA as well cuz Aiko story is rlly nice in the drama CD and she needs more understanding .. Also, I still want to see more TT. The ending was superb and very fulfilling but its kinda sad that everything finished. An OVA is another chance to see this fantasitic cast of characters in action again. What do you think that she was unexplained? And I agree with pretty much everything you said and also agree that the guy felt obligated to the sleeping girl... She had no background. No family. No dreams, goals. What was in her mind was never explained. She did a lot of strange things, like giving up swimming, etc, etc, and her whole demeanour changed, post accident. Despite the large amount of screen time she got, her character was portrayed with a lot to be desired, as I wanted to know muh more about her, but was unrewarded overall. That was the real reason why I thought they could have done a better job with her. |

That incest theme would have killed the whole series and make it difficult to take the anime seriously. |

I agree with everything you said but the villain part, you see I don't, never felt and I hate to think that Ai was made a villain(I hope not) (she's listed as one of three heroines).Jun was portrayed to be a shady guy but I don't think he was a villain as well ,they may have portrayed dark behavior because they had unhealthy feelings and made more mistakes that gave some ppl that impression but I don't think that the writers intended for Ai to be a villain .Jun was just doing everything possible to get away from his sister and he never cared for anyone else but her and didn't care for Hiromi's feelings while Ai was just lonely/conflicted/realistic person like Hiromi looking for that missing piece and needed some series help .If aiko was a villain then so were Mitsuki from KGNE AND Sekai from school days (considering they both did worst than Aiko )but neither was Sekai nor Mitsuki or Aiko were made villains ,they were just emotionally troubled and misunderstood as you said. All the characters made mistakes but Ai and Jun (even Shin) made more but I don't think that they were evil .Jun might have being the second villain after the mum to a certain degree but deep down inside he's a good person but I never got that impression from Ai(she was just like Hiromi) I don't think that falling in love so desperately and trying so hard makes you a villain, she did make a mistake but she knew what she was doing and hated herself very much for it, her mistake was very common among all of us in the real world and throughout the whole show after ep 5 ,she was trying to fix that mistake she made in the past by being honest to both guys about her feelings and to herself (not wanting to hurt anyone),Jun didn't care for Hiromi's feelings as he said in the last ep while Ai did feel guilty for Nobuse and shin,I just feel for these ppl .Yes, Ai and Jun had feelings of guilt, and despair, sadness and melancholy more than the others resulting in these mistakes and I understand why some people(including you ) would see them as villain's but I certainly didn't get that feeling .In fact Ai's massive guilt was sad to watch if you ask me Do you really think Ai was made a villain or she was just misunderstood? To me she was simply misunderstood as you explained in the message you sent me and the screen-time didn't help her and she doesn't deserve to be named a villain like what many people are trying to make her out to be .Lol,some ppl even villainize Hiromi because she was acting to feelings of jealousy in ep 8 and 12 but calling her a devil ,villain is a bit too much but that's just my opinion and I'm not gonna say you're wrong either ^ ^ And yes, it's tragic and the writers portrayed Ai and Jun with the most destructive/full of guilt feelings.. jahrakal2009 said: Why, thank you. The store also represents the place where she and Nobuse first met and reconciled with each other, like the temple where he confessed to her, both places are very precious to her, she now considers Nobuse to be the most important/precious to her. I also agree that the closing and opening of the store can be read symbolically and that the store represent her mind, life and heart.. lol man we have done a great job on analyzing Ai-chan that people would only find exclusively here even other blogs ,other forums and animesuki I read haven't gone as far as we did as they were too busy analyzing the main story ..lol .. like the fact that Ai was used symbolically and the sign's of her store and that she was deprived from her store .. jahrakal2009 said: Also, I still want to see more TT. The ending was superb and very fulfilling but its kinda sad that everything finished. An OVA is another chance to see this fantasitic cast of characters in action again. yeah, true tears was the first anime to be made by P.A Works since they are a new company and now they seem to be working on making a new one with the title Caanan (I'm not sure of the name) about a detective or something but it looks promising and you know that P.A Works are known for their good animation and yes it would be great if they made an ova for the anime or a season two with the a new cast and include the same old cast kinda like ef series but an ova for the drama cd would be better .this way ppl would understand Ai-chan's character more and it would be a great satisfaction for those hungry Noe fans who can't accept the ending for what is it .too bad many ppl are messing it though ..lol jahrakal2009 said: She had no background. I'm not sure if they really deserved such a fate in a way. foxy12 said: I agree with everything you said but the villain part, you see I don't, never felt and I hate to think that Ai was made a villain(I hope not) (she's listed as one of three heroines).Jun was portrayed to be a shady guy but I don't think he was a villain as well ,Jun was just doing everything possible to get away from his sister and he never cared for anyone else but her and didn't care for Hiromi's feelings while Ai was just lonely/conflicted/realistic person like Hiromi looking for that missing piece and needed some series help .If aiko was a villain then so