| Episode 18 is both my favourite episode of Gankutsuou and one of my favourite anime episodes of all time. The fight, the music, the dialogue, the tragic end...it was all executed perfectly. |

| I must say that my aesthetics were sparked in 9 {I Dreamed a Dark Dream}. I liked how different it seemed to the rest. I really loved how the Count looked. I also liked 15 {The End of Happiness, the Beginning of Truth}, 2 {Until the Sun Rises Over the Moon}, and 3 {5/22, Stormy}. |
| When rewatching, I came to view episode 21 as my second favourite episode, behind 18. Seeing Edmond get his revenge against two of three in a single episode was utterly fantastic, after all of the build-up that came before. The Andrea courtroom drama is one of the most memorable parts of the story, and the anime did it justice. |
| I would have to say that I do not hold a completely favorite episode over all of the others. However, I will say that I enjoyed Episode 15, "The End of Happiness, the Beginning of Truth". Not only was it because of the stunning visuals or the dialogue between the Count and Albert, and not even because of what looks like yaoi. There was some air of mystery... like when the Count asked if Albert would 'still think highly of him', and when the Count's eyes were full of emotion after turning to look at Albert before leaving (even though that could have been the Count faking, but it just... didn't look fake). It seemed to foreshadow something. That was my favorite episode. Sorry for such a long comment on such a simple question. After watching all of Gankutsuou, I seem to have... gained some form of aristocratic typing. Also, everything I read is now in the Count's voice in my head. Anyway, this anime is definitely a sight to behold. I must find a way to procure it for myself. |