were Mitsuki from KGNE AND Sekai from school days (considering they both did worst than Aiko )but neither was Sekai nor Mitsuki or Aiko were made villains ,they were just emotionally troubled and misunderstood as you said. All the characters made mistakes but Ai and Jun (even Shin) made more but I don't think that they were evil .Jun might have being the second villain after the mum to a certain degree but deep down inside he's a good person but I never got that impression from Ai(she was just like Hiromi) I don't think that falling in love so desperately and trying so hard makes you a villain, she did make a mistake but she knew what she was doing and hated herself very much for it, her mistake was very common among all of us in the real world and throughout the whole show after ep 5 ,she was trying to fix that mistake she made in the past by being honest to both guys about her feelings and to herself (not wanting to hurt anyone),Jun didn't care for Hiromi's feelings as he said in the last ep while Ai did feel guilty for Nobuse and shin,I just feel for these ppl .Yes, Ai and Jun had feelings of guilt, and despair, sadness and melancholy more than the others resulting in these mistakes and I understand why some people(including you ) would see them as villain's but I certainly didn't get that feeling .In fact Ai's massive guilt was sad to watch if you ask me What I meant to say was general portrayal of these two were villains, along with the mother. I personally don't think they actually were villains in themselves rather than victims of circumstances, but I can appreciate how some people might actually villainize them. Their dark, slightly disturbed characteristics is easily misunderstood and thus misinterpreted. What you mentioned was closer to the truth if you ask me, but its all too easy to generalize them. I do agree with you that they are very similar to Sekai and Mitsuki in a sense, therefore the labelling of villains is a bit premature and ill thoought. I did feel sad for oth of them though, and I still felt they were good characters who tried their best to control themselves. foxy12 said: Do you really think Ai was made a villain or she was just misunderstood? To me she was simply misunderstood as you explained in the message you sent me and the screen-time didn't help her and she doesn't deserve to be named a villain like what many people are trying to make her out to be .Lol,some ppl even villainize Hiromi because she was acting to feelings of jealousy in ep 8 and 12 but calling her a devil ,villain is a bit too much but that's just my opinion and I'm not gonna say you're wrong either ^ ^ And yes, it's tragic and the writers portrayed Ai and Jun with the most destructive/full of guilt feelings.. I agree with you and I think she was simply misunderstood. The creators certainly intended for her to be a heroine and she was symbolically placed, albeit tragically and at expense for her character in the anime. Yes, Hiromi herself wasn't free of these labels, but I guess like you said, this is mainly opinions and in real life, these things do happen vey oftenn as well. foxy12 said: Your right(very good catch there) and it can also be seen throuh the Aiko,Nobuse, shin situation as well .. did he really cheat on his wife with Hiromi's mum ? I'm not sure of the specifics, maybe he cheated/maybe not, but Hiromi's mum was certainly a very important person to him, and there was rivalry between Shin's and Hiromi's mum. foxy12 said: lol, they didn't even interact cept for that one time in ep 7 and it's not like Jun cared for her either –nobody cares for Aiko but Nobuse .. It'll never happen I must admit. ^^ The two don't really know each other at all, Jun only cared about Noe, and Ai only cared about Shin (at the time) although by the end of the dramacd, she warmed up to Nobuse. foxy12 said: Both are twisted and messed up Precisely. foxy12 said: Yeah, I'm not really into moe characters but Noe is a favorite of mine's and yes ,it was a bit too much in my opinion that the writers made her go through all this with her case but it was needed to be done .. Did grandma know of Jun siscon? I think she didn't because at the time, Jun didn't have a siscon when grandma passed away. Only when he was taking care of Noe did he start developing feelings for her. Even Noe was unaware of his feelings for her. foxy12 said: And Ai too was a afraid to face reality and rejection form the person she loved most unless she hears the rejection out of his own mouth and what she and Nobuse were doing was unhealthy if you ask me. Both she and Nobuse sacrificed like HELL all for love and they lost so much even though it was impossible, it's amazing how they got together after all this sacrificing and Ai losing her pride-nice couple.. Yes, they sacrificed alot. In many ways those two were alike and I think they were more suitable for each other all the more because of that. foxy12 said: Yeah ,I felt that way too that Ai was deeply disturbed by her eternal conflicts that involved too much guilt -guilt is one of the worst kind of suffering in my opinion but Hiromi and Noe didn't have guilt like Ai ..I wonder if Nobuse knew that Ai was in pain ? Arguably Hiromi did feel guilty sometimes, especially when she lies to Shin, but you are right, I think guilt is one of the worse types of suffering to have. foxy12 said: Every cliffhanger ended with her and she did raise the drama as well but yeah, she was very unpredictable and strong character but she did get her reward in the drama CD,some ppl thought Ai was there to spice things up but that's not the only as I explained her reasons for being there in the past previous posts.. Yes, dramacd gave her character heaps of justice. She was easily more well represented there, and many of her thoughts and personality was expressed in the dramacd. foxy12 said: we don't know a thing a bout her family or her background and she seem's to run the whole store by herself (no sign of relatives or workers there )and maybe the store is where she actually lives ,if Ai doesn't have her parents then she no different than Hiromi ..lol That's true. She's largely shrouded in mystery. Lol. For all we know she might be an orphan like Hiromi and Noe. All things that happened with Ai can be described symbolically if you ask me and yeah I did feel for Ai as well ,ppl who hate her might find her unsympathetic and they see her as this bold b**** because she did have the courage and guts to admit and pursue her feelings but I found her to be pretty sympathetic .. Not to mention the rejection and Shin's indifference. I ttly agree with you on this, something is very fishy about that store, lol.I wonder why Ai doesn't have any friends if not best friends from her school who are girls ?it's weird since she seems to have this fun, outgoing character but still weird ,I thought we would get the answer in the drama CD but still she doesn't have nobody but Nobuse now (I'm feeling sorry for her )it's also strange that the writers put here in different school to separate her from the other's but why ? The store also represents the place where she and Nobuse first met and reconciled with each other, like the temple where he confessed to her, both places are very precious to her, she now considers Nobuse to be the most important/precious to her. She probably always will be one of the saddest characters in this anime. As for the store, it'll always remain a mystery. XD I agree, the store has much significance, just like the temple. lol man we have done a great job on analyzing Ai-chan that people would only find exclusively here even other blogs ,other forums and animesuki I read haven't gone as far as we did as they were too busy analyzing the main story ..lol .. like the fact that Ai was used symbolically and the sign's of her store and that she was deprived from her store .. Lol, You did a much better job than me. But boy did we wreck the haters and critics ideas of her. There's so much about her despite her short screen time, that one can only conclude she was placed in the series for a reason and that she was quite a well-rounded and deep character overall. foxy12 said: yeah, true tears was the first anime to be made by P.A Works since they are a new company and now they seem to be working on making a new one with the title Caanan (I'm not sure of the name) about a detective or something but it looks promising and you know that P.A Works are known for their good animation and yes it would be great if they made an ova for the anime or a season two with the a new cast and include the same old cast kinda like ef series but an ova for the drama cd would be better .this way ppl would understand Ai-chan's character more and it would be a great satisfaction for those hungry Noe fans who can't accept the ending for what is it .too bad many ppl are messing it though ..lol I think so too. P.A. Works did a very good job in their debut. I am quite interested in Canaan, and I must say, this company really does try to diversify itself, so mad props to them for not playing safe but taking risks and doing different anime as well. I'll probably check it out when it airs. An OVA would be nice, more Ai, more Noe, more Hiromi, Nobuse, Jun and the rest of the characters. Maybe one on the Shin';s father and Hiromi's mum and Shin's mom would be great too. Self-sacrificing is the best description that fits her character ,she gave up on her swimming ,her goals and her dreams all for taka's sake .To me her character was well-explained but I agree , I wanted to know more a bout her ..[/quote True. But its hard to really analyze her character because there was so much more that they could have explained about her. I wished they did, given hwow much screen time she had. Her past remains such a mystery as are most of her intentions. How come she forgot her friend so easily and they never reconciled would be one of the biggest questions running in my head right now.] |

Yes, Hiromi herself wasn't free of these labels, but I guess like you said, this is mainly opinions and in real life, these things do happen vey oftenn as well. Sure, unlike Hiormi or Noe who were facing family problems, Ai had destructive and dark romantic feelings more than both Hiormi and Noe while Hiromi and Noe were in much worst situation but both had healthier romantic feelings than Ai .Ai became disturbed because of her feelings for Shin and her guilt for Nobuse and Shin while both Hiormi and Noe became disturbed by their feelings mainly because of their situation and not just because of their feelings (they both had good reasons to be disturbed and behave the way they did )hiromi's action's were ttly human but we don't know the reason for Ai's desperate behavior ,why did she want Shin so bad ?was it because she loved him or was it because she had a series problem and felt empty .Because Ai's intentions and inner feelings were hidden ,some ppl assume that Ai had some huge emptiness inside of her (because her reason for loving Shin were unknown to us especially since he doesn't seem to talk to her that much either )we all know the reason for Hiormi's actions because of the whole sibling issue that messed up her feelings and Noe because she lost her grandma and suppress all the sadness inside but what are the reasons for Ai's feelings for Shin (is she lonely or something ?)But your right, she will always be a mystery (lol) but Ai had it really bad in love even more than the other too and she was used as a destiny girl and a sacrifice for the other two happiness as well(the ill fate girl) .Ai was there to lose everything and feel guilty so they can give both Hiormi and Noe happiness and give Nobuse happiness as well. Some people might say Hiromi and Noe are tragic because they both had it so bad and were emotionally troubled if we look at thing from the show point of view but if we actually look at Ai's situation from real life view ,Ai's fate is actually more tragic than both girls because there's nothing worse than losing your dignity and she was made as a sacrifice not just in love but in screen time and fate as well. Sure hiromi situation was indeed tragic but it was all a lie (everything)at the end she became happy and Noe's situation is tragic as well but Noe situation is not realisticld but Ai's situation is real and you can find it in the real world because she had dark feelings ,Nobuse himself is not that realistic and Ai's ending was made for Nobuse .The real Ai ending is to be alone with nothing left but guilt and yes her fate is so cruel if you ask me and the writers made Ai as symbolic for the fans to understand but unfortunately not many ppl understood her character at all and accuse her of being pointless and useless(some even say the show would be better without her ,some ask why she was added, some say she messed things up which they already were)I'm starting to feel sorry for her because of all these accusations .Lol they say that Hiormi has her history and her hot fan service ,Noe has her screen time and her eccentric behavior but Aiko has nothing …some ppl said that Ai should've just become emo because they see her as nothing but I like her the most and also like Hiromi and Noe but Ai need some love ,there's something about her that makes you feel for her .She's had it bad in every way .she didn't get as much love as the other two from the writers (although they did give her in the drama CD) nor did she get love from fans, and she had such bad luck in love .Hiromi and Noe already have MANY MANY fans .I just feel like Ai needs more support and love as well and hope she gets it soon because she is also a deep character… jahrakal2009 said: I'm not sure of the specifics, maybe he cheated/maybe not, but Hiromi's mum was certainly a very important person to him, and there was rivalry between Shin's and Hiromi's mum. It was unavoidable destruction and I felt sad for Nobuse as well because he thought that Ai liked him and he was shocked by the fact that Ai like Shin.I wanted Ai to desperately find love in Nobuse because she lost so much of her life and herself and Nobuse too lost so much of his that one can only say I 'omg , finally they fell in love after losing so much 'Ai and Nobuse showed us what it like to love AND both were victims between TITANS Hiormi,Shin,Jun and Noe and I'm glad they found each other .. There was a reason to why I think that Nobuse stole a kiss from Shin in the drama CD beside the fact that it was used for comic relive, jealousy and him being desperate because he thought he was deserving of the Kiss more than Nobuse .The writer or lets say Nobuse wanted to prove to Ai that he's not that perfect either just like she was trying to prove to Nobuse that can be better and stole a kiss forcefully from Shin so that He and Ai can be equal(both losing their bride) and Ai wouldn't feel less about herself and consider Nobuse to be better than her and that's why he went and told her that he got back her first kiss from Shin wanting to console Ai jahrakal2009 said: Arguably Hiromi did feel guilty sometimes, especially when she lies to Shin, but you are right, I think guilt is one of the worse types of suffering to have. Her character is not that hard to analyze really because KGNE characters were not as conflicted as true tears characters .Yes they were conflicted but they were easy to read because they acting because of their guilt and feelings and true tears didn't reach the drama in KGNE and avoided many sexual scene but the drama was very heavy in both series .Mitsuki made the show painful to watch (seeing her drunk and all was honestly depressing) |

True that. But it didn't really seem such a relief for her I guess. She still tried to defend herself from Katanoha in the end. But the ending of School Days was really messed up in many ways... It was a bit too extreme and something slightly lighter would have been better. waw ,this is turning to whether or not Ai's is villain What your saying is that the general portrayal for Ai was to be a villain, still I don't want to add Ai with the mum or even Jun,I'd put Ai in the Hiromi category because I don't think she was a bad guy at all ,the writers intended for her to be realistic and flawed but not a villain .Even though she and jun showed dark behaviors and are disturbed, they all are even Nobuse .Hiromi ,Noe and aiko are all disturbed, twisted and covered in shit But Ai's situation was more realistic and she made more mistakes than Hiromi because she was real .Yes ,Ai and jun were easily misunderstood because these two were the most difficult one's to read especially Ai (because their intention were largely hidden)and the writer himself said that he made Ai more darker thus making her easily misunderstood and easier to judge .Her actions may have indeed made many ppl hate her because they wouldn't look deep into her character (just like what many Noe fans did with Hiromi) .I'm not sure if Jun was intended to be a villain though (some ppl think he is because of his ill feelings for Noe) and his ignorance towards hiromi's feelings and the fact that he never cared for Hiromi and he only felt guilt for his sis .He and Aiko do have some similarities like the fact that both Harbor destructive feelings. Indeed it is. It's true that villain is not a good or apt word to describe this series as it basically has no villains in it. There is no real murderous intent o heaps of action and the basic premise of this series is the romance and drama of it all. Ai was made a villain because of the viewers depiction of her cruelty to Nobuse, and her lying to him. Also her forcefulness to Shin might be another factor to consider, people might think of her as being like Sekai or Mitsuki, who are generally hated. Jun was a villain because he represented the source of all the trouble going out with Hiromi and forcing Shin to go out with Noe. He was like an obstacle for ShinxHiromi I suppose. Sure hiromi situation was indeed tragic but it was all a lie (everything)at the end she became happy and Noe's situation is tragic as well but Noe situation is not realisticld but Ai's situation is real and you can find it in the real world because she had dark feelings ,Nobuse himself is not that realistic and Ai's ending was made for Nobuse .The real Ai ending is to be alone with nothing left but guilt and yes her fate is so cruel if you ask me and the writers made Ai as symbolic for the fans to understand but unfortunately not many ppl understood her character at all and accuse her of being pointless and useless(some even say the show would be better without her ,some ask why she was added, some say she messed things up which they already were)I'm starting to feel sorry for her because of all these accusations .Lol they say that Hiormi has her history and her hot fan service ,Noe has her screen time and her eccentric behavior but Aiko has nothing …some ppl said that Ai should've just become emo because they see her as nothing but I like her the most and also like Hiromi and Noe but Ai need some love ,there's something about her that makes you feel for her .She's had it bad in every way .she didn't get as much love as the other two from the writers (although they did give her in the drama CD) nor did she get love from fans, and she had such bad luck in love .Hiromi and Noe already have MANY MANY fans .I just feel like Ai needs more support and love as well and hope she gets it soon because she is also a deep character… Yes, you are so right with your analysis. Ai suffered differently from hiromi and Noe, although the series didn't delve that much into it, you can see through her symbolic placement into the series this was so. She is that guilt-ridden melancholic heroine after all, who is bound to be misunderstood by so many. Also, the fanbase in support of Noe and Hiromi overwhelms that of Ai's, although this is understandable. So in summary, I think that in terms of realism, Ai > Hiromi > Noe. As deep a character as Noe was, and she was very well explained, its difficult to actually believe someone can lose the ability to cry because of how the grandmother acted, and the resultant causing her problems up to this day. There are many orphans in anime without being as quirky as Noe I suppose, but that's all in the name of a good story. As for Hiromi, well... she's more realistic than Noe if anything else, but I still feel Ai's more realistic even up to the dramacd, where it shows that she can move on (in comparison to the millions of other anime girls who cant' seem to have a relationship till the end.) The writers should've gave us more info on this situation but it was also left for the fans to understand ,do you think that Hiromi's mum and Shin's mum were friends ? It was mainly for the viewers to read between the lines. Also, I guess it was to provide a source of discussion and a reason to explain Shin's mother's treatment of Hiromi. she warmed up to Nabuse at the end of the anime (ep 10)^ ^one person said that he wanted Aiko and Jun so Nobuse and Noe can be together but still I like Ai with Nobuse even though Nobuse and Noe had potential because they had the same personality but still Ai and Nobuse had chemistry (especially in the drama Cd) and they have lots in common especially food ..loll Agreed. Chemistry > same personality in the end. Thinking of food... mmm. Who do you think is more twisted? I'd have to think it would be Ai. when Ai fell in love with Nobuse in the drama CD (I was actually waiting for that moment all the time )and I know many ppl were. not that I hated the fact that Ai was in love with Shin.I actually felt sad for Ai because you can tell that she was gonna be destroyed by Shin from the beginning. There was a reason to why I think that Nobuse stole a kiss from Shin in the drama CD beside the fact that it was used for comic relive, jealousy and him being desperate because he thought he was deserving of the Kiss more than Nobuse .The writer or lets say Nobuse wanted to prove to Ai that he's not that perfect either just like she was trying to prove to Nobuse that can be better and stole a kiss forcefully from Shin so that He and Ai can be equal(both losing their bride) and Ai wouldn't feel less about herself and consider Nobuse to be better than her and that's why he went and told her that he got back her first kiss from Shin wanting to console Ai Wow, that does make sense. That explanation is much better than I imagined. This is really very impressive indeed. INow that I see it, this is such a fitting explanation to those actions of Nobuse. Throughout the series I felt the same way and I hoped Ai had a happy ending. The problem with most anime is they have a character like Ai who totally got destroyed and rejected, and in the end, they either remain sad, or something tragic happens to them; or they just miraculously can move on. I like the fact that even someone like Ai has Nobuse. Man, I'm actually really glad for this, because most anime portray the girl who never got chosen a loser, which is far from the truth and unrealistic, but TT is so much more realistic and I like it all the more for that reason. I also felt really glad for that breakthrough, and that they were able to overcome the obstacles placed before them, of Shin, Hiromi, and Noe. Yeah,Hiormi felt guilty (I messed that ,thanks for reminding me ) but it was not her fault after all so she shouldn't have felt guilty .But still Ai had more guilt .. Welcome. ^^. And she also had no chance, so there goes despair. Noe still has her mum (jun mentioned her in ep 6 ,saying she's always working )Ai doesn't actually have anyone and even Hiromi has Shin's parents to take care of her and Nobuse did mention his father in ep 6 as well .They could have told us or give us hints at least about who the hell does Ai live 's with but they never did even in the drama CD ,so is true she's a loony .. Ahh yes, that's right. Forgot about that. thanks for reminding me. Ai does indeed seem to be all alone. She is very strange and mysterious. Shin doesn't care that much for Ai really (she's not that big part of his life) the way he grapped Ai's arm in ep3 was kinda cruel .Even when Ai took him shopping, she did haif the talking and when he's at her shop ,he only talks with Nobuse ..He's best friend is Nobuse and not Ai ..Is Ai anti-social or something?. Indeed, Ai doesn't really mean much to Shin at all. It's questions like this in the series where I want to know more about Ai. I agreed, that scene in Episode 3 was cruel. It was also kind of rude. Why doesn't he even bother to maintain a normal relationship with her. He should also be paying. Ai might be anti-social, because she doesn't really seem very outgoing, but it still is a big question mark I guess. Yeah, she is sad and her over involvement in the story was to give this sad, unsatisfied feeling about her and her fate ..The only character who I feel unsatisfied about because she was less developed than the other two and the writer himself said that Ai was still at the bottom and needed more closure and that's why she got a great drama CD (I felt bit satisfied in the drama CD).. Agreed. And they did a great job with the dramacd. That would give the tragic guiltridden character more justice. Yeah ,we did and the fact that we got this much info out of her (including the drama Cd)showed us that she really is a deep character and complicated as well .. Yes, Ai is very unique in that she seems simple from the outside, very complex on the inside. Yeah, an OVA is what I'm looking forward to and season two would be great but I'm not sure if the series has the potential for season two(something that focus more on Ai and Nobuse) as for CANANAN it looks promising but it doesn't have the realism that true tears has because it's more of an action show with your anime rainbow hair colors buts' on my plan to watch list .. I agree, the ending of this series pretty much concluded the whole thing. A second season would simply be stretching things. Focusing more on Ai and Nobuse is probably the best way to go, or a backstory of the parents relationship would be great but in all honesty, it's probably best to leave things as is. As for Canaan, well, it definately won't be as realistic as TT but I guess I want to see how well P.A. Works is able to diversify. Her character is not that hard to analyze really because KGNE characters were not as conflicted as true tears characters .Yes they were conflicted but they were easy to read because they acting because of their guilt and feelings and true tears didn't reach the drama in KGNE and avoided many sexual scene but the drama was very heavy in both series .Mitsuki made the show painful to watch (seeing her drunk and all was honestly depressing) I agree, both were very complex and well thought out. I don't know if it was just me, but I generally found it really hard to sympathize with her(Mitsuki) character. It probably was because of the coldness towards te sleeping girl, that I felt throughout the series. The KGNE characters have this problem, where there thoughts are not expressed in words, it's really all guessing what they are thinking through facial expressions and such. KGNE felt like a giant sopa opera and drama fest to me ( I did feel the last episode was very well done though), while True Tears was more surreal, beautiful and almost every character was much easier to sympathize with; just being that bit more realistic. |

Well as far as 'gained' I would say depending on your own view point the main characters all gained or regained what they sought to. So the Gain while not appearing equal to some, could very well be quite equal. As for flawed and more realistic.. and if it was to be made into only a comparison of 2 .. it would be Ai and Hiromi they are far more ... 'real' and 'human' then Noe would be though she has her flaws/ Hiromi or Noe... Hiromi is more to me of a human character - You see her true emotions , you see her struggle with things (at least one major thing she should have never had to struggle with I am sure most would agree - I reference the actions of shins mother, which were both childish and extremely cruel- ) And her slow maturity growth , and having enough growth to openly admit she was in fact a fool for some of her own actions.. something I could say some go entire life times failing to do. Hiromi is also no 'evil' or 'cold' I never quite understood why people said that , because she had jealously? or Envy? or got Angry? or acted like a human would in the position she thought she was in lol. Come now the haters really have little case other then to say be a fan boy/girl of Ai or Noe which even then makes little sense to hate her character - She also has the capability once the clearing of the air episodes air to be more then supportive of Shin. she always had the ability. And to make a Noe comparison at he end of it .. I think she herself has far deeper feelings for him and him for her then Noe. Noe.. well shes Noe. She was a interesting character - and I think she was quite what she was meant to be. Well Hiromi was the Romantic interest - Noe was the intellectual Interest of the series. She made him think , helped him see the things , he was hiding from running from- and was rather instrumental in his own growth as well as his in hers. (of course he was instrumental in both hers and Hiromis but it goes to state it) She like Hiromi had her share of suffering , both did , but I think the feelings shin had for her .. were confused ones. Well the ones for Hiromi were never confused. He loved her from episode one to episode thirteen and Noe could even see it. So I consider Noe a great character to- She gained in the ways she needed and wanted, as she is now she would have a rather bright future- And Hiromi and Shin will together and quite happy. |

jahrakal2009 said: Good to be back, thank you. . Welcome ^^ Death was a relieve for Sekai from her massive suffering and guilt for the murder and if she where to live, I can only imagine her going nuts and Katanoha should've died too if you ask me, better than living as a psycho.. jahrakal2009 said: True that. But it didn't really seem such a relief for her I guess. She still tried to defend herself from Katanoha in the end. But the ending of School Days was really messed up in many ways... It was a bit too extreme and something slightly lighter would have been better. . yeah ,school days was messed up and even the raping scene for Katanoha was censored jahrakal2009 said: Indeed it is. He was like an obstacle for ShinxHiromi I suppose. . I agree with your point on both characters so what your saying is that both characters were made villains by the viewers and not the writers ? Ai's action which includes her cruelty to Nobuse were because of her massive self-loathing and not liking herself for who she is .She indeed lied to both guys for years and hurted Nobuse, forced herself on Shin but she had this huge empty hole .Nobuse did fell it a bit but it was never enough (nobuse was given her love but she wasn't feeling because she couldn't return it ) her love for Shin was so deep and it made her lose sight of things and her mind (be deprived of her soul)that she couldn’t see anyone but him Does she deserve to be hated? No but some might dislike her, Were her action's wrong? yes ,is she a bad person ?No..She simply need understanding and those people who villainize her don't seem to focus on her character at all and view things from Nobuse's point because it's easier to read thing's from Nobuse point because Ai is difficult to read … Jun was doing his best to get away from his sister and yes he did hurt Noe and tried to break Shin and Hiromi but he also had self-loathing like Ai Does he deserve to be hated? No but some ppl might dislike him,Were his action's wrong ?yes, Is he a bad person ?no ,but he does show negative attitude towards people From What I read I think that Ai and Jun belong more into the Neutral category and not the villain category as they were both trying their best to control themselves but they couldn’t (considering that they suppressed their feelings the most out of all the characters )Ai's conflicts between her dark love for Shin and that pure/growing love for Nobuse inside of her that she was resisting Nobuse feelings at first because they made her feel guilt which was the only way for redemption but she was unable to let go because of her self-loathing and thinking that Nobuse is too good for her and the same goes for Jun as he too was fighting conflicts between his love for his sis and the fact that it was wrong .. Who do you think made more mistakes Jun or Ai ? jahrakal2009 said: Yes, you are so right with your analysis. As for Hiromi, well... she's more realistic than Noe if anything else, but I still feel Ai's more realistic even up to the dramacd, where it shows that she can move on (in comparison to the millions of other anime girls who cant' seem to have a relationship till the end.) . Your right in terms of realism Ai was more realistic and as I was watching the show I realized that Ai is indeed the MOST difficult character to read in the whole show .Many people seem to neglect her character .I understand them making Ai the realistic heroine who must face harsh reality to move on and I also understand them showing realistic unrequited love but why do you think the writers made her more darker and symbolic? And how do you think that Ai suffered differently than Hiromi and Noe ? jahrakal2009 said: It was mainly for the viewers to read between the lines. Also, I guess it was to provide a source of discussion and a reason to explain Shin's mother's treatment of Hiromi. . Agree ^ ^ jahrakal2009 said: Agreed. Chemistry > same personality in the end. Thinking of food... mmm. . They both love food ..lol jahrakal2009 said: I'd have to think it would be Ai. . I agree with you too because is Ai darker but why do you think that ? jahrakal2009 said: Wow, that does make sense. I also felt really glad for that breakthrough, and that they were able to overcome the obstacles placed before them, of Shin, Hiromi, and Noe. . Yes, almost all anime have girls like Ai but most of them get's to receive the love of the guy but Ai stood no chance which is very realistic (the last time I saw a realistic unrequited love is from Honey and clover) and I like also liked the fact that were both able to overcome the obstacles and not feelings less about themselves and that Hiormi and Shin were larger than them which is how Aiko felt a bout herself comparing to Hiromi and Noe and Nobuse felt about himself comparing to Shin .And by someone like Ai – I hope you mean someone who's dark and not someone who's bad or low ..lolll Yes, it's the only way I can see Nobuse acting the way he did to give heal Ai's hear and pride .. jahrakal2009 said: Welcome. ^^. And she also had no chance, so there goes despair. . And she knew that from the beginning of the show but she was holding on to that tiny ,small hope for so long and wanted to be near Shin even if that closeness is a lie ,her love for Shin was so vital jahrakal2009 said: Ahh yes, that's right. Forgot about that. thanks for reminding me. Ai does indeed seem to be all alone. She is very strange and mysterious. . Ai might be anti-social, because she doesn't really seem very outgoing, but it still is a big question mark I guess. . In the drama CD and in the Anime,it showed us that she is a lone, look at the way she taiks and waits for Nobuse which proves that Nobuse is her only best friend now as she seem to tell her biggest secrets, her thought's only to him and not even Shin and she only seem to wait for Nobuse and no one else ..she's not like Hiromi or Noe in the drama CD who are more social .. jahrakal2009 said: Agreed. And they did a great job with the dramacd. That would give the tragic guiltridden character more justice. . Agree ^ ^ jahrakal2009 said: Yes, Ai is very unique in that she seems simple from the outside, very complex on the inside. . As for Canaan, well, it definately won't be as realistic as TT but I guess I want to see how well P.A. Works is able to diversify. . Yup ,a second season would just ruin the story but A story on Aiko and Nobuse wouldn't hurt although they could do a second season with a whole different cast and story .An OVA is the best way to say goodbye to this series (so please P.A works ,make an OVA..lol)..I guess I will just give CANAN a try . jahrakal2009 said: I agree, both were very complex and well thought out. I don't know if it was just me, but I generally found it really hard to sympathize with her(Mitsuki) character. KGNE felt like a giant sopa opera and drama fest to me ( I did feel the last episode was very well done though), while True Tears was more surreal, beautiful and almost every character was much easier to sympathize with; just being that bit more realistic. . I deem Mitsuki and (Keade from shuffle )to be one of the saddest characters I've seen. Her coldness to the sleeping was because of her jealousy and Akane cold treatments towards her .Sure they were difficult characters and destiny screwed with them but I found them all to be pretty tragic and they were like true tears character but the events in KGNE were far more larger than true tears and it was depressing as they suffered too much .. Why did you find it hard to sympathize with her ? |

Well...for me Aiko was difficult to read because of one thing:I underestimated her love for Shin. If they could explain it more/earlier then she's MUCH easier to read then she was. Hiromi is another thing...she made some decisions where she could make better ones. About continuation: I think an OVA about the drama CD would be great or a True Tears-past generation:p(That explains the former triangle between Shin's father and mother and Hiromi's mom). Well...because the thread became a general character discussion one let's say something about Shin's mother:As we know she formerly raced against Hiromi's mother who was a real beuty. Shin's mother always felt herself inferior to her and even after the marriage she probably couldn't believe that Shin's father choose her. Her inferiority complex led her to the belief that he's cheating with that woman behind her back. I guess the "war" for Shin's father between the two women were pretty intense and/or before that Shin's mom probably admired greatly Hiromi's mom. That's why that even after more than 10 years and her death she still bears a great grudge against her. Her grudge continued on Hiromi. Hiromi, like her mother were beutifull and a certain relationship started to build between her and Shin. She thought that history repeats itself and Hiromi steals Shin from her as Hiromi's mother "stole" her husband. Probably that's why she acted that way in the whole series...the ending gave even her a relief and she gives up her grudge against Hiromi's mother. About KGNE: Well as you said KGNE were pretty heavy. It's still a mistery to me why Haruka's parents didn't talked to Akane about Takayuki's state and their conversation two years ago. With that she could understand the situation more. But back to "topic": Many people can't sympatise with Mitsuki because she acted selfishly and made some pretty serious things(well some radical Haruka fans hates her by default or hates her because she "sent" Haruka to coma). Actually she was seflish because Takayuki was a life-or-death thing for her. As he spent more and more time with Haruka she felt like her greatest fear came true: she were just a pitifull replacement for Takayuki which will thrown away soon. For her the relationship with Takayuki almost equaled her existance. She gave up everything for that and she felt like loosing even that. Not to mention that Mitsuki can't think of herself as a friend of Haruka after she've commited one of the greatest betrayals. Funny thing that Mitsuki is a character that misunderstood both by the characters and the watchers mostly. |

Funny thing that Mitsuki is a character that misunderstood both by the characters and the watchers mostly. Aiko was not just difficult to read because they didn't explain her love for Shin but it was also because she was used symbolically and metaphorically .. Ai's love for Shin was dark and destructive(unhealthy) because she was living a fanatsy with her's and shin's and refused to face reality that she and Shin can never be even though she knew that very well .she chose to close her eyes from the truth because of her deeo passion for Shin that made her lose sight of things . Hiromi and Ai both harbored platonic feelings for shin but they were both indecisive because Hiormi thought that she might be his haif sister and Ai was with his friend and so they suppressed thier feelings.. Both started acting on thier feelings when Shin started showing clear interest in this new girl Noe.. Agree with you on the mum though .Clearly thing were intense between her and Hiormi's mum and I agree with the fact that she felt less than Hiromi's mum(self-loathing)which is why she made that Lie in the first place. We 're not so sure of what happened in the past but Hiromi's mum was importand to her husband .. where's Hiormi dad in all of this though ?lol As for KGNE-I agree that Mitsuki was selfish but this is because of what you said ,she gave up on lot's of things for taka's sake .She was always on doubt on weather he loved her or not (she thought that she was a replcement for Huraka)and I agree with you on the friendship part .She didn't feel like she was a friend to Huraka anymore after what happend with taka .. What happened to Huraka was not her fault,it just did and I can't see why everyone says it's her fault (it was some act of god). Both sufferd a lot but Huraka had her family who shared her pain and was even a sleep during her pain but Mitsuki had to go through with it and live out with all the emotions -despair,neglection,guilt and unrequited love ,she had no one to support and taka was the only one but he too was feeling these emotions as well .. As for Akane-she too was in a difficult possition ,confliced with her feelings .The scene with her admitting to her sister the truth was very powerful (frustration brought by Akane ).. I noticed that Akane and Mitsuki had more focus than Huraka .. |

Hiromi since that festival in the past didnt harbor 'platonic' feelings she harbored feelings above friend but not quite lover.. she wanted to get closer to him to know him to be with him... and for a time his mother... and her complexes threw a huge wrench into things.. At least that is the simplistic view of it "where's Hiormi dad in all of this though ?" Dead |

Dead I thought that Hiormi had feelings of love for Shin since a very long time like Ai(before the show even started) but she suppressed those feelings when she moved in to thier house after hearing that lie but Ai has suppressed her feelings for Shin longer than Hiormi did cuz she's always known that Hiormi is number 1 in shin's heart .. As for the dad-I know he's dead but they don't say much a bout him .. |
